I remember remarking about it feeling familiar and loving it when it first came out and my dad was like "it's Danny elfman, of course you'd like it" Didn't know whether to be humbled or impressed he knew my taste in score makers so well lol
Am I the only one who actually enjoyed this movie?1 I didn't see what the problem is with the film I loved it and also The Lone Ranger another Disney film that was out the same year nearly 6 years ago this film would've been released I honestly don't know where the time has gone but this film is amazing and Danny Elfman never fails to impress me such a magical music
Nope, this came out on my B-day! So it always have good memories of it. Besides I can't help but remember when my mom fell asleep (in the theaters) in the beginning sequence when Oz was still in Kansas.
No matter how crappy the actual movie is, Disney always has at least one good song in it. This (Oz the Great and Powerful) was an amazing movie, with an even more amazing soundtrack.
As far as I am concerned, I think the movie is rly good, yes! The story may be a little bit too classic and may lack of intensity but its atmosphere has somthing magical, the scenery and decor are fantastic and yeah, I get attached to most of the charcters, they are well written, their develpments is ok too. And there is something I apprecitate particularly : the tribute. The first chapter of the movie is a tribute to the first one and I think it was very clever to begin the movie that way. Moreover, I see it as a tribute to movies and cinema in general. What makes Oz special? Is he a wizard? How did he beat the wicked witches? Well, it was all about illusion! The illusion of magic, he used fireworks, mechanics, to produce an illusion. In fact, he used science to make people believe in magic, and this is exatly what Cinema is about : for 1 or two hours, with the power of technology, let people enter in your story, make people believe in your story. That way, he became a wizard, with sciences. I don't know if this was intentional, but for me, they did a great job, more than Burton's Alice.
Can I do the amazon thing real quick? *Achem* “If you liked this, you’ll really enjoy the music for The Corpse Bride!” (It has the same melody/chord structure and is quite easy on the ears...also there’s no O Canada! 🇨🇦)
I'm going through the soundtrack and there's this one part in most of the scores where it makes me want to sing "OHHHHH CAAAANADAAAAA" and i'm not even Canadian, help
Does anybody know any similar music to this that has a really strong circus vibe? Creepy though. Kinda like at 0:45, 1:21, 1:40, and 2:25. A not-perfect example of the style could be Carousel by Melanie Martinez. I just love the instruments’ sounds in both so if anybody knows more then please help me out
shadufr you should listen to the Sims 1 Makin Magic soundtrack, i think 20 songs wich are that exact creepy, spooky, circus, gypsy ish vibe. Especially Magic Town 8 :)
+Spidey Loaf I'm sorry I sounded like that! I didn't realize it sounded like I had something against Canada or their national anthem. It just irked me that there would be the sound of Canada's national anthem in a movie soundtrack. It seemed inappropriate.
