I forgot it existed a few days after it got released. Mostly because It got overshadowed by other things and was just a "side note, this exists now" kind of deal. THe first time i remembered its a thing was when they told us they are giving up on it...
If they wanted it to be a permanent mode they should've made enough content for it. It was fine in comparison to most event mission modes, and the fun lasted just as long for me. It's less of a failed experiment and more of an abandoned project
