The property owners know the risks. For many it is very much worth the risk I suppose. It is the nature of barrier islands to change and the OBX are basically moving toward the mainland and have been for a very, very long time.

These folks that have homes there are not worried. They have so much money this does not faze any of them. So how can anyone have pity ?

So sad to see such beautiful homes, where countless families have enjoyed vacations together, now on the verge of destruction; yet at the same time so very awesome to witness nature's persistent strength and dominance. Thanks so much for sharing your videos with us. Humbling, to say the least.

In 10 years the first row of houses will be gone and it'll be the same scene for the 2nd row. In 20 years the beach will be up to the water tower, or possibly beyond it. One or two good F3 Hurricanes and a strong Nor'Easter or two will take care of all that, perminently

How ironic that these property owners built these huge mansions and blocked everyone's ocean view with no regard and now the ocean is reclaiming its own

Apparently there was a whole football field sized area of dunes in front when they were built . I would say the whole spits a gonna sooner than we would like to think.

Here in Florida we have beach replenishment programs to try to save the beaches and homes.....my problem with that is why should my tax dollars be used for homes worth millions....just to protect millionaires....I bet most are climate change deniers too

I've loved the Outer Banks for years. I used to stay in Buxton just down the road from Avon. It's sad, but it's just a matter of time til that front row of houses start to be claimed by the ocean. Thank you for posting the video. It is much appreciated.

I rented for many years, Sans Souci Sur la Mer 7 on Ocean View Drive and remember the beautiful dunes and boardwalk that existed in front of the homes on Ocean View Dr, sadly they are all gone due to the past nor'easter's. Thanks for sharing your videos.

Wow, my parents built a ocean front house in Avon in 1980 and sold in 2007. What happened to the dunes? They are completely gone!

Beach front homes with pools. I’m not concerned about them. They were informed regarding the risks and decided to take them .

Wow. Haven't been down to Avon since 2020. I always stayed in Avon in November. How quickly the place changed in a few years. Might be the last time this November if things keep going this way. Thanks for documenting all of this.

Ocean View Drive is finished. They could move the houses back and build a sea wall where the houses are now, but that would also be just a bandaid, buying some years at most.

Hello! Love the vids, here finally and was wondering what this thing in the ocean was? 1 mile south of Avon Pier and 2 miles out. Is it some sort of science experience?
