@@susanfrederick9012Oaky is a Great Horned Owl , this is a Eurasian Eagle Owl . Look at the dark pattern on his chest- horizontal is a GHO , and vertical like raindrops is a EEO . Also the orange range eyes , and the distinctive absence of a dark feather ring around the facial disk is usually EEO. A strongly marked dark facial ring , yellow range eyes all go with GHO . All owls are individuals however . Nature loves to prove people wrong . Someone once told me everything in nature has a purpose. Endlessly fascinated by owls .
2 nights ago I went out on my porch. I was greeted with a strange sceeching/talking sort of sound. I knew who it was. I shined my flashlight up on the pole and, sure enough... it was the local owl that comes by from time to time. For the last year I've been doing the hooting thing with him and a couple other owls. I live way out in a rural area so sound carries a long ways. I wondered at first if they thought I was an owl too. But soon learned that they knew fully well I was a human. They all come by but one in particular lands and spends time interacting with me. He's spectacular. I'd give anything to have an interaction like you're having. They're so regal.
He flies outside daily but isn't a hunter. He can't hunt and only eats fresh frozen thawed prey. He loves his flying time and works up a good appetite!!
Yoll sounds a little different, though. And her buddies Nefanya and Varvara over at Sergey's channel sound different still. I wonder if there are (eagle) owl dialects? ;-)
@@thekingsdaughter4233 I think each region’s Eurasian Eagle Owls have a slightly different accent . Karla at the International Owl Center can ID local owls by their voice alone .
