Juvenile. Perfect word do describe it. The obsession with gender and sexual orientation. Also being anti authority and anti law enforcement. I used to be anti authority and anti police and would watch police brutality videos and anti government videos when I was in middle school. Then I grew up and realized the criminals are the real evil ones. That's what alot of these problems come from in America young people being juvenile and immature and not wanting to grow up.
@stonytina5177
@stonytina5177 Месяц назад
"Then I grew up and realized the criminals are the real evil ones." Indeed, criminals are evil. You should also realise that the Milgram experiment led to the conclusion that cops have the same psychological profile as the SS officers that shoved people into gas chambers. What's most scary about the Milgram experiment, is that one in three individuals have that particular psychological profile where they clearly show a willingness to kill someone because a "higher authority" told them it was okay to do so. On a more abstract level, one can argue that those people are willing to kill someone else who doesn't fit in with their moral framework. IMO cops are worse than criminals because cops think they are doing it for the good of mankind, while criminals know they are acting bad. The worst tyrants are those who think of themselves as benevolent, for they will do the most horrible stuff and feel good about themselves.

This is its orig meaning, because it also became an important neo-Marxist concept strongly related to "personal/individual experience". "Superordinate" - the predominant, superior, high-level, prevailing - in effect the highest-level, dominant. "Meta" - higher-level, abstract, utilizing concepts/language (metalanguage) describing the underlying level(s) or lower-level concepts. Together: the predominant narration describing/generating other narrations, and thus being the basis for these metastasis/-es (medical term describing growing, developing and spreading cancer; proliferation(s) ) of Marxist ideas.

I appreciate her clarity of thought, and I agree: the breakdown is an outcome of subversion - primarily in education, which bleeds into all facets of society. The largest grievance I find is the violence done to language and its plain meaning: distorting communications is a path to oblivion. And also, it seems the general insistance that publishing has become the prime directive of anyone teaching is a problem: new inventions arrive because of quotas that ought not exist. Maybe some professors are quite capable of delivering context and aiding students in achieving mastery of a subject without publishing anything - but government grant money speaks louder than some administrators conscience.

Also in the leftish mobility policies one can see this hierarchy inversion, and the idea of the strong versus the weak, being the car versus the pedestrian and bicyclist. This hierarchy needs to be inverted and the speed of the car needs to be controlled until slower than public transport. Public transport is collectivist transport, versus the individualism of the car. First the car needs to be humiliated, then restricted, then abolished. Individuals can't be allowed to govern themselves, which is exactly what car drivers do.

Thanks for the interview! It is great, and though I am not through yet, here are a few thoughts about why there was no - well - reckoning for socialism in the 90ies. (around min 30) First: no victors like after WW 2. The collapse of the "Eastern block" came as an act of a peaceful revolution after Gorbatschow signaled with his Perestroika approach that he wasn't that willing to brutally beat down people. Though it was still a risk, because no one really knew, if the still existing factions willing to beat down the demonstrators would prevail or not. So there was no one to force a Nuernberg Trial. Secondly: Where there was an attempt in that direction (Germany comes to mind), the departments charged with that became in virtually no time at all absolutely corrupted, because suddenly there were a lot of career opportunities and a not-insignificant common property to distribute. It was a real Wild West atmosphere, and the same people who proved to be egotistical and morally suspect by their behavior were the same who then tried to tell those who stood up against the system and brought it toppling down what democracy is. And that is the difference between 45 and 89; there was no morally superior victor outside of those countries, and because the Western countries swooped in where they could and basically bought most of those countries up (and made sure they would become competitors anytime soon), the people in those countries that successfully toppled their systems had no time to do that either, they were too busy trying to survive the economic attack of market players they were - of course - too naive to understand.

Fascinating discussion here, and JP's next book needs to have quotes from Ayaan Hirsi Ali. The central theme presented here is of divisive subgroups stifling "the pursuit of truth" and replacing it with the "ownership" of an artificial narrative/truth substitute. Socialism is the best example of a Weapon of Mass Disinformation... From the psychological perspective, it is interesting that the envy and jealousy of Cain is the central tension-motivator for a violent revolution, which JP correlates with the WMD of revolutionary socialism. But from a logical perspective, I think the socialists somehow think they are using deductive reasoning. Karl Marx and L. Ron Hubbard both start with flawed definitions of terms, and then build their false narratives. Anyone reading their works (while accepting these flawed definitions) may fall down the rabbit hole and think their works are natural constructions of foundational First Principles... Truth is outside our heads, and concrete reality is the referee between our minds. Within our heads are established conventions, assumptions, and emotions. Dictionaries are bridges between strangers. Change the dictionary with "definition drift" and people lose calm control of their cognitive tools.

Jordan Peterson's critique of Marxism as a reductionist victim-victimizer narrative not only misinterprets Marxist theory but also reveals a profound misunderstanding of its fundamental principles and contemporary relevance. Peterson's portrayal of Marxism as a simplistic narrative of oppression overlooks its nuanced analysis of societal structures, economic systems, and power dynamics. Firstly, Peterson's comparison of Marxism to the biblical story of Cain and Abel demonstrates a reductionist approach. Marxism, unlike Peterson's characterization, is not merely about victims and victimizers; rather, it offers a comprehensive critique of capitalism's economic base. Marxists argue that the capitalist mode of production inherently creates and perpetuates inequality through the exploitation of labor by capital owners. This exploitation is not a matter of mere narrative but a material reality rooted in the economic relations of production. Marxism goes beyond simplistic victimization narratives by analyzing how economic structures shape societal outcomes. At its core, Marxist theory examines how the means of production-such as factories, land, and resources-are owned and controlled. This ownership fundamentally determines the distribution of wealth and power in society. The bourgeoisie, who own the means of production, exploit the proletariat by extracting surplus value from their labor, resulting in wealth accumulation for the few at the expense of the many. Moreover, Marxism critiques the ideological superstructure that supports and legitimizes capitalist exploitation. Ideologies such as individualism, meritocracy, and the myth of social mobility serve to justify and maintain the status quo, obscuring the systemic nature of economic inequality. By focusing solely on economic factors, Peterson overlooks how these ideological constructs reinforce capitalist hegemony and perpetuate social divisions. Contrary to Peterson's assertion of economic reductionism, contemporary Marxist theory has evolved to incorporate a multidimensional analysis of power relations. This includes understanding how political institutions, cultural norms, and ideological apparatuses contribute to maintaining capitalist domination. Scholars like Antonio Gramsci expanded Marxist theory to include cultural hegemony, highlighting how ruling classes use cultural institutions to maintain their grip on power through consent rather than coercion alone. Peterson's critique also ignores Marxism's prescriptive aspect. Marxists don't just analyze societal problems; they advocate for revolutionary change to overthrow capitalist systems and establish a classless society based on equitable distribution of resources and democratic control of production. This transformative goal aims to eliminate exploitation and create conditions for genuine social justice, rather than perpetuating a cycle of victimhood. Furthermore, Peterson's juxtaposition of Marxism with Nazism is not only intellectually dishonest but historically inaccurate and morally reprehensible. Nazism, a fascist ideology rooted in racial superiority and industrialized genocidal violence, stands in stark contrast to Marxism's critique of economic inequality and exploitation. Equating Marxism with Nazism not only trivializes the horrors of fascism but also demonstrates a gross misrepresentation of Marxist goals and methods.

Instead of breaking into tribes. You make cultural tribes in specific areas to keep culture and community more connected in specific ways, still have countries n such but melding tribal, cultural, national, and patriotism all together is what it'll take. Then potentially, free non manipulative monitoring for free heavenly living and knowledge. Make it so all needs can nit just generation livibg space to living space but town to town as well. Town to town first for communal stability then homes/completely envision new apartment structures. While that for the majority of people you make pretty much a hive city, that produces its all within automated. Then another system of everything that can be done mostly automated by natural means. Prevents its collapse. Make them safe from everything possible and use those cities as the hubs around the world for different cultures n so on. Global web of then making our species space faring and or light peeps :×

Been listening to JBP for 12 yrs. I really enjoyed his lectures. I have his books but the man makes assumptive leaps that seem to go unchallenged in many cases. I still try to find his nuggets of wisdom but I fear he's been what they call "captured" now. I'm not a marxist TBC. Example: min 2:32, "In an Envious manner". He reduces it to that based on a professional 'Opinion', but that's his judgement not a fact. Marx was upper-middle class and his collaborators were also well off. Sources: Hunt, Tristram. Marx's General: The Revolutionary Life of Friedrich Engels. New York: Metropolitan Books, 2009. | Sperber, Jonathan. Karl Marx: A Nineteenth-Century Life. New York: Liveright Pub. Corp, 2013.

You will need more examples than "In an Envious manner" to conclude that JP "makes assumptive leaps". I absolutely agree with JP that envy and jealousy are primary tension-motivators for Marxist continuous-redistribution economics. Maybe someone could make a counter-argument that Command And Control economics "saves" people from the imagined "threats" of inequality, but altruism is not the motivator for violent revolutions. What does it mean to say JP is "captured"?

Whose truth is it? Doesn't ownership imply it isn’t a universal truth? Truth is that even a painter of my calibre has to clean his brushes and rollers on a Saturday morning. That's no humble boast. Let's look and think carefully on this, subversion is a disorientation of the senses, it has a relative effect on the truth that turns up and the one we're able to show up for. Information is the granular ingredient of truth, and then it all depends on your sources and how it matters in a sense of future. Strangely, it's already moving you there.

Marx if that's how his name is spelled, split oppressed and oppressors in the minds of the well connected at the time. Therefore the start of a global market through internal information that wasn't suppressed by the current norms of the time? Leading to a spiral of understandings around a split principle made from an economic happenstance that was marx.

Speaking of victimhood, Isaac and his half brother Ishmael were also like Cain and Abel. Isaac (whom the Jews descended from) was favoured by God but Ishmael (the illegitimate son, hence the victim, and from whom Muslims descended from) was not. Ishmael and his descendants, to this day, claim they are the victims though, like Cain, they are the ones doing the killing

The key difference between Nazism and Marxism is that racial superiority can be easily denounced, whereas Marx's ideas sound appealing (at least at face value in the eyes of the layman). Our education system does such a poor job of teaching history that people are still enticed into adopting the ideology, so much so that educators still proudly label themselves Marxists.

Dear Dr. Peterson, I am writing to express my deep concern over your persistent use of the term "Cultural Marxism" in your public discourse. This phrase, often perpetuated by right-wing commentators, has troubling parallels with the rhetoric used by Anders Breivik, the Norwegian terrorist responsible for the 2011 attacks that claimed 77 lives. "Cultural Marxism" originated from a conspiracy theory that claims Marxist theorists, primarily from the Frankfurt School, sought to subvert Western culture through a gradual takeover of institutions such as universities, media, and politics. This supposed infiltration aims to dismantle traditional values, including family, religion, and national identity, to pave the way for a Marxist utopia. However, this narrative is not only historically inaccurate but also fundamentally dishonest. It grossly misrepresents the works of critical theorists and attributes to them a coordinated, malevolent intent that never existed. You have popularized the term "Cultural Marxism" in your critiques of contemporary social justice movements, political correctness, and identity politics. According to you, these movements are the modern manifestations of Marxist ideology, seeking to undermine Western civilization. You argue that the emphasis on group identity and victimhood perpetuated by these movements threatens individualism, free speech, and the very foundations of Western culture. Your rhetoric is deeply problematic for several reasons. First, it conflates diverse and complex social movements with a monolithic and sinister ideology. This oversimplification obscures the legitimate grievances and aspirations of marginalized groups, reducing their struggles to mere pawns in a grand conspiratorial narrative. Second, it invokes a sense of existential threat, painting social justice advocates as enemies of civilization. This not only delegitimizes their causes but also incites hostility and paranoia among your followers. Anders Breivik's manifesto, which he released before his horrific attacks, is rife with references to "Cultural Marxism." Breivik believed that European culture was under siege by Marxists who sought to destroy it through multiculturalism and immigration. He viewed his violent actions as a necessary defense against this perceived threat. The striking similarity between Breivik's and your rhetoric cannot be ignored. While you have never endorsed violence, your language evokes the same apocalyptic vision of a society on the brink of collapse due to Marxist subversion. This creates a fertile ground for radicalization, as it validates the fears and resentments of individuals who may be inclined towards extremist solutions. The normalization of "Cultural Marxism" as a legitimate critique in mainstream discourse lends credibility to the ideas that fueled Breivik's terrorism. As a public intellectual, you have a profound responsibility to ensure that your words do not contribute to a climate of fear and hatred. The invocation of "Cultural Marxism" is not a neutral academic critique but a charged political weapon that has real-world consequences. By framing social justice movements as an existential threat, you not only distort reality but also perpetuate a dangerous myth that can incite violence. Moreover, the use of "Cultural Marxism" is intellectually dishonest. It grossly misrepresents the intentions and impact of critical theory and ignores the rich, diverse contributions of Marxist thought to social critique. It simplifies complex social phenomena into a binary struggle between good and evil, us and them, fostering division rather than understanding. Addendum On the Death-Toll of Anti-Communism. Global Conflicts and Anti-Communist Campaigns The Korean War (1950-1953) The Korean War starkly illustrates the devastating consequences of anti-communist fervor. Rooted in the ideological clash between North Korea (backed by China and the Soviet Union) and South Korea (supported by the United States and other Western nations), this brutal conflict led to approximately 2.5 million civilian and military casualties. This war, part of the broader Cold War strategy to contain communism, inflicted untold suffering on the Korean Peninsula. The Vietnam War (1955-1975) The Vietnam War further exemplifies the horrific toll of anti-communist crusades. Driven by the fear of communism spreading throughout Southeast Asia, this prolonged conflict saw North Vietnam and the Viet Cong pitted against South Vietnam and its principal ally, the United States. The resulting death toll, ranging from 1.5 to 3.5 million, encompassed both military personnel and countless civilians. The war’s devastation extended beyond borders, deeply scarring Vietnamese society and contributing to widespread regional instability. The Afghan-Soviet War (1979-1989) In Afghanistan, the Soviet invasion and subsequent war against Mujahideen fighters, supported by the United States and other Western countries, resulted in over a million deaths. This conflict, often viewed as a pivotal moment in the global effort to counter Soviet influence and communism, wreaked havoc on the Afghan population and left a lasting legacy of destruction and instability in the region. Suppression of Communist Movements and Rebellions Latin America Throughout the latter half of the 20th century, the United States embarked on a campaign to suppress communist and socialist movements across Latin America, supporting numerous military dictatorships in the process. In countries like Chile, Argentina, and Guatemala, these anti-communist campaigns led to thousands of deaths through state-sponsored violence, disappearances, and torture. The tragic events in Latin America highlight the brutal measures taken to eradicate leftist ideologies, often at the expense of democracy and human rights. Indonesia (1965-1966) Indonesia witnessed one of the most violent anti-communist purges in history, with an estimated 500,000 to 1 million people massacred following an attempted coup blamed on the Communist Party of Indonesia (PKI). This purge, supported by Western governments, illustrates the extreme lengths to which anti-communist forces would go to eliminate perceived threats, resulting in profound and lasting trauma for the Indonesian people. Proxy Wars and Cold War Strategies The Cold War era was marked by numerous proxy wars and military interventions aimed at curbing the spread of communism. These conflicts, fueled by ideological rivalry, often resulted in significant casualties: Angola and Mozambique In Angola and Mozambique, prolonged civil wars were exacerbated by Cold War dynamics, resulting in hundreds of thousands of deaths. These African nations became theaters for superpower competition, with local populations bearing the brunt of the conflict. Central America Conflicts in El Salvador, Nicaragua, and Guatemala saw substantial loss of life as part of the effort to prevent communist influence in the region. These wars, driven by external anti-communist agendas, inflicted profound suffering on local communities, perpetuating cycles of violence and instability. Comparing the Death Tolls Deaths Attributed to Communist Regimes It is undeniable that communist regimes have been responsible for significant loss of life, particularly in the Soviet Union under Stalin, China under Mao, and Cambodia under the Khmer Rouge. Conservative estimates suggest: Soviet Union: Between 6 to 9 million deaths due to purges, forced labor camps, and famine. China: Estimates range from 15 to 45 million during the Great Leap Forward and Cultural Revolution. Cambodia: Approximately 1.7 million under the Khmer Rouge. In total, estimates of deaths attributable to communist regimes vary but are often cited in the range of 50 to 100 million over the course of the 20th century. The Human Cost of Anti-Communism When comparing these figures to the cumulative deaths resulting from anti-communist campaigns, wars, and interventions, it becomes evident that the death toll of those fighting against communism is substantial. The Korean and Vietnam Wars alone account for millions of deaths, not to mention the countless lives lost in Latin America, Africa, and other regions where anti-communist efforts were aggressively pursued. The ideological crusade against communism has left a legacy of devastation, raising critical questions about the human cost of such relentless opposition. Conclusion While the atrocities committed by communist regimes cannot be ignored, a comprehensive analysis reveals that the global effort to fight communism has also resulted in immense loss of life and suffering. The wars, purges, and interventions conducted in the name of anti-communism have wrought destruction on a massive scale, often targeting innocent civilians and destabilizing entire regions. In the quest to understand the true cost of ideological conflict, it is imperative to recognize the profound human toll of both communism and the relentless fight against it.
