This is rap and garage. It's recorded in double time which means u can rap to it and switch it to garage all in the same tempo. It's all rap until Harvey comes on.
@@Michael-fc7no The tune is called Rap Dis. Its a hip hop tune but then switches into garage. So solid at this time was a garage group. Trus me this was my era. We was all gassed when this dropped. And amazed how they blended Garage and hip hop together in on track. The tune that would be the main influence of grime, is a garage tune called 'pulse x' by Musical mob.
This is Hip Hop beat, it ain't Grime and Neutrino or Oxide I can't remember which one could never spit on a Grime beat, he was more a Garage MC, he could never jump on a Grime beat, remember that casualty track where he says "swing badda badda badda swing like a birdie listen me sing" no not a chance.

The difference between this and the Grime scene that followed it is that these guys had great word play and rhyming skills, they also have produced structured music. Grime was just a very high tempo with often uninteresting ryhmes. I don't hate it but I think after So Solid Crew, Oxide Nutrino and the general garage scene UK hip-hop took a step back for a while.
1:58 I remember Neutrino’s original verse on this, before he had to censor most of it, even on the CD. He’d be dissing a load of people, mostly the Dreem Teem who refused to play their tunes cos “it wasn’t proper garage” or some shite like that. Also something about George Michael. When hosting their sets on So-Solid Sundays on Delight FM I’d hear the full version whenever he’d be on mic. I can’t find it on the web anywhere but I’m sure I’ve got a tape recording of it, I might try and upload to RU-vid.

WOLVES19861 100% oxide and neutrino don't get the credit they deserve for the part they played in grime. And would say this wasn't the first. Up middle finger could be classed as grime and that was before this.
Neutrino was my absolute secondary school crush, I remember covering my German book with wallpaper and printing Neutrino on my book 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Those were the days.
