As a fitness and nutrition coach, I need to put in my 2 cents here: another reason people gain the weight back after stopping Ozempic is because they used it as a quick fix to lose weight, but never developed the proper habits to maintain that weight loss. It's the same as any quick fix, diet, or meal plan. Without the right habits, all that weight you lost will come back, and you'll be right back where you started.

Yeah decreasing calories is the start but then introducing a healthy diet is next.

Thank you for explaining this so much more concisely than I could. 🙏 It's just like how patients that undergo gastric sleeve surgery have to maintain their new eating habits, otherwise their stomachs will expand to the size they were before surgery. It all comes down to lifestyle, fitness is something that is earned through dedication to healthier habits, this is the hill I will die on!

The biggest thing to know about Ozempic is it can cause cancer of the thyroid and a few other serious conditions. I do have to say that I think people, taking it just for weight loss don't realize that things like trauma can actually cause weight gain, among other things. As women, it can also affect our breasts as they are mostly fast.

My mom has an Ozempic prescription for her Diabetes and I have one at the reccomendation at my Fibromyalgia Management Squad AS A SUPPLEMENT to my diet & excercise because I'm over 150 pounds heavier than I should be but we can't get it in any form because of all the celebrities/Influencers using it as a quick way to lose weight. I'm angrier about my Mom than me. I've got a slow but steady thing going on with my weight loss so if I never get it, fine but my Mom deadass needs it to keep her Diabetes in check but the rich are hogging it and they're making the price of it go up, too! 😡🤬

I’m so sorry. First off, I too have FM. It seriously sucks. I’m MAYBE 15lbs heavier this year (due to several orthopedic surgeries). I feel good, just can’t run and box daily (yet). My NP offered it to me. I refused for several reasons: 1. I’ll lose the weight on my own. 2. Long-term SE are unknown and the early ones are terrifying, but my 3rd reason is because of people like your mom. (I’m a retired PA) Patients who don’t have access to meds is incredibly frustrating, for both patient and provider. It’s not fair. I want people to keep telling their stories so maybe others will think about it before taking it for their vanity 15lb weight loss. Best of luck to you and your mom!!

I’m type 2 diabetic. My dr prescribed me Ozempic, but after looking at the side effects, I didn’t fill it. I requested a different medication. My dr then prescribed Glimepiride which is a much older medication and has way less side effects. It’s been controlling my diabetes wonderfully with no side effects other than a little bit of nausea the first 3 days I was on it. No stomach paralysis, no vomiting every day multiple times/day, no thyroid cancer complications. U might see if ur mom has tried that medication if it’s strictly about controlling her diabetes.

No, we just have to worry about stomach paralysis, thyroid cancer, etc. There’s already a class action lawsuit against the makers of Ozempic. I refused to take it when my dr wanted to prescribe it bc of all the bad side effects, the lawsuit, and ppl all over social media saying it’s awful. I asked my dr for a different medication, and she prescribed me Glimepiride. It’s a much older drug so it has a lot more safety data available, and way less side effects. I’ve been taking it for several months now, sugars r controlled, and no side effects other than some nausea the first 3 days I was on it. Semiglutide is naturally produced in the brain *BUT* processed foods bypass the body's natural process of breaking down *whole* *foods* which prevents the brain from from recognizing when you are full and producing the hormones that tell you to stop eating. The only way around this is to switch to a whole foods diet which means eating foods made from scratch but it requires time for the body and brain to readjust to this natural cycle. This is also why people gain 40-50% of the weight back if they did not change their diet to whole foods. It goes deeper. Why are the majority of foods sold in america processed despite selling the same products but with healthy ingredients in other countries? To keep us sick. We pay more for health-care than any other country but are one of if not THE unhealthiest and fattest country in the world. We boast having the most advanced medical technologies in the world yet the majority of americans are unable to access those services. And then a proverbial magic pill comes along BUT it costs $1000 and stops working as soon as you stop taking it and it will stop working cuz the foods are still over-processed. These foods cause damage to the brain and DNA which leads to depression, addiction, fatigue, heart damage, etc. Think about the multi-billion dollar mental health industry in america. The billions spent on energy products. The billions spent on private addiction clinics and imprisoning americans for addiction and drug possession (and the billions earned by private businesses using prison labor). The reason semiglutide is such a wonder drug is cuz it chemically corrects what the USDA, FDA, and EPA have caused through deregulation and the corporate capture of our government. BTW lunchables with deli meat and white crackers are being served as a lunch meal in public schools. Our government did that. Future semiglutide customers.

So I had thyroid cancer in 2017, had a total thyroidectomy followed by radiation. Shortly after I developed a condition known as gastroparesis which is a rare condition that causes delays in stomach emptying. In essence, its the equivalent of this medication but permanent. It is also a potential side effect of this drug. To anyone considering this medication, please do your due diligence because the way my life is now is drastically different and not in a good way. Did I lose weight as a result of this condition, yes. I'm also now a mere 97 lbs at 5'6". Btwn the weight loss, poor nutrition and lack of thyroid, my skin and hair are a mess, I struggle with brain fog, and I have no energy. This is no quality of life someone of a young age wants.

Yes unfortunately a lot of Americans are brainwashed by the FDA to think that anything allowed to be sold at a store is safe to consume just because it’s “FDA approved”. But once you start going down the rabbit hole your eyes are opened to the truth of the matter. I lost 20 pounds just by being careful about not consuming processed ingredients often. And avoiding gluten and sugar.

I was prescribed Resperidol/Resperidone, for help with my depression and anxiety, within 3 weeks, it had caused me to develop acute pancreatitis. I could barely eat for weeks without continuously getting sick. I was taken off the Resperidone, and it took 1-2 weeks of "proper soup" (my grandma's, it had every necessary nutrient and vitamin/veggie or herb). I had my first daughter at the time, and somehow, I survived. Ozempic is for diabetes, nothing else!

There's a movie called "That sugar film" that explains why ppl nowadays have so many problems losing weight, and it's not only because of lack of will power, but because there are too many hidden sugars in so-called "healthy foods." I remember when I was growing up in the 80s and 90s that obesity was not common, and according to that film, it's because of the excessive amount of sugar present in today's diet.

My sister in law started taking Ozempic recently. Not for weight loss, but because she actually has diabetes. While she has lost some weight on the medication and looks AMAZING, the most important thing is that it has also been doing wonders for her blood sugar levels/A1C with little to no harmful side effects. It's a shame that some people with diabetes are having trouble obtaining this life-saving medicine because so many people/celebrities are hogging it for the wrong reasons.

I took Mounjaro for its intended use as a type 2 diabetic. I had been on an older GLP-1 many years ago for the same reason, Trulicity. On that, I was violently sick for at least 2 months, stomach pain was rough - lost no weight on it but my diabetes was getting in check. Years later on Mounjaro for the same reasons, very mild side effects. No stomach pain, no nausea, heavy appetite suppression (lost 70 lbs in a year) and my A1C is finally normal again. However, I got more fertile and now am off of it because I got GLP-1 preggy. Everyone's healthy so far and I've only gained about 10lbs which at this point I''ll take it. We'll see where I am at the end with my baby and my diabetes, I just want my A1C and blood sugars normal - weight loss was just a bonus for me.

There's cold shakes, you have to stay mannequin style still if you move you will breathe and when I took a breath I spit up. I curled up in front of my furnace with a blanket and a bucket and i promised God if he made it stop I'd never touch it again. For one weeks worth it takes 4 weeks for it to get out of your system so for 4 weeks I wouldn't eat. I drank broth oh and i didnt poop for 16 days. It was just dirty feeling like it made me feel stupid because why? You can't eat no apple or run jump skip and play 😅bad juju that shit is. The problems with Ozempic: 1) You cant be using ozempic forever. Once you leave the drug, it is up to you if you keep eating the same way you did on Ozempic to stay that size, because 2) Ozempic's weight loss side effect is not fat melting magic, is loss of apetite. When you leave Ozempic if you havent changed your habits, the weight will come back. And the loss of apetite is also dangerous because, when losing weight the only interesting thing to lose is fat. But with a apetite loss and eating so little you also lose muscle, this is why people are looking so hauntingly skinny. The loss of apetite makes someone lose weight SO FAST, therefore the Ozempic face happens. Losing muscle is very bad for your health, on the contrary you want to build more muscle to stay healthy, fasten your metabolism and such. I understand this us used to help very morbidly obese people, but for people who are obese or overweight i would not recomend using this for the reasons i listed. Just go to the gym and eat on a healthy calorie deficit and lose weight at a healthy pace. This garantees a long term weightloss.

could you do a video on buccal fat removal? i've always had a naturally fuller face, and it's one of my biggest insecurities. i will admit, my cheeks do give me a more youthful appearance, but i rarely saw it as something to be proud of. for as long as i can remember, i would always get super jealous of girls (whether they were around my age or older) who didn't have a naturally fuller face or fuller cheeks. not to say that they weren't immensely pretty, because they were, i just usually felt the need to compare my face to theirs and further demonize my own features. it's an insecurity i had since childhood, and i'm always thinking about whether my face would look better without the extra fat in it or not. buccal fat removal has recently piqued my interest, and honestly, i did think about doing the procedure more often than i liked to admit. it would be nice to hear another take on this procedure, because i feel SERIOUSLY tempted to go out and get this done at some point down the line. at the same time, i don't want to get plastic surgery and i want to keep my natural face (not mention the surgeries i've had in the past, due to a number of medical conditions i have). i really don't know what to think, lael. :(

But it's such an insecurity of mine, i HATE having my photos taken where i just feel like my face looks massive & super ugly :( i've considered buccal fat removal also BUT i've seen so many videos, read peoples experiences about having it done etc, & it seems like people moan about having to have fillers or other stuff down the road to compensate for the aging that buccal fat removal causes as the skin will atrophy easier without the buccal cheek pads. So, I'm kind of in the same place as you, I'm 32 now and I still feel so insecure/ugly about my face but honestly, I think I'd be too scared to do anything to my face regardless!

Well it's irreversible so if you do that there's no going back. Why don't you put that money towards therapy instead and try to get to the root of your insecurities, figure out where it started and why. Kylie Jenner has millions, it still didn't stop the affects of filler over use from showing up in her face. She has really bad nasolabial folds and you could see the outline or the filler in her tear troughs. Seeing as though you don't have millions, how much worse do you think it'll be for you if you get the procedure and cannot get it fixed? 🤔 You will likely not even be able to afford to fill what you lost with injections. Those cost up to 1,000 dollars and beyond by the way. I too have a round face. I even got the nickname Moony as a child because of it. I've come to the point where I'm okay with my face. Seeing Erin from the boy's completely ruin her face shocked me. My face looks similar to how her's use to. I'm really grateful I'm not rich otherwise i would have made some really bad decisions.

I've been taking Mounjaro. Before it, I took Ozempic. I had horrible side effects on Ozempic, pretty everything you mentioned except vomiting. Migraines, constipation, dehydration, and more, but with little weight loss. On Mounjaro I have 1 side effect, that I wouldn't call a side effect. I have IBS-C, and it reversed it. I've lost 80lbs in 7 months. Now I'm fighting my insurance to keep paying for it. I also have an insulin resistance and PCOS. Which is why I have such severe weight issues. I tried everything to lose weight, even a dietician and weight trainer. I never lost more than water weight, then nothing else. I've been off Mounjaro for 4 months and have maintained my weight loss. I still need to lose 50lbs. It won't be my "ideal" weight but will be a healthy weight. I did my homework before starting the injections. I went on a high protein, carnivore-similar diet and started strength training. I forced myself to eat even when I wasn't hungry by eating very small meals on a schedule. As someone who was morbidly obese, but could not lose weight. Even when I had someone who came into my home and threw away anything I should not eat, helped me buy the right food, cook it correctly, and another person who developed a workout for me. But I could not lose anything. They were stumped, I was stumped, the doctor was stumped. Until I was diagnosed with cervical cancer and they found I could not have a hysterectomy because my colon and uterus are fused from scar tissue. So, it became an exploratory surgery instead. I was found to have endometriosis and PCOS. But my A1c has always been normal. I also never had the pain associated with endometriosis. I'm a freak of nature I guess. Anyway, that is what led to my doctor putting me on Ozempic. But as I said my side effects were brutal. I spent more time in bed with migraines than I did living. And I wasn't losing on it. So, even though it's not got the off label use of insulin resistance my doctor put me on Mounjaro and weight started shedding off. I was so excited. And I'm hoping my doctor can eventually get my insurance to ok it. Apparently, my issue isn't unheard of, but most people aren't diagnosed until their insulin resistance turns into type 2 diabetes. I guess my insurance would prefer I get worse first. Oh and I have tried Metformin, which is usually given for insulin resistance. But I had bad side effects from it too. Including craving sweets (I don't crave sweets. My issue is carbs) I also gained weight on it. I do think these types of medications should only be used in certain situations. And not for people who just need to lose a little weight. Its definitely being over prescribed.

5:22 I agreed with what she said up until that 'everyone needs to be on prescription drugs to avoid obesity' part that's INSANE what you should be doing is changing our views on food, educating people, teaching people how to eat healthy, properly diet, exercise, etc because sure drugging them up might help in the short term but not in the long term you're just essentially putting a bandage over a broken bone- sure it might stop the bleeding but the underlying issue is still going to be there. If anything I feel like this is just gonna make things worse and make people even lazier "instead of working hard let me just jam a needle in my ass and we're good!" 😂 It's kinda sad tho because I know there's people who have diabetes who are now having trouble finding their meds if at all because people are abusing and using it all up 😕

right? that is crazy to me, first they manufacture an obesity epidemic from allowing companies making unhealthy foods run rampant and they use science to make food that is as addictive to us as possible, and then they manufacture a pharmaceutical cure using science to counteract a problem that was created and egged on by huge corporations... both of these benefit the government and we are the ones fighting demons and suffering

If you have liver issues or liver trouble, you can't take it. I checked with not only my family doctor but the doctor group who did my liver transplant about taking this, and the doctors said no. Before you seek a doctor to prescribe this to make sure that the doctor has your full health history and whatever medications you are on currently.
