When I saw it at first I thought it was gonna be a filler "for fun" episode with Hooty shenanigans, I felt that a couple times and was also thoroughly impressed each time
I still remember when the Golden Guard revealed his name was Hunter and I just turned to my brother and said, "Of course, he's named Hunter. I bet he cheats at laser tag."
@@user-op8fg3ny3j It's a reference to TheOdd1sOut's laser tag video, where he encounters a group of four people who were cheating at laser tag, and he gave all four of them the fake name "Hunter" because he felt like it was a thing someone named Hunter would do.
Yes! I was worried that Schaffrillas was going to say something homophobic for some reason, Idk why. But then he started talking about how great it was and that made me happy.
One aspect of the Owl House that I think it’s underrated is the magic system and lore. It managed to pull me in a way that I’ve only seen again in the Avatar universe. It’s seriously interesting to see how different people live there and use magic in different ways
I know right! And, with good magic world building, it lets the characters explore more with the magic without confusing the audience. A good story needs good world building.
Compare this to a lot of the isekai anime and it's unfortunate most of them don't feel they have any near as much thought into their mechanics while still being really digestible.
As someone currently going to art school after working through public school and managing to get a scholarship, I relate to Tylor's position as being stuck unable to follow his passion, but the fact they mix it with the generic 'learn to appreciate the wacky situation' almost makes the show develop in reverse for me. Monsters at Work feels more like a display of Stockholm Syndrome than an appreciation of the Monsters behind the Monsters
Indeed. Val and Fritz are really annoying but Tylor never puts them on their place. In fact, he offends them by accident in the bowling episide and actually apologizes... why? They do suck at bowling!!!! They would have costed Mike a month of servitude and paperwork for Gary. If the series actually ends with Tylor rejecting being a jokester because he loves MIFT i'm going to be mad. You're right, it looks like Stockholme syndrome. Now if Tylor was a Lightning Mqueen type, a character full of himself who needs to learn humillity, that would work. He would be brought down a peg. Instead, he's already an hard-working humble underdog full of dreams who gets put in different annoying/unfair situations, and that's just not funny.
@@maximoarana5549 It's more like the owl house doesn't have a big Climax and somthing really dark yet. You know somthing like amphibia season 2 finales or crossroads of destinies when the owl house gets to that point, people's opinion will be folded and changed they really like drama even with that statement if the show is not as dark as you expected doesn't mean it's bad many shows are not dark at all but still very well written.
I agree with this statement All the mcu shows have sucked (except wandavision). Clone wars season 7 is excluded. Mandalorian season 2 isn’t as good as the 1rst. Bad batch was okay, same with monsters at work. As a bonus it’s better than every thing dc has made since Dark Knight and Joker
Honestly i haven't seen either so i cant say which is better outside of the clips I've seen of that episode thats sort of a crossover with gravity falls and the fact that bill cypher is pretty much a demodog in owl house
I think that Belos having a face that we get to see before the bound-to-happen-final-confrontation that's in every show ever really cements him as not just a menace, but an actual evil character. It shows his "humane" side, but you still know that this is the bad guy. It shows that there's actually something behind the mask, not just a faceless evil.
TL;DR - Showing his face with a smile and doing it casually makes us feel just as emotionally conflicted as Hunter. I think showing his face so casually (I mean this affectionately, as in they don't make too big a deal out of it) is a pretty good move. He turns and smiles at Hunter, and it sort of gives the audience the same conflict that Hunter has. By showing this genuine-looking smile and giving him some sense of humanity, it makes the audience feel conflicted on whether they still wholeheartedly believe he is a bad person. He's the bad guy, obviously, but is makes you wonder if he is going to get any kind of redemption or hope for him to be better. Given that he's emotionally abusing Hunter, and Hunter now has Luz and the Gang[TM] to run off to, he's probably feeling gaslighted into staying by Belos' side. Just an opinion tho

The best thing about season 2 of The Owl House is that while, yes, the episodes move the plot forward, they also work really well as individual stories with a lot of character growth, like Through The Looking Glass Ruins and Knock Knock Knockin on Hooty's Door.
Probably my favorite type of writing for these story-driven cartoons are ones where characters change and develop but each manages to have its own story in some way, and I definitely get that with TOHS2
Ya I'll join in on that shit I liked willow heck my only real problem with season 2 is that willow barely says a thing or even shows up then again I was inclined to think the same thing about gus until season 2 which actually made him better
And that pains me the most about the TOH fandom and the series itself. No one cares about Willow AND Gus despite them being actual characters and It frustrates me of how much they get sidelined, making them feel like props. I really hope that season 2B they'll get better treatment.
A couple things: 1. At first Golden Guard/Hunter's voice pissed me off but they made that a running gag so im okay with it now 2. The Monsters At Work character designs feel uninspired 3. I appreciate that the The Owl House doesn't have a tedious liar revealed plot, just Luz telling the truth 4. It was only a matter of time before they made a Guardians of Ga'Hoole joke

Anyone else notice that, recently, everyone talks about the villains from Disney Television Animation's shows rather than the villains from the last few Disney animated films (apart from Tamatoa of course)? It's almost as if the villains on those shows have more time to develop their nastiness and aren't treated as a last minute plot twist. Who would have thought?
Idk, the owl house villains are pretty weak. Belos is not threatening at all, he doesn't do basically anything and you can already tell even he's going to get a redemption ark.
@@matyaskassay4346 to me it looks like he's manipulating the shit out of Hunter and the audience by presenting himself as non-threatening. Have you not seen how he almost stabbed Hunter's eye out and then went all nice on him? At least Amity's mom doesn't hide how abusive she is by manipulating Amity into trusting her.
Hunter got me to fixate incredibly hard on this show. He's so interestingly written and the fact he's going through both physical and emotional abuse is something that a lot of people including me can resonate with. This season has peaked in terms of show writing, it's incredible
25:10 the idea that LGBTQ scholars in the future will cite an episode titled "Knock Knock Knockin' on Hooty's Door" is a REVELATION. it is HYSTERICAL and AMAZING and EXACTLY what Hooty deserves. what an icon. what a revelation.
I feel they were probably given a quicker heads up that they were gonna be canceled than the Star vs. crew received. The episodes are handling it better IMO.
I think TOH team has had a much clearer plan which makes a big difference. There hasnt really been any random twist villians in TOH at all. Even the ones we thought would be villians arent (looking at Vee). Luz hasnt created herself a freaking harem, the plan was very obviously that Luz and Amity would get toghether from the start and they went straight there, they didnt have her join and break up with like 4 people first.
@@jollyboy3572 yeah. There were some Season 1 episodes I really liked, and some that I thought were kinda eh. I haven't disliked any Season 2 episodes so far.
My favorite part of The Hooty episode, was when King tried to dance and Hooty shouted "DON'T YOU TALK ABOUT MY MOTHER!!!" I couldn't understand why Hooty was mad, and yet I couldn't help but laugh my head off. 🤣
"Nothing will top Avatar..." I mean...do they have to? Owl House can still stand on the same podium as Avatar:TLAB, among other shows too. A fantastic cartoon, is a fantastic cartoon; it shouldn't be a competition, right?
Gonna have to disagree. Competition is necessary. It pushes people to raise standards of what we want from a good cartoon. Sure, the owl house is alright, but people can make a cartoon that's even better. That's why it's necessary to compare it to objectively excellent cartoons like Avatar to see what it did right and what it did wrong in order to make better cartoons. Not saying you have to do that. I'm only explaining why competition is needed.
Eh, it's just an opinion anyways, don't dig much into it. I think it's in my top 5 but certainly not the best, but that's literally just me and what my biases say about me. That's what Patrick feels bout avatar
IKR?? it's nice to see a gay couple actually get screen time AS the couple, instead of building them up the whole show and only getting their love confession (and maybe a kiss if we're lucky) at the end. *cough* SHE RA
@@HiHi-lt1cb I mean- it's not too fair to pick on shows like She-ra and Steven Universe since them pushing for that is what has let Dana get away with being so blatant in The Owl House, she said it herself that they paved the way.
I love how early the show sets Lumity as cannon. This has been a pet peeve of mine with shows like SheRa and Kipo, since they made cannon that the main or important side characters be lgbtq+ around the end of the show. I would have loved one final episode seeing Adora and Catra be gfs and going on a date. With Lumity, we are gonna get to see an actual relationship at work rather than just a confirmation of it (idk if that makes sense lol). I am just so in love with The Owl House, its gonna be so painful to wait for the hiatus to end.
I can’t believe season 3 got even more shortened. I don’t think I’ve heard a single bad review of this show. By all logic season 3 should be getting extended. This makes me sadder than when spectacular Spider-Man got canceled.
Yes i agree I'm so excited though i can see why shows like she-ra and kipo didnt have it till the end since it would have been hell to have it even allowed to be put it in, I can't imagine how much convincing Dana had to do
I really enjoyed season 1 of Bad Batch, but yes I admit they could have done a lot more. I liked it more than I did the first season of Clone Wars, and I think Omega offers a much different kinda vibe/value to Grogu. I love them both but for different reasons. I would've been disappointed if the show was revealed to be a one season story, but since season 2 was announced I've been so happy. Filoni does have a knack for developing underwhelming aspects of earlier seasons into something epic.
Same here! I didn't think that Omega was too similar to Grogu since she's more of an actual character with development and gets to grow to be a part of the group (no hate to Grogu I love him too). With a second season they hopefully get time to develop these characters more and really go in depth with them. Animated star wars shows usually tend to get better as they go along and I'd rather have a weaker start for a show than a weak ending. And the first season was already pretty good to me, but there's room for improvement for sure
I'd rate it a 7/10 if not for the series' biggest flaw. Don't click the read more button if you don't want to hear about a pretty controversial subject. This show is racist and that singlehandedly drops it to a 3/10.

I won't, just telling you that I PERSONALLY like Eda's Requiem, Yesterday's Lie, Hunting Palismen and Echoes of the Past a bit more. But considering Season Two only has one episode that isn't amazing (this of course being through the looking glass ruins), it's not a surprise that opinions vary this much.
@@Lucid_PZPL wha- what is there to not like about Yesterday's Lie? It further established that Luz has one big flaw, the dialog between Luz and Camila at the end is flawless and V is such a cutie. How is that worse than Through the looking glass ruins?
Luz and Amity is a revolution in cartoon relationships. Usually it is just one side not being able to talk about their feelings and the other side being completely oblivious to it, in The Owl House, both sides are not being able to talk about their feelings and both sides are oblivious to it. What I am saying is all cartoons should have a Hooty to resolve the relationship cliche, so we can move on.
Oh and the fact that they dont end up girlfriends at the end, they have to keep working on eachother. Just the simple "Why is this so scary" when they got together was so genuine, I really felt that.
I think what works so well about The Owl House Season 2 being crammed with plot is that Season 1 has already invested us fans. Season 1 already had filler and plot alike to give us more insight into the characters and like them, so Season 2 exploring aspects of them that are also related to the plot is very welcome.
Yesterday's Lie is kinda underrated though. It was my favorite episode of the show, and not just because of the scene at the end which is the only thing I see people mentioning about it.
I agree. So is the ''Eclipse Lake'' episode... It had a great adventure story, it focused on two of my favorite characters _(And their battle at the end, which I still consider to be one of the best, most well-animated battles of all time PERIOD),_ developed it's lore more then any other Disney Channel episode ever could _(Except for maybe True Colors from Amphibia)_ yet still keeping a boatload of mysteries yet to be uncovered; and how could we forget: That beautifully sarcastic suicidal scene at the end, where Hunter tries to f**king bury himself alive!
The Owl House seems way too good to be a Disney property. It is so well made and progressive, it makes me so happy. Although it can’t top Avatar, it’s still fantastic
I feel that the only reason that people think this is because they don't do much with her. Like she has potential for growth they just don't use her like I want to know how/why her plant magic is so powerful
@Mia Pedriana Yeahh I agree with most of that. I think they could’ve used it as an example of mending relationships with people you’ve hurt/fallen out eith. I don’t think they should be besties even if Amity “had reason” to be deemed bully, so imo they could use them as an example of setting boundaries and progressing past old friends
I think James meant that he didn't like Willow since season 1, so her having no presence in this season apparently makes him like it more. Can't say I agree with that assesment, but eh, he gave The Owl House praise so I can't complain.
@@dullicecream if willow doesnt specifically want an apology from amity and doesnt mention wanting one, if the character gives amity the chance to do right by her wrongs without apology, then willow just doesnt need the apology in order for her to feel better about the abuse suffered from amity. although i just wanna see more of willow. shes adorable and needs more screentime that develops her. :3
With all the comments about the Owl House, I thought you were saying that the owl house needed to flesh out their characters more and that @NeptuneOW was saying that Hunter(toh) needed to die so that “Echo” could step into a leader position. I thought Echo being that mouse thing that Luz has LOL. 😂
I agree totally. Some of it felt half ass. The animation of course not. It is so hot with the Clone wars character/set design.❤❤ The plot twist were Crosshair took out his chip a long time ago directly contradicts the part where the effect of the chip being increased. Plus I didn't like that Omeega was basically a mouth piece for the audience bc she knows so much about the chips for and says stuff like "it isn't your fault". Also, i don't like that she's a girl, bc they just had to. But this isn't the greatest of my worries.😊 On that note, I really wish the chip only influenced the killing jedi part of order 66 and not their entire character(s). I feel despite being the bad guys they are still clones and hav the capacity to be responsibly polite. Also lots of the episodes, like Infested and their countless side quests that they do for Sid felt like filler. Infested felt more boring and pointless then The Great Divide in Avatar (just in my personal opinion. This isn't objective😊).
When SCHAFF was like “everyone thought this was gonna be a filler episode about hooty. fuckimg cretins.” That was literally just me and my gf when we watched Ep 8
My god The Owl House has been a phenomenal ride thusfar. Everything is just so well done (especially Lumity, they're so good individually but when they pair up its beautiful), it's given me so much joy and made me quite emotional at times, which is really refreshing for me. As someone who's struggled with chronic disease for most of my life, Eda's arc especially hits close to home. Also the freaking Hooty episode got me to change my Discord profile picture for the first time in 4 years. I never change that, and this show hit me so hard that I just had to. I don't really recommend shows to other people because I don't watch a lot of shows, I don't have a lot of knowledge on this kind of thing, and I'm a naturally reserved person, but The Owl House is that good that it made me. This show, for me may only ever be topped by ATLA and the Clone Wars finale arc, and there's still more of it to come. 10/10 show. Thank you for being in my life when I needed you most.
I have never seen the owl house but it really entertained me when the gay relationship was announced and 65 year olds crawled out of their holes to call it child prn. Really fucking funny
Also, Disney didn’t screw over Owl House because of Lumity, but because they’ve been short-changing a lot of their shows in the third season, like Big Hero 6: The Series and Marvel’s Spider-Man. Kind of a reason why I’m worried for Amphibia season 3.
Enchanting Grom Fright and Knock, Knock, Knockin' on Hooty's Door are absolute godsends of modern children's cartoon shows. I am so hyped for the rest of The Owl House. This show is incredible on so many levels!
@Patricio Escamilla Mues did Amity really need to almost lose her library job because of Luz no it didn't need to happen and the show would be fine Amity being hurt by Luz happens a few times in the show but her losing the job made no sense just makes it a cute thing they did together
I agree to an extent. I think getting to actually spend time with them as a couple is actually a lot better than constantly moving closer to being one. You get the same level of attachment but instead of only getting it at the end we're spending the majority of our season with it being a thing.
I never disliked Hooty, I did think the mean-spirited jests hurled at him in S1 was a bit excessive. And I definitely thought the tidal wave of hate Lilith recieved after her revelation was 100% maximum no chill lol Lulu and Hootsifer's friendship was my favourite thing in the first few eps of S2A, and when Lilith left I was genuinely shocked, bc what??? Hooty JUST got a friend omg no pls don't do this to him- That being said, I didn't expect much from ep 8 as the summary seemed so filler-y. I'm so glad I was wrong 😆✨ I said it before, and I'll say it again, Hooty is the MVP Also I'm pretty sure we'll get at least ONE ep centered around Willow. Right??
Good to see another person who likes Hooty, I was shocked that he was my favorite character and I hate how everyone treated him in season 1. I’m so glad he found a genuine friend in Lilith
I'm indifferent to Hooty mostly cause I see him as the Zoidberg of Owl House. Meaning I feel like he's the butt of jokes mostly for no reason but then he does stuff that slightly justifies it.
I didn’t like Hooty in season 1. He’s the literal Owl House and was rarely shown protecting it properly. Which is his job. I’m happy they have been making him more useful with a the recent fun episode and his friendship with Lilith. I’m happy he’s not going to go down in history with Ponyhead from Star.
Knock Knock Knocking on Hooty's door made me dab like, 5 times throughout, and mind you, dabbing is the cringiest, most degenerate thing a person could do
I personally didn't like hooty in season 1, Mostly because he seemed like a character who didn't need to be there aside from literally being the owl house. Almost everything he did seemed like a "ha,ha so random" type of thing. He felt more like an obnoxious background element than an actual character. But now I really like him, he has goals, aspirations and a lot more depth was added to his personality. Honestly, I think me hating him in season 1 made his arc have an even bigger pay-off. Because a lot of the complaints I had about him were also the insecurities and problems he had to deal with.
@@not_ateral I believe in the 80’s and 90’s a lot of anime series got stretched out because they came on par with the manga, and sometimes the manga got delayed, so the people making the anime just made stuff up to fill in while the manga came out. The most notorious example is Dragon Ball z.
If there’s anything consistent about animated Star Wars shows, it’s that season 1 is always high potential with only decent execution, but season 2 always blows season 1 out of the water.
When I watched season 1 of the owl house, I thought it was.. okay, not great, as everyone seemed to think, just perfectly okay with fun characters and sometimes funny jokes. Season 2 on the other hand, has been EXCLUSIVELY amazing episodes, it is insane how the writers just decided they wanted to make a masterpiece. Season 2 has quickly become a favorite and it is 100% going down as one of the greats when it’s over.
While I still loved season 1 there’s just something about season 2 that’s magical. Every episode of the first half was great. Like they really put their heart and soul into this season. And I cannot wait for the second half.
Its mostly just because the Disney executives controlled a lot about what happened in season 1, after season 2 the team got much more creative freedom and was able to make the show they wanted to make

That was a great ending, especially Luz's reaction when she gets back to Eda. I'm curious to see what's going to happen next in the second half of the season.
I love Amber from Eda's Requiem. She was in the episode for less than a minute but HOLY SHIT SHE IS CUTE!! All her lines makes me say ' Aw' . As a 16-year-old lesbian, Lumity has made me more excited than I can even begin explain. It is beyond euphoric to finally see good (actually, any) wlw representation in children's media. I honestly never even realized how important representation is for underrepresented groups until I realized who I was and felt alienated and isolated. I'm so glad people are finally overstepping the bs old "hush hush" nature of lgbtq+ relationships. I'm watching the Owl House with my first grade and third grade aged brother and sister and I can't wait for them to get to this part so it can organically and naturally open up the door to a conversation (if they want to have it). I want them to know that being lgbtq+ is normal and natural, but bringing it up out of nowhere feels almost disingenuous. I'm so glad to have this show that I could scream. I finally feel so represented, especially because of the fact that Amity and I both had purple hair when the season came out. The owl house does something that BOTH kids and adults can enjoy, and here's my hot take on what I enjoy: The absolute dissection of magic through reasoning and logic to make leaps in technology, such as using runes, combining runes, or integrating said magic into technology like Emperor Belose's giant rebuilt door which seems to be fueled by palisman blood to activate it. This is what's known as Thamuel Magic: where Magic is dissected, studied, maintained and harnessed through technology that runs off of and relies on said magic: We also know of a dark liquid that cancels out magic as well from the episode "the other lie": it could be a liquid form of titans blood, or more likely an intangible liquid form of corrupted titans blood (Which would be useless to use as it would make the door Luse summoned probably even worse), the key quality of this liquid is it disintegrates magic that tries to activate. Thamuel Magic has always interested me because I work for a science division, and even then I'm astounded by what the show pulls off, every facet of it is dripping with magical logic and reason.
@@not_ateral An thing called Thamuel Magic, which the show explores VERY extensively. Thamuel Magic in the most basic terms is: Combining technology and magic in perfect harmony in order to better the worlds science and harnessing of magic. An perfect example is the put together door emperor belos has "custody" of. Palisman blood seems to be a requirement to jumpstart it... but why? Why palisman blood?
@@helenaperez4343 yeah but it's still frustrating. It felt like a way to get a cheap joke when they could have shown King's relative (I hesitate to call him King's dad cuz of the carvings, I feel like the demon we saw was some other relative like an uncle or something)
What I really like about Monster's At Work is that they're showing a period of time that got kinda skipped over in the movie. At the end of Monster's Inc there's a small time jump to that ending scene where we see a laugh floor filled up with jokesters, establishing the transition from scare power to laugh power. We needed this little time jump to give us the final scene where Sully sees Boo again but it also doesn't show us any of the struggle that would have come from trying to change the status quo so suddenly. In the first episode we see that many scarers are losing their jobs in this transition, and in a few different episodes they show us that it isn't exactly easy switching to a different power source. It's difficult finding people who want to work as jokesters and there are other power companies still using scare power to compete with Monster's Incorporated. Tylor Tuskman as a character is tied seamlessly into this conflict, since his livelihood was directly impacted by this change. So what we have here is Tylor is trying to balance his new job with his effort to move ahead in spite of the new friends he's making. It's a compelling conflict on paper and I'm hoping they'll flesh the idea out more in the future because they definitely aren't focusing on it as much as they could.
This!!! Thanks for making this elaborate comment it expresses what I think about the show exactly. Also I think it would be cool if they had more serious episodes later on and maybe even have Randall trying to come back from the human world as an antagonist
@Isaiah Stovall I mean the way that can be justified is the fact that they can't produce laugh energy cause they don't have very many funny monsters heck in one episode you see mike is practically carrying the company
@Isaiah Stovall Basically what Nevets said. As powerful as laugh energy is you have to take into account that until recently even Mike and Sulley believed human children were toxic, and many monsters likely still do. Thanks to the large spreading of fear/misinformation there's going to be plenty of skeptics, making it difficult for Monster's Inc to find many monsters that want to put their faith into laugh power this early on. They need to produce larger tangible results first. Basically, it's hard to do anything with it if you don't have enough monsters working to generate it in the first place.
@Isaiah Stovall They're showing that a power company's quota can change depending on environmental factors. In the one episode they're really not generating enough power it's also established there's a heatwave going on. What's not explicitly stated is that they need more power because the entire city is trying to run extra fans and AC units. In most other episodes they're just not meeting requirements because they're understaffed. They really just need to focus more on actual work situations instead of quirky shenanigans.
I think Echo should have been the emotional core of the Bad Batch and have him relate to Omega since they are both new to the Batch and we should have gotten scenes of Crosshair missing his brothers.
I mean, we have gotten the last one once in the episode where Crosshair and his squad kill those civilians. When they return to the barracks, Crosshair looks around the room and at the carved wall
*Say what you want, I freaking love Duncan.* The whole Mysterious Voice scene in the bowling episode had me dying. He's such a horrible and pathetic person but it's so funny.
Controversial statement: I didn’t like Gus in owl house season 1. He was just loud and annoying, and even the detention episode didn’t change that for me. But after the looking glass ruins episode, I liked him way more. They made him an actual person, and toned down his fanboy energy a bit. Even so, I didn’t hate him in season 1. I just think he’s starting to feel like a much more essential part of the show. Also that witch puberty thing was brilliant
Wait so if we consider Mike and Sully's backstory in Monsters University, the long and short of their careers is they basically went from the mail room to CEOs. This is the plot line of "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying".
Holy shit, this is probably my favorite video of yours yet. I haven't even watched The Owl House and hearing the section on it for the second half of the video filled me with so much joy just from the sheer positive energy you both clearly had. Incredible work.
I'm so glad somebody finally mentioned the waste of echo's character in bad batch, it very saddening that his best moment was "is there an echo in here... yes I'm echo"
Echo's shafting as a character is far from an unpopular opinion. If the team behind the Bad Batch looks at any audience response for the second season, Echo's character is going to be the first complaint they see.
Finally got around to watching The Owl House portion of this video as I just finished season 2a (the episodes finally came out on Disney + in the UK) and boy howdy it was a great time. There was no bad episode in the new series imo, so I'm very excited to see where it goes from here. It also confirmed that King and Hooty are the best characters
Monsters at work is okay, The Owl House season 2 so far is amazing and The bad Batch is a GREAT SEQUEL SERIES to Star Wars The Clone Wars, something that Rebels never was Lumity for the win.
Lumity has, hands down, the most believable chemistry out of any pairing in all of children’s media. Aang and Katara? Trash. Dipper and Pacifica? Close, but no cigar. Luz and Amity? _WE STAN THESE GAY CHILDREN._
@@lyraoctavia7518 Katara and Aang was so blugh, he almost literally says “I like you unconditionally” in the first episode, Che three seasons of her rejecting him and Aang never considering any other options even once. Then in the last episode they kiss and I guess they BAang at some point and have three kids. Sokka and Suki is probably the most believable relationship in that show, and it’s established in the course of about one episode. The only other relationship that even comes close to how good Lumity is would have to be Rayla and Callum in The Dragon Prince.
Another man of culture, I thought I was the only one excited about the Hooty episode, a friend recommended the series to me and I adored him since his first appearance.
Honestly season works so extremely well because we care so much about these characters because we got to know them and their development and personality in season 1. Anyone who starts season 2 without watching season 1 first will probably like it a lot less. And even then season 1 was amazing in ways that are less obvious, like how Luz became my favourite character and immediately got stamped with ADHD by me in episode 2 (characters I like a lot will get headcanons from me that I feel fit but are still self projection, like I'm autistic but I knew for a fact Luz had ADHD AND I WAS RIGHT). Season 1 got us invested while having story treads that mattered more on a personal level then the bigger picture. This season just raises the emotions and stakes a bit more. Also this will sound dumb because some people say representation doesn't matter that much but it does a lot, especially different kinds of people are represented in one show. Lemme just grab a list of all the great representation this show has: -Luz for being bisexual and just being a good written (And even accurate) 14 year old with undiagnosed adhd (It was confirmed she has ADHD but I don't think it was ever said if it was diagnosed or not and since women don't get diagnosed as often I'm assuming it's not since she wasn't put in therapy to help her). The latter is very important because neurodivergency if it's in shows that don't focus on it follows stereotypes. Also Latina rep -Raine as non binary that isn't a shapeshifter, don't get me wrong shapeshifters are fun but when that's the only enby rep we get it stops being interesting if there's no other non shapeshifter enby characters -Eda as both a queer woman and with her curse that is portrayed as a chronic illness without the message that it needs a cure. I love the episode with Eda's mom because it shows just how annoying those kinds of people can be to deal with since most often a cure is unlikely to happen anytime soon for people with chronic illnesses. Anyone who says Eda's curse isn't a metaphor (honestly it's too direct to even count as one) for a chronic illness either doesn't have anyone to compare it too or don't want to see it that way. (I can and shall go on a rant why it's like a chronic illness if anyone is interested) -Principal bump is in this list because of how they threat him and how his palisman helps him see. Lovely addition to palisman lore and how they're more then just buddies that help you cast magic -Amity for being a lesbian and a bully who did their best to change after apologising and not immediately getting forgiven by willow -Willow's dads -Hunter has a disability since most witches can do magic with their vile sacks but he can't. -and Gus too (I also head canon him as autistic but I don't think if that'll be confirmed or not) Those are the ones one my top of my head, please tell me if I missed anyone. I love this show, it fills all the things I love and more and I could rant for hours but I'm going to keep it at this. I was sucked in by Eda and the horror sequel world, stayed for one of the best main characters ever, everyone's arcs and personality and of course still Eda the queen. Edit: I wanted to mention amity because during season 1 I thought she was really bland cause I've seen her kind of character way too much. I didnt mind her though since she was done with becoming better a lot faster then other characters like her. And then season 2 happened and now I like her, not my favourite but a good character for sure.
I wanted to hear more about the Rain episode, It was definitely one of my favorites. The instrument scene, the new high tier witches with incredible powers, the fight, their relationship. Aghhh so good
I find it funny how knock knock knocking on hooty’s door on paper sound like the worst idea ever, to tackle three huge plot points at the same time but it does it beautifully
I liked seeing Young Hera & her family. I didn’t realized she had a French accent when she got mad at her dad in Rebels. I enjoy Bad Batch as a whole but S2 will become more fleshed out. Owl House yes!! I’m glad I watched it when it aired in the 1st episode
@@yaboimagnus4776 Technically you’re both right; BB Hunter is emotionally and mentally adult-approximate, but is only really about three to six years old, give or take. Fun with clones and ethics!
I genuinely hope that when you do a video on Season 2B, you talk about Amity confronting Luz in "Follies at the Coven Day Parade" and Luz talking about the important personal event in "Reaching Out." Not only are they heavy hitting and good Lumity moments, they also break the normal clichés of what they're about.
the thing that stood out most for me with Monsters At Work was the character design... you can tell which of the monster designs were Pixar's movie designs, and which ones were new show designs just by a glance. the drop-off in design quality isn't subtle and is kind of distracting. Tylor in particular is an extraordinarily bland design. other than that the show's aesthetic is pretty good, it's got good rendering and decent animation for a TV venture. writing's pretty bland and the jokes are extremely tepid though. not many groaner painful moments of jokes not landing but they pretty much never land anything higher than a 6/10... overall i'd put the show at a 4/10. it's just too clinical and tepid to merity much of a response from me. Bad Batch is... fine, it feels like a decent level Clone Wars season, about on par with Season 2 or 3. cameos are excessive, Omega's pretty good, the team themselves are... fine. it's all fine... nothing special but it has potential. the aesthetic and animation here though are incredible. and the score is fantastic at points, it's definitely elevated by good presentation. 7//10. worth a watch. and Owl House Season 2 has been fucking stellar so far. any show that can have me outright wheezing with laughter and then crying in sympathy in the same episode is a real winner. Lumity being official is fantastic, the continued world-building is really impressive in both its cohesion and creativity. and the characters are just getting deeper and deeper. genuinely fantastic so far. 9/10
Honestly, I think that was one of the few episodes they really did right. They could totally replace filler episodes with episodes like that one that just focus on a character barely related to the bad batch and tell a story through that. It would function the same as a filler episode to space out the series, but still be interesting and not be just Cid missions. I'll admit, I'm slightly biased, though, because I've never seen rebels or the ryloth arc and didn't even know it was a cameo episode until after watching the whole thing.
No it fucking sucked ass and you could have cut it out and replaced it with another generic bounty exposition at the start of the next episode. As if the Bad Batch needs more of those but its better than wasting an entire episode with a side character who is probably not going to show up again while Echo and Tech come out less developed than an arts students life plans.
Snapclapplepop I totally agree! As the season went on, I started to feel bored, and felt dissapointed that they weren’t focusing on other characters like the clone wars did They haven’t really added any depth or character development to the bad batch, and so, there’s nothing new or interesting about them to get us to continue watching. It gets more boring as the series goes on. That’s one of the advantages the clone wars had: it was an anthology show, and could always swap to focusing on something new to keep it interesting
