Initial walk through of our new Ozark Trail Flat Creek 12 person tent which we intend to use as a portable vacation home. Links to videos of the set-up process, and the finished furnished tent are attached at the end of this video.
That is a really cool tent. Funny story. My wife wanted one so I looked in to it. We had a Coleman Skylodge, but after being rained in for 3 days with 2 pitbulls, she wanted more room. So I watched some videos on the set up. Seems how I would be the only one setting it up, I bought her a pop-up camper instead. I should have bought her the tent. 6 years latter, she wanted, yep, more room. So now she has a travel trailer. On the plus side, my old truck wouldn't pull it, so I got to get a new truck. Anyways, looking forward to seeing it all set up with our stuff in it and how well the air conditioners work in it. Have fun and great travels!!
Oh my goodness, getting rained in like that sounds like a nightmare! Getting a travel trailer is definitely the dream one day though! You liking yours so far? Only thing is, I’ll need a small camper, something I can pull with a SUV. I have no business in a big truck, I do good just to keep a sedan on the road.😂
@@outdoormary It was real rough that last day! We/she loves the camper. it's a 30 foot, but we plan on living in it for a little while when I retire. There are some really nice small campers out there. I would say for safety, get one with 2 axles. I knew she would want a bigger one so I did a LOT of research just on dealers (2 years) And a year on campers. Best dealer I found is in Coldwater Michigan. A lot of people are building their own out of cargo trailers.
Thanks for the walkthrough! Would love to see it once you get it furnished… to see how everything fits. Would also like to hear what you think of it once you’ve used it a bit.
@@mehchocolate1257 , oh yeah! Hopefully we’ll be able to sleep well! We’re putting down carpet and everything, I’m really going to try to make this thing feel like a hotel room.😆
While I was commenting, you were talking about going camping next month or in a couple of months, so I'm guess no-one will be camping out in the back??? We use to camp out back and our parents use to keep the door unlocked so we could come in if we wanted. We had the greatest parents. I really miss them. Well have fun. I'll be checking in on you all. See ya!
Sounds like you’ve got some great memories from camping out back with your family!❤️ this tent is actually too big to fit in our backyard 😆. But I would like to get a smaller one so we can do that! The kids are grown now, ( 20 & 24 ). But I still think it’s be a cool bonding experience for us.
Thanks for the information! We haven’t been to Michigan yet but we certainly want to. I heard Traverse city and Sleeping Bears dunes are amazing places in Michigan!
We waited for years for this tent. Sealed and sprayed it. We weren’t very successful keeping the Air conditioning…due to 90’ degree weather. We have used ours for 3 years. We have had to fix several things at this point. I love this tent…but way too much for us. I love the bathroom there as well. I would rather have a non mesh ceiling.
@@tentcampingadventureswithh3298 , I can’t wait to see how it’s going to perform in Utah next month. I’m a little worried about it not staying cool enough too. I’m going to Velcro some tarp material to the underside of the rain fly. I hope it helps! Wish me luck!
I think I'll get one of these for my AT thru hike. Seems kinda heavy, but I bet it'd strap to the top of my generator just fine and that's on wheels so the weight won't be an issue.
This thing is incredibly heavy, about a 100 lbs .We store and transport it in a gorilla cart, even then , it’s pretty hard to pull honestly. Let me know how it goes!!
That's too bad he struggled, My son and I can put this together in less than 20 minutes. It takes 30 minutes when I do it alone. The hardest part was transporting it because its so heavy. I resolved that by storing it in a large rolling suitcase.
I think it would be tough to keep warm air from escaping, the tent material seems strong, but definitely a bit thin. At minimum, you would need to cover the entire mesh roof with tarp to help insulate. The floor vents do close all the way down, but they don’t seal. My plan is to eventually line the floor vents with Velcro so that they will seal. We actually plan on buying an affordable canvas tent for winter camping.
Love the tent...plenty of room!,so are you going to furnish it? Lol Are you behind your house? If it is, then you and your family can camp right in the backyard but watch out for possums and racoons. From Donna in Connecticut
Hi Donna!! Yes, we are definitely going to furnish it, I think I may have bought too many furnishings actually 😆. I gotta remind myself it’s still just a tent. We plan to use this as our portable vacation home. We were spending way too much money on vacation rentals, the savings with this tent will allow us to go on more vacations now. We’re going to Utah next week!
The entry room is 6' 8" wide by 6' 10" deep. The rooms on either side & the center space right in front of the bathroom are 6'8" squares. The bathroom is about 6 feet wide × 3 feet deep
I know right! I’m really hoping they’ll bring them back. Don’t forget to check eBay and your local FB marketplace, I’ve seen some listed here and there.
Hi there! I paid about 300 for it last year at Walmart.com. I definitely think it’s worth it because it’s very spacious, like a little cottage. Most importantly, it held up to some really high winds in the desert very well. I expect this to last a long time based off my experience so far. The only con is the size and weight makes it a little difficult to transport if only one person, but overall it’s a small inconvenience in order to have so much living space.
@@outdoormary Thank u for responding I appreciate it very much, I have been looking online all day and now will be easier with the info. Thank you again stay safe and have a great day.
@@RF1972. , we’ll. We try to avoid camping and hiking in areas where we are more likely to encounter bears or mountain lions, more heavily trafficked areas. I truly hope I never see a bear.😩
@@outdoormary yeah, and so humid you could almost swim through the air. Death Valley still has you beat though as heat goes, but with the heat index, IDK. That being said, I’ve been through Georgia many times, it’s damn hot. I think the sweet tea just might be better in Ga though. That extra sugar does a lot.
I know😩, I keep checking to see when they’ll be back in stock with no luck. I’ve seen them for sale from time to time on FB Market place . Maybe try looking there. I’ll definitely let you know if I ever sell. Best of luck!!
Oh THANK YOU!!! We ended up with a tent and it's nice and all, but my brother (49) and in a wheelchair will not fit in it. The flat creek he would have his oun room. Please don't forget about me if you decide to sale it. Enjoy it until then❤
@@ritastevens8975 , yes it comes with a movie screen, a room divider for the living area and bathroom, and hanging storage for both closets & bathroom. It also has 2 rods for the closets so that you can hang clothes.
@@ritastevens8975, it’s definitely an awesome tent, we just got back from camping & it felt just like being in a hotel. Here’s the tent furnished. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DdmJYw8e00s.htmlsi=H2XTDekN71_jl92P
