I started out with a $1500 dollar car and bought and sold cars I liked and always wanted to own until I had the car of my dreams. You can do. Most cars depreciate to a certain level and then climb back up. Understanding car values can help you attain cars currently out of your reach. In this introductory discussion I give a bit of insight on how I think about this as well as some examples. I hope this inspires you. You can do it! **one note. The car pictured is a 2 seat car and not the 2+2. Ironically in making my point of the 4 seat being long and the 2 seat being short.. I bumble a bit in the voice over . Thanks for watching !!

I have been dreaming about owning a Lotus Esprit for years, and it has come true, yet. Maybe, I will hit the lottery one day. Who knows?

It was really all I thought about car wise early on. Once I got one it was truly everything I had hoped it would be. It can happen !

It can happen!! I did this when I was 16. Eventually I went from a $150 Honda to a $26,000 Car over the course of a few years. I wish I could continue in the same fashion now, but family and life has drastically slowed me down. I’m picking up some steam again and was able to get an Esprit that needed a fair amount of love, but I’m so money ahead. Keep your focus, and buy right. It helps when enthusiasts know you’re an enthusiast. Better deals seem to happen your way when others are looking out for you.

Tim, I’m the guy that bought a Lotus S4S and commented on your review (of yours) which was spot on. Having watched this vid of yours I am going to have to now watch everything you have done because I have a 928 which I have my eye on (looking for a while), the XJ220 is definitely the outstanding undervalued super super car that will hit stratospheric prices in the future, and your overall understanding of what needs to be done in buying is spot on. Comforting that my automotive philosophies are being validated. Cheers Tim.

Great vid Tim. I have my 84 Toyota Land Cruiser which has appreciated. My 88 Porsche 88S4...not too much...but a great car. My fav of the bunch is my 96 Volvo 850R sedan...auto. with IPD tasteful mods and IPD tune it's 280hp.A little sleeper and comfortable.

All of those are on the way up so I would say you’re sitting pretty to either have 3 very desirable and rare cars or a great place to flip and go up to the next value bracket. The Land Cruiser in particular is getting very valuable very fast . Thanks for watching and sharing your collection!

You had a car dealership 😮 It is one of my dreams to one day have a car dealership in which I’d only sell cars I like.

As a collector, how do you avoid the trap of "attachment" to the cars you purchase to flip? Especially when you are buying cars YOU like?

Are they your dream cars? If not, they're parked in the way - you need to move them on for a profit so you can progress to the next level...

@@LucoreAuto If you get attached to a car and want to keep it then good for you, but there's an opportunity cost to every choice you make. I don't know the number or combined value of your current car collection, but if someone emptied your garage but gave you $100k, would you buy the cars you've currently got and spend any change on adding to your collection, or would you spend that money on other cars instead? What if it was $250k? $500k?

Some real wisdom here
@LucoreAuto
@LucoreAuto 4 года назад
@@Stormy177 very very valid points good Sir! The issue I personally run into is more a matter of checking boxes. Nothing I can buy checks all the boxes I need, so end up with multiple great cars and projects for different circumstances and situations. There's a big difference I think between people who buy cars to flip and make money for the next great thing, versus those who buy a specific car to have it build it and enjoy it. But your wisdom is certainly recieved!
