I concur, great advice. Drum winches do need a level-wind mechanism. I have thought about a new boat, but alas, so many modern boats lack the basics. For now, I'm staying with my old boat that ticks all the boxes. Diesel sterndrive planing hull 1.6 litres to the nautical mile. It's not super fast but is built for heavy seas. Cheers
