I was a jeweler too in past. But now a collector. I have 8 years experience with precious metals. Gold, platinum, palladium and silver. And my personal favorite is stainless steel jewelry. To be honest. People laugh at my this statement. But i'm saying this after trying all precious metals. I love stainless steel jewelry now. Cheap doesn't always mean low quality. Infact stainless steel is more better in quality than precious metals and cheap too. Plus, i'm only talking about "Rolex 904L and 316L surgical grade" steel.

Also take it to a jeweler and have them buff it, or buy a “sunshine” cloth.

I prefer tarnished antique-like look for silver.

Just use baking soda it will look better than wiping it with a micro fiber cloth

Tip for silver, you should once in a while every few months, though I am lazy so maybe 2-3 time a year for me tops clean it thoroughly. I have a really easy way to do this you will need: 1 silver polishing cloth (your jewler will carry these, often I get one for free if I ask the jewler when I buy something) 2, a bowl, any bowl though something that can hold boiling water and isnt flimsy 3 aluminium foil 4 Baking soda also called sodium bicorbonate or natrium in some places in europe (I know here in norway I found it under the name natrium, found in the baking section.) Steps 1 cover your bown with the foil with the shiny side facing up 2 Pour in a decent amount of baking soda 3 pour boiling water over it 4 put in your jewlery and wait - after putting it in you should see the alumium and baking soda start bubbling around the silver, if this isnt happening add more baking soda. Let this sit for some time, maybe like 10 minutes, if it doesnt look clean enough add more soda and water and wait. 5. Pour out the water and rinse your silver, also give it a little scrub with a brush of some kind (nail brush or toothbrush you arent using works find, just make sure the baking soda is off the jewlery) Dry it off. 6. Polish with your silver polishing cloth 7. rinse and dry. This whole process takes maybe 30 minutes max and it makes your jewlery look almost brand new. I find it more important with chains compared to rings since you get tarnish inbetween links that are really hard to clean with just the polishing cloth, same goes for anything with carving or small groves, nooks and cranies. Now I will add that it wont get 100% of it off, but it is a very cheap and effective method to get rid of almost all of it, instead of getting a deep clean from a jewler everytime the links are getting abit dirty.

Sorry for this whole essay, if you are a TL;DR kinda person just search cleaning silver with baking soda and you will find videos on this.

Tbh just buy platinum even if it's expensive. It's gonna last u a life time and there is no need to take care of it because it doesn't lose it's shine no matter what u do
