A well explained video, I have just ordered a GoDrive for my 1200 with a PiStorm32Lite w/Pi4 as it's a tidier solution than the internal GoTek that is has now in place of the floppy - it's nice to see the original floppy drive in the machine even it it doesn't get much use these days. Sub +1 :)

119 gigs for an Amiga, Looks like this is becoming a Super A1200! is there even 119GB worth of software available? 😛 great work as always. 🕹👍

PiStorm is a big leap forward in my opinion. Getting an Amiga faster was quite expensive back in the days. Add RGB2HDMI and some other stuff and you sink a pretty penny into that machine. With a PiStorm, you're basically sorted. RTG, fast and with Caffeine and a plipbox you're on the Internet in no time.
@Retro4u
@Retro4u 2 месяца назад
Yeah it’s amazing value for money. And I’m sure there is much more to come from it as it’s developed. It does have some issues compatibility but none that have effected anything I run. But again it’s getting better with each new release . Will of course try the plip box one day thanks for the comment

@@Retro4uHopefully they will get networking to run directly from the Pi, another 50 quid that we don't need to spend. As much as I like real Amigas, the PiStorm is a great bit of kit

Hi, What is the Pistorm32 used for in the amiga? What does it bring? More CPU power? and a MicroSD port for booting on the SD Card like a hard disk? is that it? Where to purchase it please ? Best Regards.
@Retro4u
@Retro4u Месяц назад
Loads more power as a accelerator and of course fast hdd. As well as RTG graphics card and more WIFI is on the way as well. You can find the quite easy just go to eBay and type PISTORM32 you will find them :) thanks for the comment

No matter how many times I go through these steps I can’t get to the workbench install section. Maybe the version of emu68 is corrupt I dunno.
@Retro4u
@Retro4u 2 месяца назад
Are you downloading the correct one. Also make sure you partition is like 200mb or it won’t work. Also they are know to be fussy on sd cards so go for a good make like sandisk. My friend was having issues then changed to sandisk and it was fine. Have you checked on the hdmi to see if the emu logo appears. You can check this in just the pie standalone. Another think is they don’t work with pi zero you need a pi zero 2w if you want it to work with a small pie I tried and I could not get it to boot or display the emulator logo. Hope this helps

Mm. Pistorm future-proofs nothing. For now, it future-proofs CPU emulation for a few years, until no-one is on the Discord anymore - if you know what I mean. (Same with all the other gadgets. It's up to that. It will either be replaced by another gadget for a few years, or not.) Don't know what a GoDrive is, I'm very experienced and have not heard of it in 20 years, but hey, if it takes a solid state storage card and speaks to the IDE interface, it will be good for another couple decades. If it needs firmware updates or looks complicated, it's probably not what you want. It will fail for the same reason as above. Meanwhile, the motherboard chips will likely chug on indefinitely, if taken care of.

I agree with some points of course. :) but as much as I’d love a 060 real Amiga accelerator they are not in my budget. Having the go drive will enable me to load adfs directly and not have to use my failing disks. I get your point though yeah things come and go like they always do. And they will replaced. I mean I’d love to a new Amiga the AAA but the price of the Amiga 1222 is out of reach of most People. I’m just glad 😌 things are still being created and worked on for the amazing machine that is Amiga. Thanks for the comment :)

Maybe because "real" solutions, especially if people want all the extra features that are on offer are massively too expensive and/or hard to source, will suffer from rarity issues and massively increasing costs over time. Good luck trying to find a full rev6 68060 for anywhere near the same price as a pi, let alone mounted to any sort of card that allows connection to you Amiga Also good luck trying to persuade whomever has the right to the 68K line of CPUs to produce a run of 68060 CPUs when the very limited supply of old, second hand, used CPUs runs dry. piStorm offer soo much more for a fraction of the price; really fast CPU emulation, RTG out the box, fast disk speeds using cheap readily available mass produced SD cards, HDMI connectivity, networking (soon), RGB pass through (soon). Given how it works, the piStorm is future proof more so than any "real" solution, given the potential to flip it both software and hardware wise to support any other cheap, mass produced, readily available SBCs on the market. With the software to do the magic (I believe) being readily available for anyone to pick up and rewrite then it will always be there. Same can't be said of your "real" cards (sadly) Real hardware will always be great fun and has it's place, but stop gatekeeping, let people enjoy what they want especially if they are budget conscious.

 @AmigaFanatic1980 I will continue to give the best advice I can to fellow Amiga fans, because I want the Amiga platform to have the best future. To survive, the Amiga needs passionate people who make new real expansions for real Amigas. I think this is popular with those who care less and can spend less time and money. Yet - an emulator for your laptop is free, with blazing speeds - if you turn off some compatibility settings. I speak from experience with previous FPGA solutions. Who will you turn to, when nobody can answer your question in Discord and there's no documentation? General retro and real hardware share the interest in the platform, but when emu becomes product, you will be actively putting the passionate ppl at economic risk and jeopardizing those who want real hw ever getting real expansions again. This is why your POV is wrong; if emu products become more popular than real hw, no more real hw is produced, and so contrary to your statement, "let people enjoy what they want", general retro users will deny that option for real hw users. If you know me, you know I'm 100% for hw replacement in modern components. This speaks mostly towards analog and custom chips. Bypassing the entire motherboard is not the idea, because you're not running an Amiga; it just supplies power (if that) and sits in the plastic case, and otherwise has no relation to Amiga. There is a straight-forward definition of what a platform is. A platform is the motherboard, with its CPU and expansion architecture, and any custom chips. If you're unsure and want to keep your Amiga a real Amiga, ensure that your accelerator 1) has a Motorola 680x0 CPU 2) it and any on-board expansions uses existing Zorro, CPU slot or CPU piggyback connections 3) boots any C= Amiga original KS & WB for that model, incl. early boot, and 4) fully supports the chipset on the motherboard. If all 4 are supported, you're running on real hw, and why not hw made with modern components? Note that these 4 doesn't include peripherals. I can think of any number of applications where you can have multiple processor cards constituting converters and interfaces to modern networks, media, displays, etc. You can use these and still have a real Amiga running, but violate any of the above 4 and you're not supporting the Amiga platform anymore.
