Honour to all those who came back to this video, after PvE got cancelled... I'm gonna miss the world of Overwatch...

You still have a purpose, Hanzo... to guard the payload and stay inside circle...

I love how Hanzo mourns his dead brother and once he realises he's alive, the first thing he does is get ready to kill him again.

"...and I've forgiven you. Now, you must forgive yourself." Such a simple, yet powerful line.

4:57 the way the music flourishes as the dragons come out gives me chills every time

My family tells of an ancient legend about two great dragon brothers. The dragon of the north wind and the dragon south wind. Together, they are still not on the objective...

And then bastion shoots both of them dead to get play of the game

The soundtrack for this short is bone-chilling, the end part gives me goosebumps every time.

Had to rewatch this after they added “real life is not like the stories our father told us” to the battle pass it gives me chills every time

Hanzo: oh no I'm so sad I killed my only brother. Genji: brother I'm back it's me genji Hanzo:genji! I'll kill you again!

Genji : Hanzo Hanzo: *So anyway, i started blasting*

Lets be honest when Hanzo said *"What have you become"* we all thought or wanted Genji to say *"I am what you made me"*

5:13 Genji is so soft and kind... He refuses to hit his brother with his ulti, you can see the Green dragon went up instead of hitting Hanzo!!!

Hanzo : “Do it then, kill me.” Genji : *”WELL NOW IM NOT DOING IT!”*

Imagine he just said "U are not the first asassin to kill me and u will not be the last" (looks behind and sees no one)

6:17 to this day this part always gets to me, makes me tear up a little bit the way he says “Genji” and the music kicks in even more

I still love the fact that Hanzo snapped when he heard his brother's name. "You are not worthy to say his name!" He really did love his brother, and it shows especially strong in that moment

Tbh I feel like the guards should be more ready for Hanzo if he goes there "every year on the same day" lol

God watching these are like watching small clips from Disney, why isn't this a movie already?

This cinematic is what made me want to main Genji

"Perhaps i am a fool to think there is still hope for you, but i do. Think on that brother" always gives me chills. I always watch this once a year to remembering my little brother in heaven. Me and my lil bro already played this game since season 1, i still remember we were always picked shimada brothers in QP. Can't believe i'm playing OW 2 without him now, my lil bro passed away in 2020 because of corona. This is still a hard time for me tbh, somehow i always fantasizing that the genji line was said by my lil bro to cheer me up, if only there was no corona in 2020 my lil bro would have been 19 this year. Thank u Overwatch!!! U have given me an opportunity to have a lot of good times with my little brother. ❤️

This 8 minute video was better than almost every large budget film that comes to theatres.

It’s January 2024. For some reason, I wanted to watch this animated short again. What a nostalgia trip. Playing Overwatch back in High School with my buddies 6 years ago are some of the best memories I have. I remember my first set of golden guns, my favorite legendary skins and dance emotes, and hitting platinum in competitive. It was so much fun. I’d honestly give anything to play 2016-17 overwatch again. I haven’t played since 2020. Watching this video feels like visiting the grave of an old friend. RIP OG Overwatch

Totally unrealistic. Hanzo enters point A in Hanamura and there aren´t 2 Torbjorns and a Bastion camped already. Blizzard pls.

I never even realized we actually see a glimpse of Hanzo's swordsmanship when he's fighting Genji using his bow as a melee weapon. He's moving like he's wielding a sword.

Is it just me or whenever they summon the dragon You get chills?

It literally took me years to realize that the narrator is voiced by Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa. Shang Tsung from Mortal Kombat (1995). Honestly, perfect casting.

Don't mind me, just watching the best thing to come out of Overwatch

How did they get their ults so quickly they missed every shot

This short remains the absolute best they’ve ever made, which considering the quality of them as a whole, says a lot. The tale of Hanzo and Genji is still one of, if not the, best story beats in the game, and I sincerely hope that it gets explored deeper in OW2 PvE.

The emotion in the voice of hanzo when he says “you are not worthy to say his name” is my favorite part of the short. The VAs did such an amazing job

why doesn’t overwatch just make a dam movie.

I can't believe how good the game was and how interesting the characters were. It is very sad to see the state of the game being so bad these days, basically since overwatch 2 was released. It's like a nostalgic childhood memory, such a great moment, but completely in the past and can never be experienced again.

I miss you, old Overwatch.

It has been 6 years since this short film released and i'm still waiting for Genji's Q be able to reflect Hanzo's Q and let it backfire at Hanzo like in the short film

Imagine this game having a story that you could play

Imagine living in hanamura and two random guys start screaming at each other then three massive dragons just appear out of thin air

“You dare to lecture me about honor?! You are not worthy to say his name!” Chills. Every. Single. Time.

The moment Genji jumped in and said "I need healing" gave me the chills.

I really enjoy the fact that Genji uses his dragon not to hurt Hanzo, but to set Hanzo's dragons on the right path, just like the dragon of the North wind does in the story.

Bastion is the hardest character

6:05 Everyone is saying how "Real life is not like the stories our father told us!" line gets them in the feels. For me it's how Hanzo looks at Genji. He looks heartbroken at the sight of what he did to his younger brother. I'm an older brother to one younger brother as well. Putting myself in Hanzo's shoes I can understand the conflict he has. This cinematic is beautiful at expressing a lot with just the word "Genji".

7 years later and this is still one of the best cinematics in my opinion, not even limiting to the video game genre either.

you know I bet when the dragons meet each other in that fight scene they are probably like "aye what's good"

Anyone else think that Hanzo and Genji's storyline (as well as the Shimada Clan) could merit it's own movie.

I love that this trailer could stand on its own as beautiful without any ties to Overwatch.

I would give a lot to watch this for the first time again

There's more character building in this 8 min clip than some TV shows are able to pull off in 8 seasons.

So tragic they canceled the campaign we could’ve gotten more stories like this.

I find it really cool that when Genji reflects the dragons, the green dragon seems to leave whereas the blue dragons go back at Hanzo. It possibly symbolises that Genji has forgiven him and stuff but Hanzo hasn't forgiven himself before he even says it. Either that or I'm overthinking something that wasn't intended but makes sense. I didn't explain it well but it's probably fine

I still don't understand how Blizzard can deliver a better story in 8 minutes than some movies can in 2 hours.

Never forget, corporate greed has robbed us of this.

Man, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa has such an amazing voice, it was the perfect choice for the narrator! My all time favourite cinematic :)

"What have you become..." Strong line to describe Blizzard now-days. I've still got very fond memories of playing the original Overwatch, after school, with the lads, during the Summer holidays and such. But, as all good things, eventually, it comes to an end.

This made me love Genji more than I already did.

Do you think that Genji can change his colours at will? Or does he have to download Razer Synapse and make a profile?

for some reason every time i watch this, it makes me cry.

"Perhaps I am a fool to think there is still hope for you." So perfectly encompassing my feelings as overwatch 2 came. Finally closure. The incredible supports disappeared. The 1v1s that were satisfying and challenging...gone. DD friends and lovers from this game. I will forever remember this journey. But where I had hope there came sorrow and now I happily say: Had not played overwatch for 8 months, maybe more. I'm leaving without regrets.

Has it really only been six days since the beta ended. Geez it has felt like 2 whole years for me... i need to play again so badly or I might not make it to the actual release.

My brother and I grew up hating each other. After so many years at odds, we finally found it within ourselves to forgive and accept each other. This hits really close to home.

"The world is changing once again brother...and it's time to pick a side" I like how they dropped this epic line hinting some important events happening, I remember this being really exiting 7 years ago; what would they do with these characters? Turns out, they did absolutely nothing.

You'd have thought that they would improve security on that one day every year when their guards all die mysteriously

When i play Overwatch with my little bro we play as the Shamada brothers. I play Hanzo, since I'm the older sibling, and he plays Gengi, since he's the younger brother! We're an unstoppable duo!

Out of every short, none of them ever truly hit me as hard as this one does. The way Hanzo's emotions are handled, the way his expressions change... There's so much care put into it. It gives me chills. Siblings are some of the most important things in life, and the way you value them is like no other. You can tell that Hanzo still struggles with what he's done, even after all this time. Hanzo and Genji's stories are some of, if not the best, of the cast, in my opinion. There's so much emotion and a lot of little things that I keep noticing that bring me back to thinking about it. The way that Genji's spawn room line is "Peace comes to those who wish for it," and the implication that the reason Hanzo can't find peace is because he doesn't deserve it, or the way that Zenyatta tells Hanzo that he sounds like Genji from the past - it's all stuff like that. There's so much emotion between them, that I can't help but root for both of them to make up and finally get to be family again.
