On day 8 of the Oxbox Xmas Challenge 2016, Mike draws the F1 2016 realistic damage challenge, in which he must finish a race at Monaco in wet weather, with realistic damage turned on. Josh W It actually makes them less aerodynamic and slower in a straight line as a result but it makes the cars much faster around corners because it pushes the cars into the ground at high speed.

Not if you took the front wing off, cause that would be dangerous as hell if a driver pulled a Mike and chipped the front wing. But if you take all the downforce off it, yes it would roll. Not that you'd ever be able to make it to the corner..

+Frederic Beaudet - Probably not, because they are reasonably wide and their centre of gravity is very low, but they would just understeer all over the place.

I know these challenges are drawn at random, but oh man, first Jane gets the creepy murder challenge, and then Mike gets the car challenge. Here's betting Andy's next challenge is about historical accuracy.

I'm gonna be that guy: It's not really 800bhp. Maybe just the ICE, but with the MGUs combined its definitely more. In fact, the Mercs actually are rumored to have broken the magical 1000bhp mark.

When the new MGUs were introduced, it was said they generated 160bhp for 30 seconds during a lap. Even if that got increased to double, it's still 700bhp from the ICE alone. The turbo helps a lot with that.

The V6 of a modern F1 car will have somewhere between 650-ish (Honda) and 725-ish (Mercedes) horsepower, with the KERS and TERS together adding another 200 to 250, so yeah, it is more than 800.

I assume that's in race trim? In quali they seem to get always that tenth extra over everyone else, so I guess in quali trim they're producing over 1000bhp. (Or maybe that's just me really wanting them to break that barrier)

1:49 The first time I ever watched an F1 race (after years of watching CART) I was mortified to see them group up for the standing start. I asked myself "Did they deliberately engineer this in hopes of getting a big crash at that start?" And would you know it, that is precisely what happened. A bunch of cars tangled as soon as they rolled.

"Realistic Damage" When I saw that title, I thought the challenge would be Mike having to finish the race while Andy and Jane continuously punched him in real life.
