An okay run, which somehow managed one great kickdown. Unfortunately the 4/4B are overtimed and I've tried twice to get a good kickdown run unsuccessfully. But this gives us a taster of what it could be like, if you get the right driver!
Also features the point where we reverse and do a 3 point turn in Dry Sandford, an unusual feature not found on many bus services. Clearly challenging to film onboard a reversing bus as you can see!
This bus was working the City4 between Abingdon, Stratton Way (Stop A3) and Wood Farm, Masons Road East via Cumnor and Oxford City Centre

Thanks, so do I! Soon enough, you’ll get to experience the rattling between Wood Farm and *Abingdon but until then, feel free to rewatch this video when you have withdrawal symptoms again 😉

Chiltern Transport Productions certainly will, auto correct didn’t like Abingdon for some reason, Abington is a place in Scotland, when I last looked a the timetable the 4 didn’t got there! 😂

There’s at least one another Abington somewhere in England, I swear there is but the one I actually think of is Abington Park in Northampton though

Not bad for the 4, which is horrendously overtimed sadly! I’m amazed I actually got a kickdown on that run and that one kickdown was pretty good, I must admit!

Nice one, must get round to trying some of the Oxford Group Citaros at some point. Didn’t realise City 4 went quite far out the City either

Ah, well the 4 and 4B both do! But the 4A terminates at Elms Rise and 4C at Dean Court though, so perhaps this is where your confusion arises from?

Ah, well I know the fleet and routes quite well. The ones that go beyond Oxford are: City 4/4B: Wood Farm - Abingdon via Cumnor and Dry Sandford City 35: Oxford - Abingdon via Kennington and Radley City X3: Oxford - Abingdon DIRECT via the A34 (this does not operate when the X13 does as it combines with the 13 to form the X13) City X13: John Radcliffe Hospital - Abingdon DIRECT via the A34 City 250: Oxford - Bicester via Upper Heyford (due to be taken over by Rotala on 6th July, last day with Go Ahead is 4th July!) BROOKESbus U1: Harcourt Hill Campus - Wheatley Campus via the A40

It definitely did! Honestly speaking I didn't even notice the exterior, just looked at the virtually empty bus the whole time lol

Haha, well I don’t film for the views! I film for the vehicles themselves from a passenger POV, so you hear them at their loudest but also feel like you were there on the bus!

I recognise this bus! May or may not have claimed this one multiple times both at the front and the back! One thing I hate about these Citaros is that half the screws to panels are missing so it rattles like hell! Great video mate :)

Thanks! That’s a particular problem on Metrobus Crawley’s 6513, so bad that it actually distorts the audio on my video every time it rattles at a turning! You’ll see that sometime in July

You realise how different these Euro 3 1st gen Citaros are to the Euro 5 2nd gen facelift models, right? Bodywork, engine and seats all differ hugely, technologically different too I would imagine!

I've got these Citaros on my to do list including CB51BUS, do any of them do routes that are a good run on fast roads or are they always on stop/start city routes? Only route I've ever done that features a 3 point turn like that is the T3 in Wales (formerly the X94) from Wrexham to Barmouth, that actually has two of them

Ah, well you’ll definitely find a fair few doing decent routes that hit 50mph across the entire group, even Oxford Bus Company! And I believe 871 is currently working the 143 out of Reading Apart from 871 (MB51) though, are there any other particular Citaros you’re after for haulage?

I'm after 839 - 848 as well as 871, basically any of the pre 2007 ones lol

All of them are with Oxford Bus Company except 871, which is now with Thames Travel 839-841 are allocated to and branded for the City 6, 842-848 same as before except for City 4/4A/4B/4C instead . And 871 is supposedly on the 143, though it doesn’t track

I'm gonna say this one's a ZF. Right? Never knew they had a batch of dual-door Citaros. How many of them have this feature? The 3-point turn reminds me of my experience on the 11 down with Stagecoach East (Canterbury - Westwood X), where it does a three pointer around Wickhambreaux. Always fun to be in a reversing bus 😂

Cool. So you should know this is a ZF one then 😒 Also, it’s Stagecoach SouthEast for Kent and East Sussex. Stagecoach East run in Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire (they run further afield but don’t have depots there)!
