Why would crime committed by someone prior to being president, fall under any interpretation of presidential immunity, even if you say president has absolute immunity. Why delay?
It will be a mistrial so its delayed long enough for Donald to toss everything away with the exception of the rest of the stolen docs he never returns to the archives. I can tell you; everyone is missing the reality show because there watching the smoke and mirrors, he has already figured out how not to lose again. Once he is back in the White House, he makes it all go away with his private intelligent offices that will be doing Homeland and CIA work, while the government workers get sidelined from the State Department to the Pentagon. This is the reality show. All the prosecutors should have offered to cut a deal for not being the president. Now Joe Biden has a brain in his head, he will ensure Trump never gets in the White House by using the very power they just afforded Trump he takes over. MR PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN, CAN YOU HEAR ME., PARDON YOUR SON and deal with Trump before his plan comes to full fruition!
No one is above the law. Being unable to accept defeat, and attempting to remain in power, is the cornerstone of this political system, Conviction and imprisonment are required.
@@ericmccarty9656 if what you say is true then there would be countless democrats including Hillary Clinton and every host on MSNBC that would be in court trying to defend why they would be claiming that trump “stole” the 2016 election.
As far as I care, if its criminal, its not part of a president's official duty, meaning that none of the ruling from the Supreme Court should apply. Of course, given their track record, I don't expect them to apply it that way.
Evidence from whilst Trump was President was admitted as evidence. Therefore the only possible cure is to have a new trial... All of you alt-left Blue Cult Wackos need to get a grip. Donald Trump is not a criminal, because this entire case is invalid.
The only weakness of that is that the ruling obscures the documents that would identify that official act. A perfect example of that would be the Nixon Tapes would be obscured. Without that audio, would the country have responded the same?
I am sick of "officials" telling me what I saw, heard, or know! I use my eyes, ears and brain and I know what I have seen, heard and thought! I plan to vote BLUE and hope others will do the same as I know they have eyes, ears and brains they have also used to make their own decisions! GOD SAVE AMERICA.
This is the nub of the issue: Trump has laid claim to being sent by God to make America Great Again, yet he's broken so many of GOD'S LAWS it's simply appalling, A VERY IMPORTANT ONE BEING, "THOU SHALL NOT MAKE A FALSE IDOL OUT OF GOLD, (MONEY)" yet that's EXACTLY what he's been doing ALL his life and communicating with his behavior, not only to our nation, but to the entire world as the TRUTH denying the fact that ALL the money anyone can ever amass couldn't CREATE an entire COSMOS out of anyhing other than LOVE!!! ✝️❤️🙏🧏
Perhaps not. But money, power, (esp.) political power, influence, ect. will always favor those on trail with these attributes over those who don't have these attributes. Not saying its right or OK.
All you have to realize is that Trump was convicted of a crime for writing a check(tradeable paper)... but it would NOT have been a crime if he had paid cash(tradeable paper.)
Some of the records were falsified while he was POTUS. But, writing checks from your personal and trust accounts and cooking your private company's books cannot possibly be construed as official acts.
Ok then: the Statue of Limitations has expired!... The real problem is that evidence, from when he was the President, was used against him, and that is illegal... So now he deserves a completely new Trial... Of course this law is ad hoc and ex post facto. Not to mention undefinable, and solely Political... Trying to prevent one's political opponents from running for office is a classic Marxist Ethos and all very Stalin-like.
At 3:14 the Supreme Court invents new law. Is that legal? I thought their job was to interpret existing laws passed by Congress. If this was existing law, how come nobody ever heard of it before? Where is it in the Constitution?
There is a higher authority: Congress. In particular the House of Representatives. If the Dems capture the White House and Congress in November, they can work together to pass new legislation that removes the traitors from SCOTUS and rebuilds it from the ground up.
@@geowen57 it’s not belief it’s the actual the way they went about it changing laws and limitations,so does that mean we should go back and charge Clinton with his deeds with woman while he was in the White House? Duh - laws are not retroactive! If you ran a red light last week and they change the intersection this week, it does not change your actions last week.
Makes sense to me, but a lawyer on the channel said, it does not work like that, they have to rescore it… thus Supreme Court gets what it’s corruption needs

The argument they're making is that the law never applied to the president's official acts, and that they're now "clarifying" that. It's obviously ahistorical, as Nixon was clearly about to be charged for Watergate, but got pardoned by the following president (WHICH IF HE GOT PARDONED MEANS HE WAS DEFINITELY IN LEGAL TROUBLE). But it doesn't matter, they're going to make whatever conclusion they want to exonerate Trump, then argue backwards to justify it.
Laws are not retroactive to suddenly criminalize what was legal conduct. But not the other way around. Also, the SCOTUS decision is not new legislation. It interpreted the application of the Constitution. A legal decision like that absolutely can be used to vacate a criminal conviction. It's happened that way for more than a couple centuries in our country.
This Supreme Court is a court in which a Justice, who is still on that court, told a G.O.P. senator in 2020, the year of a presidential election, that he was thinking of leaving the court because he didn't make enough money, then Right Wing billionaires started befriending that Justice and giving him gifts, including a recreational vehicle costing more than a quarter of a million dollars. Buying his mother's home, renovating it, and letting her continue to live there rent-free for years. Paying for that justice's elaborate vacations, all to a value of more than $4 million! It doesn't end there! Very briefly, another Justice currently on the Supreme Court had property listed for sale for two years, then when he was confirmed to the Court, he quickly got a buyer! That buyer is head of a law firm which frequently has cases before the Supreme Court; in fact they appeared before the Court in 22 cases in the years after that land deal! Or how about the Justice, whose wife has a deal leasing 160 acres of land to an energy company, for a percentage of the profits, and who has ruled against the EPA a number of times? Even reversing a law signed by President Obama to protect the environment? By the way, this Justice also has received approximately a million dollars worth of gifts! Then there's the Justice whose wife recruits attorneys for law firms which frequently appear before the Supreme Court, and has been paid more than $5 million doing so. Do those law firms receive extra consideration from the Court?
I thought Thomas had that conversation before 2020 on a plane journey coming back from a republican event. He said it because it was a dem potus at the time and the republicans didn't want thomas replaced by a democrat as I heard the story. Will google when that happened, think it was Rachel or Lawrence who exposed it. Not 100% sure of when.
Quite frankly I don't think many people understand how dire this situation is. This is much bigger than Trump. When the highest court in the land turns against its own citizens in favor of autocracy, you are on the brink of revolution/civil war. At that point America's foreign adversaries will jump in the fight and it will be worse than anyone living today can imagine. The current administration must take immediate action, while they still have the upper hand, to resolve the crisis we face.
I absolutely agree. I don't think we can begin to think of a war amongst ourselves, and who would aggregate foreign aid? Would different countries side with different political parties?! If so, we may be facing a much larger invasion than just illegal immigrants and migrants...

HERE IS HOW: LET US MAKE THIS DISGUSTING LAW BACKFIRE ON TRUMP, HIS CULT FOLLOWERS AND THE SUPREME COURT.. President Joe Biden may not want the power, but he has been given it - and is now virtually a King. I believe he has a duty of care to use that power for the safety of the Free World. Ironically, in their attempts to corruptly protect Trump, the US Supreme Court have made Biden into a king and, before it is too late, he should use his new kingly powers to save us from a dreadful dictator. Clearly it would be nice if somebody had the power to prevent Hitler from becoming the dictator that he became and used that power, despite being reluctant to. Here are a few suggestions: (1). Perhaps he could hasten the outstanding trials of Trump's alleged criminality? (2) Perhaps he could reform the Supreme Court by replacing the six judges that allegedly put decent law abiding people in danger by their attempts to appoint Trump as a future king? (3) Perhaps he could put any corrupt judges on trial for betraying people's reliance and trust in the Law to protect them? (4). Perhaps he could put any corrupt judges on trial for potentially endangering the safety of the entire Free World? (5). Perhaps he could put Donald J Trump and his collaborators on trial for alleged treason?
Applying law retrospectively is VERY dangerous indeed. I am not an American. However, history has always demonstrated that bad law is overturned. Might not happen immediately, but bad law is eventually cancelled.
Thanks for your insightful comment. I guess the devastating thing for me is that this is more fundamental than "bad law". In America, we don't have kings. Full stop. No one is above the law and this is the entire point of the country. The idea that a president can be prosecuted criminally is actually written into the impeachment clause. So respectfully, this just goes beyond "bad law". What can I call it exactly? I don't know, treason is one that springs to mind. I find the idea of a former president arguing that he has immunity to " assassinate a rival using seal team 6" in front of the Supreme Court of the land disqualifying from the office in and of itself. But that's just me- average American. What do I know? All I can do is VOTE. And I will. And millions of me will and then what? Because dollars to donuts the claim will be made that the vote was rigged. Now my fate is in the hands of now King Biden. What will he do when they begin flooding the courts with challenges? What will they do when 45 goes on rerunning the old hits from last time? "Frankly, we did win this election". THAT was the moment this all began- with one frightened, ugly man who LOST. He will loose again even if democrats run an actual donkey. Now, with a king, what will happen? Will Biden step aside and hand said kingship to an actual psychotic narcissist bent on staying out of jail and punishing anyone who isn't a straight up sycophant? My lord we need to call upon the wisdom of our founders, dig into our better angels and ACT with boldness and love of country right now. It's what I might call grim.
Right?? That's another thing. Laws get passed AFTER certain outcomes of landmark trials...but these certain trials are not then re-tried after the new law is passed...we'd be in court for eternity if that happened.

Simple question: how can an act which is illegal in the terms of the law the President was sworn to uphold be defined as a Presidential Act? Surely that by definition would be a personally advantageous act carried out in defiance of his Presidential oath and therefore prosecutable.
First, it was not Congress acting. The Constitution only prohibits Congress from passing an ex post facto law. Second, it was not a law, but rather a SCOTUS decision interpreting the law. Third, it explicitly stated a protection that has always been in the Constitution and is a logical extension of Nixon v. Fitzgerald.
