I think this is about a man who was on the passenger ship "Empress", who drown when the ship crashed. The gorgeous sound is perhaps the trumpets of Heaven. His eyes changing blue and green are obviously a change in perception and him identifying himself with the ocean. The sky falling in is the blue of the water rushing in on him. After death he feels free and one with the resting place of his body, and at peace ("I could finally crash again"), so perhaps the ocean is a bit of a purgatory? Just what I perceive with it. God bless!
I always thought this song was about him actually falling asleep....finally crash again... And then dreaming about how he became the sea. Idk, but when I listen to this song, not only does it make me ridiculously happy, I often fall asleep to this song.
It's hard to describe what I feel whenever I listen to this song but, the closest I can get is: It makes me feel completely at peace, like my soul has been calmed and all problems are pushed away. It helps me think, and also helps soothe my mind whenever it is troubled. The lyrics are beautiful, and gives me inspiration(I love to write). I wish there were more songs like this today instead of the trash piling up on the front of RU-vid.
Just remember. Owl city isn't a band. Owl city isn't a person. Owl city is a project by Adam young. Same with Port blue. That's why he says I'm Adam Young from Owl city. He is Adam Young from the project Owl City (which is only him. His touring band don't usually feature in his recordings. Just at concerts!)
I love this song!!!!! I can NOT stop listening to it! It's just so pretty and awesome! Thanks! I am so glad you put these songs on, so I can hear Owl City songs I've never heard of!
Lol, I listened to this song during the earthquake scene when the Mt.St. Helens Volcanoe went off in Percy Jackson and the Battle of the Labyrinth "And my eyes turned blue and green I heard a gorgeous sound And that's when it became a dream When the sky fell in When the hurricanes came for me I could finally crash again And that's how I became the sea"
+Leann Lin I don't know why but that's how I feel sometimes when I go to the beach I think about this song and it makes me feel so amazing its just so amazing I love thi song
I love it but a little too sped up, I love how his voice is deep and he just sounds so I don't even know, this song is my absolute favorite and owl city has to be the greatest man whos ever stepped foot into the world his talent is undescribable. I prob spelled that wrong but idc lol.
Well, he does perform with some other people like Breanne, Jasper, Daniel, etc., but that's only during live performances. Owl City is technically still a one-person band.
Emerald Ocelot lmao omg This is my old channel.. i made a comment on this channel saying the same thing almost The chorus reminded me of the Mt. St. Helens explosion scene in Percy Jackson and the Battle of the Labyrinth
Actually, Owl City IS a band. Yes, yes, I know that Adam is the only member of Owl City. You could say Owl City is a one-person band. Adam Young is Owl City, in a way, but he's also a member. Just… the only member. Adam is a singer, but Owl City is technically called a band. Realize he always says "I'm Adam Young FROM Owl City" in his interviews and such, so it can't be that Adam "is" Owl City. It can be kind of confusing to people. I just like to think of Owl City as a one-person band.
The chorus fit really nicely when Percy caused a huge eruption, earthquake at Mt. St. Helens in The Battle of the Labyrinth: "When the empress ran aground, And my eyes turn blue and green. Thats when it became a dream. When the sky fell in. When the hurricanes came for me. I could finally crash again. And thats how I became the sea."
Could this song be a story of how he died aboard the empress then became one with the sea it would explain when hes on about destroying the engines, 😲😃
i think this song is about the creation of the world Adam does tend to mix religion is his wonderful songs when i listen to this i can see both religion n scientific inspiration a careful blend its astonishing 😌
Surprisingly, the pronunciation is not standard to some extent in spite of his being a native. For example, the singer doesn't link the final consonant of a preceding lexeme to the initial vơwel of the next in some cases, as in 'washed in', 'nodded off inside', ''fell in' , 'engines off' and the pronuncuation of 'drowned' and between 'crash' and 'again' is unclear. And the latter is not linked together, either..
