What a cracking video young lady. Absolutely loved it. Well I used to do a lot of birdwatching with my Old Man when I was younger. Then when I was in my mid teens, I started fishing. Something that I absolutely love and obviously being out in the countryside noticing all the wildlife along the way. anyway, to cut a long story short at work. Yesterday I noticed a large bird of prey. It looked like a kite, but it didn’t have that kind of tail feather. It was more rounded and the main wings had small fingertips on the ends. Looking at the colours from your video, I’m sure it was a male hen Harrier. Not 100% but just looking on your videos. I couldn’t think of anything else. I I’ve noticed lots of buzzards at work and it definitely wasn’t one of those it was definitely a bird of prey and it just looked absolutely awesome. Wish I had taken some photos of it, but I was at work and only managed to see it for about 10 seconds or so. I stumbled across this video by accident. Just trying to see what one look like. Anyway, absolutely brilliant videos and all the best to you in the future.👍😁

Yeah I was lucky, but there are just so many birds in the Hebs you are almost guaranteed to see something special :)

Try to talk to Stephen Murphy he is the hen harrier master and one of the best people you'll ever meet!

Yeah, I like this because it reminds me of my first trip to West Wales to spot red kites when they were endangered. I heard a lot of frenzied quacking across the bog, and when I trained my telescope at it I got my only ever sighting of a male hen harrier, hunting. The weather was comparable.

Hi there, this is a brilliant video! I'm currently making a short film about hen harriers and their conservation, which I'll be using for my entry in the 'Hen Harrier Day Early Career Naturalist Challenge'. I was wondering if I could use this footage? Given your permission, every time your footage features in the video, I would also ensure that your RU-vid channel name is clearly displayed too. Also, if I end up posting the video on my own youtube channel too (very likely), then I will be sure to credit your channel in the description, and encourage people to check out your videos and subscribe to you. I do hope you'd be okay with me using the footage, but if not, that's absolutely fine. The entry deadline is Friday, so if you could get back to me before Thursday at the latest that'd be great! Thanks and best wishes, Alex
