Dad's 1966 10 speed still had twin sticks. They ran 20" wheels back then too, so 55mph was pushing it.. 22.5" wheels are the standard now days but most heavy hauling guys run 24" wheels. I always ran heavy and always ran the 24" wheels, sometimes called "Tall Rubber". Running empty you always take off in 3rd or 4th gear. Running bobtail we always took off in like 4th gear and shifted 2 gears at a time until we got to the top 2 or 3 gears. Running bobtail, taking off in 4th and shifting 2 gears at a time, you don't have any problems keeping up with the cars.

The goal should be to have a company of at least 3 drivers that is self-sufficient.

"I don't want any tickets." Proceeds to roll through red lights to right on red and stop signs, sits at a green arrow, and doesn't move until yellow arrow is half done. 😂

Nice series! I've only ever played realistic economy. I drive purely for the fun of deliveries and exploration, plus it scratches the realism itch.

Just downloaded the gdc economy mod and started from scratch. Bought my favorite truck, the old R model mack. Theres just something about those old sloppy sounding macks that just makes me happy. My second favorite would have to be 3406b or 2406E cat

I play Ets and Ats with real economy, I always repay my loan in a ingame week from monday to next monday. Then I fix my truck an trailer, slowly and steady I make monney ingame. in Ats my starter is the oldschool Mac on the steamworshop, and for Ets2 the oldschool Scania T. Happy trucking good sir. I do hope this series will continue for a long while 🙂

It's wild too see they have Aberdeen on here, I grew up there🤣. Favorite engine 3406e cat. My log truck has a 3406b with the screws turned to it but it still doesn't compete with the 3406e in my old truck

This is really fun and awesome looking, i installed this mod and also the realistic fuel and economy, started a new profile and i'm running on manual shift for the first time (using a controller), since this truck is slow, i'm having a nice time learning how to shift it (i don't drive irl but i know how machines work). I'm not using full-gps as well, so good!! Awesome channel and content!

The old original engine would more than likely have been a 220 horsepower non turbo. Of course`over the years anyone in their right mind would have upgraded it to a turbo because of the free power and mileage. Even the 10 speed trans would more than likely been twin stick. Lots of 3+4 and 4+4 twin stickis back then. back in the day everything shifted at 2100 rpm or above. Cruising at 2000 rpm

I'd have to say the good ol 3408 CAT takes the cake for best truck engine in my opinion

I think the goal to success would be to have all the loans paid off, money in the bank of like $500,000 and at least 10 hired drivers with trucks. And of course have a decent upgraded truck of your choice to be driving.

Not really played much ATS but have done a fair bit of ETS2. This seems like a good idea tho may jump in and give it a go as i like a bit of a challenge on my playthrus

But, I think I would have kept running loads without buying my own truck first for this profile and build up the money first. Get a better truck with good power to then run the loads and go from there.

Can't play the game because SCS have forgotton to put adequate reversing lights in the game. Night deliveries are wholly unrealistic and nigh on impossible as there's not enough illumination. No truck driver has to deal with such dark and unilluminated facilities. It's a crying shame that something so vital to the game is ignored whilst SCS are too busy adding new states to rectify this obvious oversight. Also I've just had to abandon a specialist heavy haul because of a bug which meant I couldn't get out of the loading yard as all the exits from the loading area (Wichita Falls, Texas) shown on the screen were closed. This, together with the complete lack of illumination which made it imppossible to navigate the area has ruined the game for me. It's not realistic as no truck would be deemed roadworthy with such weak back lights and no truck yard would be so unsafely dark so it's just lazy of them not to do anything about it. You either actually fix the back lights or you illuminate the loading/unloading yards. It's not difficult to do, they've had lots of complaints about this and they won't do anything about it. Very disappointing.
