Cheers mate. Yes they are very pleased with them. Hopefully one day I'll have a nice big pond to have a drink by in the summer with some hoke grown monsters. Hows your new one getting on? ☀️ 👌
Yeah good thanks mate. She's a very aggressive feeder, I've caught her sucking on other fish. She's going to be a big fish. Something to look forward for you mate, with the big pond. It will come.
Your. The man mate you seem to know your stuff I loved it in the last video when it didn t work and you replaced it it shows people you just take it back you don't through it at the wall out of frustration love it and your fish are mint.
Useful info, definitely something to consider. I'm in the process of setting up a 10ft indoor pool so its something i may add in the future, simple to add which is a bonus. Cheers
Cheers, glad it was. 😊👍outside vs inside I think will make little difference -I think it's all about volume of water and dosage level. I hope to pull something together on larger ponds in the future which you may find useful
Hi mate, interesting video on something i have been considering for some time. Do you have to use something the size of the bottom drain diffuser or could i use a meter long air curtain type diffuser and is there a minimum depth the diffuser has to be set at. Many thanks.
No not at all you can use what you like on it really air stones etc. Just need to be aware that ozone can destroy some materials depending on what it is, so check the manufacturer details. Cheers 😊
@@OrchardKoi It's looking much better thanks pal. I'm waiting on my ozone generator to arrive. Just checked TDS and its only at 695 but the water clarity isn't great. UV on and working. Planning to use it for about 4 hours per day to start. Just ordered the ORP meter 👍🏻
@@OrchardKoi 🤣 It's not something I've measured before. What should it be? I was just going to run the O³ into the pond via a normal airstone. 2 hrs in the morning 2 hrs in the evening. Cheers Dave. 👍🏻
@1973cashy they say 400ppm is about Right for freshwater fish. All depends on what you want it do and how much water you've got. That sounds a good start
Thank you for these videos. Do you need to use ozone resistant air tubing or can you cut your existing airline and slot an ozone generator in? I'm using 8mm sinking airline.
Thanks for commenting glad you have found it useful. So if you purchase a diffuser from eco they supply type A pvc. See bwlow for their comments. They have not seen any instances of breakdown of the type a tubing. However some do suggest using specific type. "The airline we use and supply is PVC,PVC is rated "A" against Ozone. you can go down the rough of using PTFE/pvdf airline and fittings. however, this is very costly. I have always found PVC to be fine and haven't had to change any yet." Remember the only side exposed to the ozone is after the unit, not before.
Very useful video for someone thinking about one of these . If ive got it right , this wouldn’t inhibit plant growth in the pond ? . Very nice giveaway too ,
Cheers Simon. All depends what you are going for, now with some of the dissolved organics the plant would use for some food. There is also the range within ORP which effects phosphorus and in turn phosphates but I haven't covered this at this point as I didn't want to over complicate and I don't keep plants at this stage. Again dosage will be key seeing where you are at without one and adding from there.
Yet again a great piece of information and was surprised you left it so late in the video to say about its use against parasite's and the like. As from when I had a unit,I remember not having issues with fluke like I have had over the last two seasons. So I think that is a huge plus for any koi keeper. I'm sure without research, most would doubt it. The only thing that has made me take pause is having to replace it every six months. As previous unit was yearly. But everything has an up and a down side. I do think it is finding a balance between enough bacteria and not enough for a true bio balance. Which is more beneficial in my view. The one thing I think makes a difference or has for myself and this is before I look at installing a unit, is I added a shower filter and has made a huge difference to the water, fish and maintenance overall. Again, each to their own and what works for one, doesn't necessarily work for another. Have been researching the best use for my set up and would steer more towards a reactor chamber then going straight in. I'll end by saying what you are putting up is a valuable insight and agree that too many dismiss it without looking into it. Would probably look at getting one of the adjustable units that are a bit more money, but far easier to control and adjust. IMO
Cheers much appreciated. Yeah I didn't go on too much on the parasite side as this is something that I covered in the first part and there isn't a lot I can do in terms of testing that, I wanted to aim at things I can prove and document so far it has done everything my research has suggested and is claimed so why wouldn't it do the rest. The science is there. we will so how it goes. At its price point I think it's a fantastic bit of kit, and I wonder if it had EA on the side if it would be triple the price. We shall see how it lasts long term. Don't forget every six months is at full usage. I'll be landing over double that hopefully. Yes there are some other bits of kit and money no object I'd love to give them a go but they are considerably more expensive , maybe one day In the future. And yes i totally agree that getting the right balance is key on the bio life as near to nature as possible.
@@OrchardKoi your doing a stellar job of giving the right information for people to make up their own minds and I know there are Ozone units that aren't made exclusively for the fish trade, but like the one I had,can be used for it and work the same as dedicated units designed for the trade. Love your optimism on EA, think a bank loan would be in order😭 definitely over priced for what they are and how they are made. Have the nexus 300 upgraded and came in less than half of what a new 320 would cost. Companies like this are why the trade doesn't grow like it should.puts it out of most people's reach and took me a long time to get one over the price. Only reason I'm holding off on the unit,is I haven't anything I need to fix as such and I have the koi I want without being over stocked. 15- 3000gl, so the only reason I will look for one is to help with growth next year with how it keeps the water. So that is something you should consider when talking about the Ozone, does make a difference with growth IMO 👍
@user-oi2qi5vo1r yes I'm hoping it does it hasn't been long enough but, cleaner water , less organic waste in the column , should all equate to quicker growing fish. I am just limited in size I think. Would love to get a bigger tub just can't afford to do everything i want as ever. I shall get there !! Spot on on EA, and Oase not accessible to all which hampers the hobbyist growth.
@@OrchardKoi you got me thinking about how or if the ozone might help with regards to koi pox? Definitely something I will look into trying out at a later date. As it's one of the most stubborn of all koi affliction's out there and can be extremely hard to control in an unheated pond. Same as yourself, don't have endless funds to keep throwing at the pond and have to but wisely. But definitely something I want to try. As even heat has only a marked effect on pox as there is several variations out there that don't respond so well to hear. So you can pay yourself on the back for getting at least one to think outside the koi box👍
@user-oi2qi5vo1r interesting. I'm not sure it will assist with already infected fish but could help destroy the virus moving in the water. But better water quality and removing other organisms may help symptoms? Let us know if you do go that route . Be interested to know
Just ordered mine.. Can the air pump run continuously through the ozone unit when it's regenerating or has the air pump has to run on a timer with the ozone unit? Thanks paul
So the air pump will just run as normal, all that goes on the timer is the ozone unit, when it's off the air just runs through no different to normal. Nice and simple 👌
Great question. One i don't know the complete answer to. I'm going to say probably an idea to switch off if you want to treat for the period. Just because depending on what is in the treatment it may be able to oxidise with something so if not removing it , altering it making it non effective/ or dangerous Hope that helps. I'll think about how to get a complete answer on this
Would one of these units work on a 16,000l pond ? If so, how many hours would it need to be on ? Also, I run a Sander protein skimmer that returns to the bio chamber. Can they be installed on the air line for the protein skimmer or is it best to run it on the air lines on the BD's ?
So first part on size of pond, I'd in all honesty I don't know. The manufacturer state that it isn't size limited, but I wonder how efficient it would be. I'd suggest you'd have to keep it on at its max and see what you get. I will try do some larger capacity testing. Alot of variables, food, stocking etc which make it hard to see. It would take longer to treat the entire pond. Yes I believe they can be installed on the skimmer line, I've seen this done before. However, again, I wonder if this effects the ability of the skimmer to work, as they are both effectively targeting the same things to remove in different ways. - this is just my opinion from what I have seen.
thanks for the info I am looking to put one on my two fry ponds from what you said it's been tested on fry in a tank so it should be okay outside on two fry ponds.
This is What I'm told by eco filtration, they have tested on fry in a small environment at length. I'd be interested to know how you get on. Just remember dosage , I'd suggest taking it slow at first and seeing what you get making sure you are comfortable as you go along
I no im 10 months late on this video I told the ozone can cause problems with silicone air hose and rubber ? So does this mean the hose to the air diffuser and maybe the air diffuser rubber could be compromised??
@@garrydavis3517 Different grades of airline and rubbers can deteriorate yes, so just need to make sure you've got ozone compatible ones which ECO filtration do. I've had zeros issues with any of mine😊👍
@@OrchardKoi thank you for your reply that's cleared that one up how you finding it on the parasite situation does it eliminate all the nasties what about flukes??
@@garrydavis3517 this won't elimate the problems, see it more as keeping a nice Ballance and keeping them in check. I've also found it very good for QT and hospital tanks. I've had one costia outbreak with my new system , which was done an sorted in one treatment with no further outbreaks. But I have a slug problem which introduces a load of crap. I am currently reviewing another ozone unit👍
@@OrchardKoi thanks buddy I really appreciate your time in replying yes I found that with slugs which can cause outbreaks in ponds seriously thinking about getting hold of one of the units
Now this all depends on what dose you are adding. 3 hours on 1 off is max. I'm running between 4 &6 hours in a 24 hour period . For my needs and water capacity this enough for what i want
I think it was a misunderstanding, He probably misunderstood and thought you were talking about the mechanical part of the filter.which you can do if you want to. Have a chat with them i'm sure they will be happy to go over it with you. If you've got an airline running anywhere else that will be fine to use
No the message what he sent say I would put it in ur moving bed this will ensure full saturation of the water I messaged him see what he say I bin on holiday so not even used the unit yet lucky could of bin a disaster if I had put on before lol
@symongreenhalgh2160 that's great news then. No idea what's happened there but at least you haven't put it in there. Just wanted it to be clear so there were no issues caused.
I mean there are defo those type of products out there, but I wouldn't agree this is one of them it has it's place. Again all depends on what you trying to achieve
