I think another decent solution would be to remove the damage received debuff and make it so anyone hitting the discorded target has 10 or 15% life steal. It would translate to anything between 10-15 hps on most heroes. It incentivizes people to hit the discorded target while still not actually making them just be erased while slightly buffing your team survivability.

I had an idea of a flat nerf to 15% but giving it another form of utility like maybe no damage drop off. That way you could throw it on the widow on the other side of the map and actually challenge her so that it's not just used on the tank

Honestly I think just making discord's damage buff drop over time would be a decent nerf. Make it 25% for like 1s, then it can start dropping down to 5% over like a 2s window. It would discourage the set it and forget it play style Zen has.

I would totally accept that.

Widow needs more utility if her one shot is gone. Zen needs either mobility or better team survivability if his Discord Orb is gone. Since he is still in competition with Damage Boost Mercy.

Widow does need a change but you cant change her because then she will be useless

No correction discord needs a change not Zen's entire kit. Widow definitly needs a change though.

You're probably not the leader type, and although I love playing tank, being a good leader is exposed when the rest of your team is absolute garbage. Imagine the 1996 Chicago Bulls, Michael Jordan -- the leader (tank), but he'd be nothing without Pippen, Kerr, Kukoc, Rodman etc -- all of those players played their parts extremely well, giving room for Jordan to LEAD. They were his SUPPORT. If your support is bad, the tank is bad -- and I wasn't dogging on you for your anxiety, I question even playing OW sometimes because I find myself becoming unnecessarily stressed from something I'm supposed to be having fun playing.

I feel like its definitely net neutral, since she cant stop Winston from engaging effectively, mostly from escaping. To which Winston will have issues with if he gets knifed after engaging. So its a game of whether or not you can keep your supports alive against a good winston keeping track of abilities.

what does a winston engage matter when you can shout so everyone tanks the leap and runs away

Jq is the winner because she has the EASIEST interaction. He's gotta worry about cds. Means her power level is higher in the match-up because she doesn't have to be as good

@@drkirbkennethkirby7634 easier does not equal better. queen’s abilities are just as important to her and aren’t even easier to use. you have to hit your knife and use shout well or you’re screwed. a queen without shout is as bad as a winston without bubble

That's only really viable if the Winston plays poorly - like Zarya is godlike if every player just feeds her energy

which character is that? Is it the bunny girl mage thing? or is it jenos? The description doesn’t sound like him so I am guessing the bunny girl thing, but I have never considered her a zen counterpart.

True. I also main tank since OW1 and in OW2 it's the most stressful role in the game. You have so much pressure on you. You can't play just a relaxed game on tank anymore it's always the highest stress level. Because you are the only tank you can't do any mistakes, there is no second tank to back you up and when you die the fight is lost

I like the pressure. Forces me out of my comfort zone and makes me try harder. And I play a lot of dota 2 so getting flamed is nothing.

100% agree, also Zen main. It'd be nice if they could make it so Tracer doesn't get headshots for spamming at the knees and firestrikes weren't magnetically attracted to you

Unfortunately, I agree. Love Zen, but discord is too strong. It's BEEN too strong. S1 was rough because of the DPS speed passive so he really couldn't be played, but he was slept on hard in S2 and S3. I had close to 70 percent win rate in comp with him in seasons 2 and 3, and I'm just an above average Zen. I have solo killed every tank with him at least once. Recently got a ball stuck in a room and just kicked him into a corner repeatedly. Of course soloing a tank is rare, but it isn't infrequent. JQ, on the other hand, I've solo'd many times. She's got the advantage, but I wouldn't be surprised if I win 30 percent of the time in a 1v1. Zen basically takes her out of the game. Volley melts her, but get lucky with discord and a volley? She has no chance. Discord means she has 300 health, so she's squishier than Bastion since she's got no armor. He's the only support that basically always has a chance to win a tank 1v1, and that's all because of discord.

Ana doesn't have any movement so she takes just as much time to come back from spawn, it's fine. Not every character needs mobility. And the idea of Zen is meant to be a Glass Cannon, high damage but easier to kill. However they started trying to mitigate his weakness as we saw ( gave him more health, the kick )

What's something else they should add? I wanna come back to this comment in a year and tell you that you predicted the future

Cold take tbh. Overwatch was far more fun in 6v6, more room for friends to play, more team comps, and most heroes feel like they’re still attuned to 6v6 in a 5v5 setting

It is just a damage boost, but an increased fire rate might be a healthier option for the game. The damage boost is enough to turn a form of hitscan weapon that does 80 damage on a bodyshot and 160 on a headshot into one that does 104 on a bodyshot and 208 on a headshot; enough to break most breakpoints in the game. This usually doesn't allow for the player being shot to respond as a result, and essentially takes Widowmaker's biggest strength and gives it to a hero that would presumably have much more to their kit if Ashe and Sojourn are anything to go off of. However, a boost to a hero's fire rate would still decrease the time to kill, but with more room for players to react. After all, cheating Widowmakers are some of the hardest players to deal with in a game seeing as they just need you to be in their crosshairs for a moment to send you back to spawn, not giving any chance to react with healing, movement, or other abilities that could be used defensively, making for a very frustrating experience.

I’d argue that with only one tank slot you’re at the mercy of any bad tank without any secondary tank to pick up the slack.

@OrchardFilm but I find that support is a harder role to due the bare minimum and also a lot of supports can't defend themselves well or switch when it ain't working.

Less people are playing tank because of all the ana/zen comps and sombras making tank gameplay anti-fun

Ana/zen comp is braindead and can completely fuck the tank for free. And most sombras are just begging to play her and, therefore play skill floor sombra, hiding the whole game and hacking tank on cooldown

@@cheesemuffin8129 the purpose of support is to enable and sustain the team, moira has the sustain part in pure healing, but lacks in other areas like cc (eg lucio boop, brig flail knockback) and also completely lacks in the enabling area with her only abilities either providing more healing/damage, or giving herself survivability, she just completely lacks utility. sure getting kills "supports the team" but thats the purpose of dps heroes, not support, supports are primarily meant to enable the dps to do that, something which moira completely lacks in

I agree, I had a lot of fun playing tank with another tank. I know 6v6 had a lot of issues with stuns and double barriers, but I still prefer it over 5v5. I was lucky that I started playing before Brig was introduced, so I got to experience Overwatch when the game was generally considered to be fun with dive and other metas. Even during late stage overwatch, I had fun. I didn't give it much thought when they announced OW2 was going to be 5v5, but then I tried it and felt sad to see how different the game felt without a second tank (at least to me)

Just play competitive open queue. You can play with however many tanks you want.

It could be fun, but when you solo queue and get a bad tank the game is a nightmare. At least in 5 v 5 you carry your team as the solo tank.

How is widow a problem for tanks? if they are being oppressive you can always dive them as a tank. zen, i mean honestly lol, the only people who complain about zen are shitters who play nothing but rein like flats. he isn't that effective against other tanks other than maybe orisa as they all have better damage mitigation and absorption.

Tbh all her takes were bad, so it doesn't really matter who she mains she clearly isn't aware of the issues of those characters.

But isn't 1 of the problems with discord orb is that it's a no skill, high reward ability? You still auto-orb the tank 90% of the time.

@@pandolam4513es, but it doesn't feel terrible to play against, since it just gives zen a better ability to heal.(I think it could be good if it gives the person damaging lifesteal, not just zen)

@@pandolam4513 The main issue is how harshly it nerfs whoever its applied to, the ease of use and how little skill is necessary pushes it over the edge. Turning it into a life steal ability is healthier and a good step in the right direction.

Just a quick speculative prediction: If they DO change it to life steal instead of a damage buff, I feel like Soldier and Genji would see even more use since it provides them with greater sustain during fights.

same here im pretty low elo and i have 1-2 minute tank queues on a weekend ill have 3

When I queue for all roles it seems like I get support and tank about equally. Queue times feel about the same for each for me, but I mostly play quickplay. Strangely, comp actually has drastically shorter queue times for me. Near instant, vs 4-8 minute "quick play" queue times. All roles being about equal may indicate that there are more support players though, since if the roles were balanced (in player count) I should be about 2 times more likely to get support than tank, since the game needs 2 times as many support players as tank players.

I think the important think as a Zen main is that he retains the ability to use it as a shot calling tool, and to help him 1v1 flankers. Those are the two things it needs to do for his playstyle to function. 1 would achieve the second but in an extremely annoying way for the opponents, and barely the first. 2 is basically the same.

Nah. We've seen characters with 50% life steal and it actively hurt the game. Reaper was unkillable and you had to use burst damage to bring him down and he dominated low level queues.

@@notplancha131 yeah but the problem with discord is that you just put it on a tank and your job is done, not that its overpowered (i dont say that its bad its a REALLY good ability but that doesnt break the game) and the 50% lifesteal will do the same thing
