The two cabins you visited were built in 1976. There is a third cabin, built around 1990, down that steep road that you didn't follow all the way to the end. That old Scout you saw had an issue driving back up the hill from the mine, where the road was so steep, it couldn't pull fuel from the tank unless the fuel was above a certain level. So, they installed a second fuel tank and had one they used for downhill and one for coming back up.
@rock283
@rock283 2 года назад
I'm curious if reversing up the hill would be a solution, like how it was for the original Model T.

Regarding the arrowhead: Leave nothing but footprints, take nothing but photographs. Big part of the reasons I sub and follow you. Thanks for another great mini-series.
@WmSrite-pi8ck
@WmSrite-pi8ck 2 года назад
That's really a personal choice. I agree you shouldn't harvest a 1/4 ton of rock, but many, many people disagree that it is unethical to take an arrowhead. Especially on public lands for which mining claims are part of the deal. The truck and cabins are a good example of why this rule doesn't always make sense. I think they add to the visit, to the story and to the history. And, if you do, in fact want to harvest a ton of rock you can stake a claim.

I rarely comment on your videos because I watch them on my TV and I don’t know how to comment on there. But I felt the need to tell you that you make my most enjoyable overlanding content that I watch. It’s more than the places you go. It’s your overall approach to overlanding that I find to be the most enjoyable. You have a rig that is attainable and not overly built up with expensive gear. You also have great photography skills as well as a welcoming humble approach. Thank you for taking the time and effort to make these trip videos as well as your how to videos. Wishing you the best in your future adventures.

Took me a while to figure out why I like this guy best out of all the outdoor/ off road type content . I get the vibe from a lot of RU-vidrs that they're smirking or showing off..like look at me and you can't do this ...hard to describe . I never have gotten that from him . His aura and delivery are truly genuine in my opinion, like he's sharing experiences from the perspective of a peer or someone on the same level...no delusions of grandeur haha. Keep it up! Nothing but respect and admiration.

We were in Leslie Gulch the next morning. If you had decided to go and camp in Leslie Gulch we probably would have bumped into each other. You missed out, because the lake is low, which does not happen often. There is a road that is exposed once the water is low. You can head south (the way we went) to a hot spring. Would have made a great place to camp. The rock in the back ground at 16:10 is called Three Fingers. It was used for navigation in the area back in the old days. You can see that rock all around for miles. I can see from near where I live if I can see the horizon off that way. Oddly, I missed a fellow I communicated with often on a forum the last time I was at Leslie Gulch a few years back. Didn't realize it till a year or so later. We drove right past them at the campground on the way into the hot spring. This was a fun one. Thanks for sharing, George.
