The RS-1 from Oztent has got to be one of the most unusual swags available on the market. One part 30 second frame, and one part king single sized swag - the RS-1 is the easy and luxurious way to sleep at the campsite.
The RS-1 is made from Oztent’s ModCan material, which is a durable yet lightweight synthetic fabric that’s also fire retardant, UV resistant and completely waterproof for your peace of mind. This swag also comes with an awning that doubles as a fly, a 25mm mattress, and no-see-um mesh fly screens to keep insects out - so you’ll sleep comfortably out under the stars.
There has been so much excitement around this swag in the camping community lately. So in this video, we’ve got one of our gear experts, Ben, to demonstrate how to set it up when you’re out on a trip, and how to pack it all away when it’s time to hit the road.
Take a look at the RS-1 from Oztent online at Snowys here:

Couple years on, but geez this is a neat system - essentially a swag lean-to shelter with that reflective awning! Good for having a little fire a little ways in front of the tent to reflect some heat in if it's a colder night.

That's a good idea, William, I never thought of using the silver lining to reflect heat back down into my shelter. ~ Ben

Absolutely sold! I'm so sick of trying to roll up heavy canvas swags with your knees on the ground! This is genius! Especially the fly/awning! So versatile. I'll be buying the stretcher as well. Great product can't wait to get it!

I'm glad you like it, Jimbo, the RS1 swag/tent (or maybe swent) has received mixed reviews. You've got a good point though, it's certainly easier to pack away than a regular swag. ~ Ben

thank you for the video. I have one of these, but like all new toys- never remember how to get it back in the bag. Bought it on recommendation from a mate with a dune swag platform. Considering the amount of rain and humidity in NSW this year, my mate said never had any issues and was dry and comfy. Good enough for me then

Be nice to have a sturdy foldable bunk you could secure that to in order to get it up off the ground and makes it easier to gets in and out for an old bugger. 😊

You could put this on top of a stretcher Indigo Dragon71, the Outdoor Connection Sundowner stretcher is the biggest stretcher we have - www.snowys.com.au/sundowner-titan-camp-stretcher. It may be a little clunky and you'd want to make sure you are not bending the RS1 frame, but it may work. Ideally, though, the RS1 is best used on the ground. ~ Ben

Hey Ben, this looks like a nice camp site, and I'm struggling to recognise it. Is it in SA? If so whereabouts?
@SnowysOutdoors
@SnowysOutdoors 3 года назад
It is in SA, at Brownhill Creek which is tucked away in Adelaide's south east, but it's not a campsite, rather a day area. ~ Ben

Im looking for something as an over nighter for my 3yo daughter and i would this be ok for the both of us

Hi Sharon. As a comparison, a 2 person hiking tent is usually around 140 cm in width and a 1 person is generally around 90cm but this also caters for a bit of gear. The RS1 is 105 cm wide, the sloped back wall impedes a little on internal space but you could squeeze an adult and a little one in provided you're happy huddling together overnight. ~ Ben

I have one of these swag/tents and the mattress does seem a little thin I have looked for one as an exact fit to replace it that is a bit thicker or a self inflating do you have any recommendations?
@SnowysOutdoors
@SnowysOutdoors 6 лет назад
Hi Zac, the mattress that comes with the RS1 is a unique size, the closest mat I can find in our range that would fit is the Darche All Terrain Mattress 1100. I have this a go in our display RS1 Swag for you, and it's a snug fit widthways with about 10cm of space at each end. The hardest bit was getting it into the swag, I'd recommend throwing it in rolled up and letting it inflate inside the swag, and rolling it up as much as you can before taking it out. A thinner 900mm mat would also work, you'd just have a bit of floorspace on the side. I hope this is useful. ~ Ben

Would this swag survive heavy rain
@SnowysOutdoors
@SnowysOutdoors 5 лет назад
Sure would, the fabric is waterproof and seam sealed throughout and will handle heavy rain fine. ~ Ben

You don't seem to stock them anymore??

We don't at this stage - the swags that roll up seem to be more practical for campers, as the RS-1 Swag needs to go on your roof racks ~ Lauren

Breathable Material?
@SnowysOutdoors
@SnowysOutdoors 4 года назад
I wouldn't call it breathable fabric, Kay. It's a heavy duty polyester with a PU coating with makes it waterproof and pretty much mitigates breathability. It does have good ventilation though so you can keep the inside of the tent fresh and free of condensation. ~ Ben

It's at least 40 cm too long. If I have to add a roof rack and carry it up there, I might as well get an RV1, 2, 3, 4, or 5. It needs to fold to not much more than the Bunker/Bunker XL.
@dentray
@dentray 5 лет назад
RV1 is the go in my opinion! I have had the RV1 over a year and have not used my RV3 since. The RV1 bag looks about the same size as the RS1 swag if not smaller., the other RV,s are way too long and overhang too far at each end on a standard roofrack/roofbar set up and on a luggage cage need support in the guts.The RV1 awning is bigger than the other RV,s and you can stand upright, just need to bend to get in & out of the tent bit. The RV1 is much less bulky than most king size.swags and have you felt the packed up weight of the Bunker XL? they are way heavy.
