I noticed your B complex has trimethylglycine. Is that and/or other glycinate minerals problematic for highly oxalate sensitive people? Also, if ascorbate is not tolerated because of oxalate, is it just best to get vitamin C from food, or can a different kind of C supplement be safe?
i had no idea how many foods i was eating that were very high oxalate, lots of white potatoes and huge amounts of iced tea (black tea), thought i was adding veggies for health, cut those out too, thanks for spreading this important health tip.
I was eating a lot of cashews for a few months and getting wild night sweats when I slept. All of a sudden they went away when I stopped eating nuts altogether
I appreciated this video. I’ve been watching a lot of videos on oxalates and just wanted to caution that most of what I’ve heard is that cooking oxalates in some cases increases the levels of oxalate. It doesn’t necessarily reduce the levels.
Love love love your show. Southwest Louisiana. You gave me hope do enjoy life again. And perhaps saved my life and life of others God bless you and your career.
I react terribly to sunflower, flax and pumpkin seeds too and can't eat animal products or olive oil or other oils either as they give me swollen painful lymph nodes. But olive oil is the worst! Nightshade plants too. Antibiotics and mercury toxicity are no joke and seriously lethal!!!!
I used to have the same problems. I used a lot of mimosa pudica to kill parasites. Parasites come out when the know food is coming into your stomach. Mimosa pudica smothers them & you poop them out. I started out very slowly, & by the 3rd week alot of dead parasites were in the toilet.
You mentioned NSAIDS, but did not discuss details (unless you did later on, in which case, sorry). I did a quick search and learned something I thought I'd quickly share. If you want to avoid oxalates from anti inflammatory pills (NSAIDS) then avoid the triple A's. Advil, Aspirin, Aleve. Aspirin is ibuprofen and Aleve is naproxen but triple A is easy to remember. Cherrio!
I’m a little confused from your comment. You said by avoiding the AAA as you avoid oxalates from NSAIDs and then immediately after that you said that Aleve is naproxen and therefore safer where as in the sentence before you included it in the AAA’s.
@@robbiewood3956 I think I see your confusion, sort of. Aspirin and Aleve are just brand names. The actual name of the compounds are ibuprofen and naproxen. Example: Peruvian blow is actually just cocaine.
I wouldn't worry bout it Just steam and juice majority of veggies and if cutting out all gluten sources also up ur beans and tofu and nuts/seeds for extra cals
Ya, feel like my whole world just crashed. Everything I eat is on those lists! Spent years on different diets and suppliments and plans to get well. AIP diet was kast one but didn't help. I know I have high oxalate from last biofeedback back I did. Off grains, gluten also. Mostly vegetarian so eating like a carnivore sounds horrible. Screw gardening. Doing chicken and eggs.
Stay well 🙏🏻 Years ago wanted to grow all my organic foods myself…. hard work….. but was getting worse and worse… learned about lectins is hard way. Was already on gluten free but introduced too much plants high in oxalates 😢….and now bringing more animal products into my diet because I basically can’t tolerate any food.
Maybe it was meant in comparison to black tea. Also check what kind of portion they allotted for the green tea. I have looked at several charts and lists and green tea was on the high oxalate list on them.
1:12:59 ALSO: "Baking *powder*" containes ALUMINUM. baking powder is often confused with "baking soda" "Baking Soda" should be ONLY: Sodium Bicarbonate. Period.
Im really annoyed with the vitamin industry i was taking boswellia for the pain and it was working now they have lowered the boswellia and added tumeric and not alot of people can tolerate tumeric and i struggle on line coz of my Asperger's
I'm a healthcare worker and I have celiac disease. I've been on an AIP diet for 2 years now. The masks that I'm being forced to wear (I prefer cotton) irritates my skin. I know my body is reacting to the material that the mask is made from. I think it might be made from some form of corn...sounds crazy but I always get a particular type of break-out when I accidentally ingest corn. And this type of break-out is what I'm getting whenever I wear this mask. Is there a specific type of mask that you recommend for people with autoimmune diseases that are safer for our skin. THe skin is the first line of defense. I hate knowing that my body is reacting to something that I have to wear every day for hours on end. I can't imagine what it's doing to my immune system which is already on overdrive. :/ Boss doesn't really care. Says 'it's just a rash." Hasn't got a clue! Very frustrated!
Yes! I had the same thing, cloudy stinky urine but was tested and no infection. Was diagnosed with Interstitial cystitis 10 years ago. Was vegan, eating huge green smoothies with cacao, turmeric and oat milk every morning, basically all the high oxalate foods, almond butter, tahini, beans, chickpeas, brown rice and veges all the time. All organic so though I was being “healthy” but just kept getting more strange symptoms including night sweats (also smelly) TMJ pain, vertigo, brain fog, skin itching all over, exhaustion, anxiety, panic attacks…. I also had Rheumatoid Arthritis for 10 years and only biologic medication gave me my mobility back. My doc suggested trying carnivore diet and all symptoms completely disappeared within a few weeks! Now off all meds, rheumatoid nodules gone, zero pain but am getting sores on my scalp and body with golden crystals like sand coming out…. Oxalate dumping is a thing! 😮
@@foxyauragems6146 Please don't take this stuff. It is very dangerous and it doesn't work at all. Ranks along with drinking drain cleaner to cure a virus.
One thing that is available from the United States Department of Agriculture is serving size. If you eat 1/2 cup of spinach once or twice a week you will get the benefit without the side effects. Fill up on your starches of choice and also watch serving size. Something benign like white rice can be eaten freely at every meal. Juicing can create overloads of many foods. I think of Almond milk and green smoothies
Solanines are glycoalkaloids found in nightshades. This is the poisonous component in green potatoes and in the leaves. Some are sensitive to them in the smaller proortions found in typically eaten parts of tomato, potato, pepper & eggplant.
My diet is all organic for years and I don’t eat any of the stuff on the lists not to eat for gastritis. But it’s been coming on for years now the gastritis is bad. Nothing seems to work. Inflammation in my stomach, bloating burning in the stomach and I can eat two small meals in the day but the third one later in the day all my bad signs come out. 6 years ago I had calcium oxalate stone. Down to 97 pounds. Taking digestive enzymes. Any suggestions?
Does RU-vid pay you by the our? 82 minutes? If I watched the entire 82 minutes I could reduce it to 5 minutes. Do that and I will watch. RU-vid is as great way for a person to educate themselves in many subjects in life - not just nutrition. But 82 minutes for each per day? Wake get your head out of your rear and make this possible for someone who wants to inform themselves in many areas of life.
@@DrOsborne do cliff notes the follow with another 90 minutes of detail. Is that not what I the first time? So what does " don't do cliff note mean? Does it mean that you believe that detail is needed. Ok. Do Cliff Notes, then 90 minutes of detail. Is that not what I said the first time? So what does don't do Cliff Notes mean? Shall I repeat this then, repeat it again.
The best gluten free and oxalate free diet is carnivore. Also with carnivore, you don't need any supplements. You didn't give any real reason not to do carnivore forever. I've been carnivore for ten years. Don't tell me it's not sustainable. Your reasoning was basically heal your digestive system so you can tolerate some poisons now and then. But why eat poisonous things at all ever?
My reasoning has to do with what I see clinically in those on long term carnivore. Your experience is yours alone. I am glad you have been able to sustain this diet and feel well. But the reality is, I have not seen this to be true for many on long term carnivore diets. I think that calling all plant based foods poisons is far over reaching. All the best
@@DrOsborne The dose definitely makes the poison and we have created many "tame" plants that will not do us much harm but it is a far cry from something not harming us to something being needed in any way in the human diet. Have you ever actually seen someone get unhealthy from eating an abundant carnivore diet? People not being able to stick to it and giving into their cake addictions is not who I mean. Actual health consequences of a zero carb diet are nothing but positive.
@@ruth.greening But was he carnivore or just eating the SAD? It's the combination of high ft and high sugar in the SAD which is dangerous. Eating at McDonalds will kill you but it's not the 4oz of beef. It's the bun, the super sized fries and soda etc.
@@robinbeers6689 He never went to MacDonald as it didn't exist in the outback. He probably ate some bread and cake, but he was a big meat eater, 3x a day.
I bought into the plant based diet crap our own government guidelines push. Mostly vegetarian for years, through my 50s and early 60s. If I got aches, I assumed it was aging, and a job that was wearing on my body. Back pain did lead me to discover a large 2+ cm kidney stone. But no one warned me about oxalates. I got off the green spinach smoothies with peanut butter, but didn't realize ALL the oxalates containing foods til recently. My coincidental saving grace was moving to Florida 9 years ago. Being surrounded by lemon and lime trees, I started drinking constant citrus water. The stone has since broken in 2 and regularly fragments, causing painful episodes as they pass. This is due to taking up a very active sport in my retirement. I hope that it dissolves completely and goes away. I may still eat my salads, but only lettuces and arugula with a few odd chopped veggies.
Dr. Osborne said Not to go oxalate free unless you have an issue but only for a short time to get issue under control. You may want to watch the entire video again.
I'd highly recommend you go to a low oxalate diet to ease your way into no oxalate. I've been Carnivore for almost 5yrs. Took me 3yrs to have oxalate dumping, because I went no oxalate, no dairy for 6mos...and it wasn't fun, although beautiful once on the other side. I'd highly recommend you buy Sally Norton's book, Toxic Superfoods, and checking out all her interviews here on YT to learn all you can.
What a God-send video!! You just saved my life. I wonder if anyone consumes spinach, vegetables, and fruits more than I do. Yet unfortunately, I've not been going to work for several months now due to some serious gut and stomach issues, including malabsorption and indigestion. Plus being 24hrs bloated and constipated with stomach distension. I've done several blood tests, as well as endoscopy and colonoscopy. L glutamine, collagen, bone broth, etc. yet none made any difference. You're too much Sir, I'm almost in tears. You're just talking to me like a Prophet, Sir. I'm now deficient and have been taking multivitamins 3:34. I just can't stop watching this video. Going for them 44:00 immediately! Thanks a lot.
Have Interstitial Cystitis and it’s fantastic to know oxalate toxicity caused it. My diet was super high oxalate and just learned after 30 yrs severe chronic pain arthritis fibro interstitial cystitis severe IBS & SIBO migraines etc. I have oxalate toxicity big time. Thank God I finally learned about them
This was a solid presentation and I’m happy you included the supplements in the video. But I wish that doctors would acknowledge that oxalates can be the DRIVER of gut disturbance. My mother juiced carrots and celery for us daily from the tender age of 3. Add some whole wheat and peanut butter in childhood and your accumulating oxalate at an immense rate. I never had an antibiotic until I was in my 40’s and I never took so much as an aspirin until I was in my 20’s. Oxalates also CAUSE gut dysbiosis. Everyone needs to take this seriously.
Someone asked on the video about a skin rash. I get a rash whenever I eat something with corn in it. Especially supplements that are made with corn derived magnesium stearate & microcystalline cellulose. Corn in hidden in our food.
Microcrystalline cellulose commonly gives bad reactions, indigestible, insoluble if sharp shards down to nano and get in cells and body can’t remove. My lungs react it’s horrible
Great video! I'm lucky no problem with oxalate foods, I have researched them, and for the most part my diet is relatively low in oxalate foods. Lemon water helps Also the liquid in fruits vs dry makes a big difference. I eat dates and figs never issue. Paleo lifestyle 3.6 years and it works. Another thing I eat food how it is naturally, no smoothie stuff, the mouth communicates with the gut, You are correct we should be a sealed unit mouth to anus. And people are not very aware that plants have been around for 350 million years, so they do have a lot built in defense mechanisms built in. Humans have only been around 200,000 years. I love your work, very informative. And the new screen is slick, take care my friend. 🙏✌🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Thought I was so healthy until I went carnivore and experienced an oxalate dump. Painful! Going low oxalate (not no oxalate) is helping clear up even minor itching and pain. This is the best, most comprehensive talk on oxalates I've found. And I've been searching. Everyone should at least explore the subject. Your deep dives into topics are always great. Thank you!
I have discovered that I is a pesticide allergy. This is the reason so many who cannot eat bread in the U.S. can do so in Europe. There may be pesticide free wheat grown in the U.S. but I have not found any. Once again it is the dusiicabe food industry in this country that is causing more than widspread obesity. Just remember please - you younger people, that in the 50’s when I was growing up there was no problem eating wheat. The big problem tha began back then was the widespread use of way too much sugar and now it is horrifying.
Can you comment from this video a d your histamine video. The bacteria you said is good to battle oxalates is also high in histamine And the older the advacado the less oxalates but higher in histamine? Thanks
Thankyou for all your work. I'm so glad I found your channel. I'm not finding information like this anywhere else. I experience the cystic bladder pain at times. I learned to avoid anything acidic like cranberry juice or fruit juices when Im having an episode bcs it makes it soo much more painful.
I have had fibromyalgia, low thyroid, chronic fatigue and ibs for 30 years. I am almost 60 now. I cut out dairy and gluten, I had already been a vegetarian since I was 19, but my weight kept going up and the pain kept getting worse. I ended up 17 stone and hardly able to move. No one would believe i was eating healthy, loads of nuts, beans, veg, at every meal. I then ended up getting terrible low back pain and spasms under my right ribs. I was a single parent and holding a job down it was horrific. I was then told that i had gallstones and had to get my gallbladder out. 6 months before I got the gallbladder out. I said that I wanted to try and save my gallbladder so i absolutely went on no process, low fat whole food diet and kept to this after gallbladder was removed. The pain was just getting worse and worse. I came across the stuff about oxalate. I thought back about how sick i had got when i went on green smooths, how i had been in agony after having rhubarb, same with beets and spinach. I have been cutting out high oxalates. I have started eating fish but I am struggling with meat. I am making flour out of organic porridge and making flatbread out of it. Also sometimes pancakes. I will see how I go, i hope and pray i have found a way out of this.
As a Gardener, I’ve learnt, to remove Oxalate, one needs to lightly steam those type of Vegetables and Herbs like Spinach and Kola. Thank you again for your fabulous Research! You are incredible, like some Research Encyclopaedia😮😃😃 from Oz p.s. just watched your eye-opener on Avopro, Explained so many symptoms I’ve been experiencing, the quest now, to find an alternative! Thank you, truly Appreciate your care.
Boiling reduces oxalate content by about 50%. Steaming reduces it be less than that, because there is less contact with the cooking water. Still plenty of oxalate left to cause you trouble if you lack the oxalate-metabolizing gut bacteria that chomp it up before you can absorb it. But if you tolerate them, then lucky for you!
I went the functional route. She was very knowledgeable, but it became have a symptom?? Here take these super expensive supplements. All of the tests weren’t covered by insurance and were super expensive! I went into debt and don’t feel much better. I prefer functional over conventional medicine, but it’s not affordable for most of us, and not all Functional Drs are all trustworthy! Really feel lost.
No, but apparently there are some bifidobacteria that *can* consume oxalate, even though they don't subsist on it exclusively. I don't know specific strains; presenter in the other video did not specify. But if you can find out which those are, they might be easier to obtain.
Such an incredible video! Thank you so much! So educational and exactly what I have been going through, gave me lots of answers. I love this video! You are awesome for sharing this info. thank you so much! You really know your stuff!
Hi Dr Osborne please do a video on millets l, so many people have millets especially people from India who are recommended to have this as an alternative to eating wheat for controlling blood sugar. It would be good to get your opinion on this grain.
Everything if eaten in small quantity and washed good and soaked overnight then stir fry or boil it won’t cause problem and squeeze lemon on everything. Drink more water . When calcium not absorb and put in wrong place also causes calcium stone
I have the issue right now, my bladder hurts so bad... my joints too... And urologist just give me painkiller 😢 I had 9 rounds of antibiotics. No wonder they don't work bcs the root problem is oxalate.
Time release Vita-C suffices for myself very well. Prefer Arugula and Slaw salads to avoid Oxalates. The largest organ skin talks the most...lol 62 yrs old// Nevada
Hello Doctors Peter Osborne .please if you don’t mind ,make the letters readable I can’t read it too small print.also please don’t remove too quickly. Thank you for sharing greatly appreciated vxXX
