OZZY live 1984 - Band Jacke E. Lee (guitar) Bob Daisley (bass) Tommy Aldridge (drums) Don Airey (keyboards) Tracks: I don't know - Mr. Crowley - Flyin' high again - Drum solo - Crazy train #ozzyosbourne #ozzy #ozzylive
I know this term gets tossed around a lot, but Tommy imo is so underrated. He's one of the drummers I taught myself how to drum playing along to his songs. I liked him in whitesnake, too. I like how Tommy actually utilizes and plays his entire cymbal setup. Its not there just for show or to have a stereotypical big 1980s drum setup lol. Some guys back then and even today have a huge array of cymbals on their live kits but only use the main crashes in front but even till this day Tommy still uses the same drum set configuration and uses all his cymbals.
Way cool 😎! I'm surprised I missed that one @ The Cow Palace. I've seen Many gigs there! I did see Ozzy for his 1st solo tour @ Oakland Coliseum Day on the Green, with Randy Rhodes! Does that count? Lmao 😂! Rock On! The Atomik sends. Peace ✌. 😊
those lowlifes needed Bob to help structure songs and write the lyrics when Ozzy would toss out stupid song titles like Bark at the Moon and Thank God for the Bomb
He did it for the music like any great musician would want to be a part of. Bob Daisly has said his relationship with Ozzy was pretty good when it was the two of them working together but whenever Sharon showed up Ozzy would always end up taking her side regardless of how ridiculous/terrible/unethical her demands were. It was the very definition of a toxic relationship but she made the money happen so there was no way around dealing with her.
@@billriddle9215 I believe Bob retired back to Sydney, Australia. He was never a limelight guy anyway. But Ozzy needed guys like him or he wouldn't have a solo career at all. Just like in Sabbath, Ozzy needed Geezer for the lyrics and Tony for the music. Bob was the brains and primarily the songwriter for Blizzard of Ozz and Diary Of A Madman. Ozzy has talent, but has always had huge limitations on what he can do himself.
I'm a Rhoads freak. He is my favorite all time guitarist ever. I saw this tour and Jake blew my mind. He's def Ozzy's best guitarist after Randy of course. Jake is way under rated. The man is an amazing guitar player
I saw randy on first blizzard tour, and later Jake….having enjoyed and studied both for 40+ yrs,…although this may be unpopular and near sacrilege, Jake is a better player, BUT that doesn’t mean he is better, randy was a better writer and composer which may mean more…..none of ozzy’s guitarist have equaled the compositions on diary of a madman, Randy’s writing was so adventurous, harmonically rich and complex….not really good for me to say either is better, both are better than 95% of the guys then, and a million times better than me
Read somwhere Jake and Warren Demartini of Ratt were roomates at some point. Jake is on fire here, he's an awesome guitarist. Jake and Warren two legends. Miss the 80's great time to be young.
@@tommcdonough6086 if your in the states mate u seen it all I’m in Australia we read it all unfortunately as I’m 58 now you just can’t beat 60s 70s and 80s hard rock heavy metal and back into drumming again idol Tommy Aldridge LLR and ROLL👍👌🤘🤘🤘
Yes they did Randy,Brad (only briefly but he saved there ass by being able to jump in on short notice and doing Randy’s work justice) Jake, Zakk, Joe Holmes, Gus G. Ozzy not being a musician would of been fucked without those guys
I was there too! I turned 13 a few months later. 🍻 This was my first concert, I remember the big cameras set up toward the back of the Salt Palace, the whole atmosphere was amazing. The old Salt Palace was great, seen Ozzy and Jake again a couple years later when he came with Metallica. Jake's playing, look, stage presence...he just ruled!
Me to , SF cow palace within days of your show & I was 2 weeks away from turning 12 . Although we got jipped motley crue didn't open like the bill said . Slade opened & probably never opened again after that .
That's the thing. It was like Newstead replacing Cliff. You can't do it and they tortured him. Ozzy took it out on Jake the same way almost. Jake saved him the same way Randy did. He was a mess. BATM and ultimate are great albums.
Legendary musicians backing up Ozzy. Just listen to Bob Daisley’s bass! Tight and thundering! My favorite Ozzy bassist. Tommy Aldridge. His drumming has this energy you can feel. Don Airey. His keys sets the atmosphere and is so tasty. Jake E Lee. His playing is like a fighter jet on maneuvers. As you can tell, I love using descriptive words! My favorite Ozzy lineup ever!
Pre-recorded bass. You can see it at 09:25 especially where he's strumming the bass with a pick but we clearly hear fingers being used on the bass line.
@@nicholasbstone I'm a bassist and you are oh so wrong. Not pre-recorded at all. He has the tone turned down on the bass to make it smooth. I'm guessing you have never played one. Ozzy's first three studio albums are all pick bass BTW. Live albums "Tribute" (I saw that lineup in 1981) and "Speak of the Devil" have Rudy Sarzo with fingers and that's it.
@@randalbugiel5692 Yeah, Randy was amazing, but his stage presence was kind of boring....he just stood still and didnt really move around to much. Jake was all over the place and looked like a guitar hero and he was.
It amazes me that this was 40 years ago. The quality of sound, the performance, the stage...... Ozzy was so on point most of time, live. It's live, it's raw, no teleprompters, no in ears, no click tracks, no dubbed in music, no pitch correction. I saw this tour. Is was $11.00 GENERAL ADMISSION to see the show. That works out to be $34 in today's money. The first time I saw Ozzy was on the Blizzard of Oz tour. I spent 2 plus hours pressed up against the fence in front of the stage. The security alley was about 8 feet. Stage was set at 7 feet off the floor. Toldeo Ohio.
I was a young buck of 16 in 84, great time to be young yes hard to believe this was 40 yrs ago. Time is sneaky scary fast. Almost 56 WHERE DOES THE TIME GO 😮😮😮. Peace..........
I was 18 in 1984 and had seen Ozzy in 1982 just after RR had died and Ozzy had shaved his head completely bald 😂 cracking gig though apart from not seeing RR and having to put up with Brad Gillis 😜@@tommcdonough6086

@@DukeHalliday-cv4fx Bob is still with us. Lee Kerslake(drums) passed not too long ago. Finally got his platinum discs for his work with Ozzy, before he passed.
@@jeffhodge7272 😮 that’s amazing. I was 10 when Randy died … and in the days before smart phones , social media and 24 news … I had no idea that even happened until I went to the record store to buy Ozzy’s Speak Of The Devil. It was the first album I was buying with my own money and couldn’t wait to hear it as Blizzard and Diary were two of my favorite albums … and as a beginning guitarist Randy was one of my favorite players. I pick up the record and look at the back and I’m thinking … where’s Randy ? I go to the guy at the store who knew all things rock and metal and asked “Did Randy Leave The Band ?” He looked at me and said …. You haven’t heard ? He died , man. In a plane crash earlier in the year. I was gutted. Tearing up the whole ride home with my mom. Fast forward 35 years later … and I’m in Miami playing on stage right before Yngwie and Steve Vai played with two very special guests , Niko McBrain and Rudy Sarzo. Before the concert I’m backstage early and who walks into room ? … Rudy. So there’s NO one else at the venue yet and we talked shop for a solid hour, he’s trying out my guitars (he’s VERY good at guitar … makes sense) and he’s letting me play his bass. It was surreal. 10 year old me was jumping for joy inside.
@joeylodes Wow.That's amazing! Brad Gillis was awesome on that SOTD album. His sound was skull crunching and he nailed Randy's links with class. When I saw Randy I was just barely aware of him. Blizzard tour was winding down and I had started playing guitar.I was blown away by Randy live. I remember seeing him rule that creme colored LesPaul. And how little he was compared to that polka-dot V he played.🤭
@@andynonimuss6298 Randy over Jake by far, but Jake is a pretty good guitarist, all he did was played a Randy's songs, until Bark at the moon, which was by far not Ozzy's best album
@@randalbugiel5692 He continued what was already established and put his own unique spin on things . And did a great job in my opinion. Don’t you think????????????????????
I never saw Ozzy sound this good in person. He was one of the most animated front men ever but, on key??? Never happened on this level. Have you ever heard Speak of the Devil? He sounds phenomenol on that album! Ever heard the actual tapes of those shows? Very different from the way we all remember them sounding! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KZ1Xab4YGZU.html This was Ozzy every time I saw him live. We all knew it was going to be like this and we went anyway for the spectacle and the band. Randy, Jake, Bob, Lee, Don, Rudy, Tommy, Phil, and Randy C. They never dissapointed. Spoiler alert, I never saw him from Zakk on. Partially because this was what he sounded like and I'd already been there and done that.
Born in 67 and vividly remember this tour. Motley Crue opened on shout at the devil tour. PHENOMENAL time for metal. Following tour, Ultimate sin tour with Metallica on master of puppets opening for Ozzy, think about how awesome that is. Fortunate to see Cliff Burton before his unfortunate passing. Jake was great, I'm sure he made Randy smile from the heavens. TRULY the best time to see sooooo many great bands before making it BIG!!! Thanks for posting
My pleasure brother, your welcome. Looking forward to more vids, for now keep crankin' it up and for me, AIR JAMMIN' THE LIVIN' SHIT out of my steering wheel in my truck!!!
Have to say, this is Ozzy at his vocal peak. He was spot-on and sounded and looked great. His showmanyship personality really shines through on this. I am so glad you posted it!
What a year! I saw Ozzy with Motley Crue opening, Dio at Red Rocks Amphitheater with Twisted Sister opening, Iron Maiden, Van Halen, Night Ranger, AC/DC with Yngwie Malmsteen opening in 1984.
I feel so lucky to have seen amazing shows like this one back in 1984, it was a great time to be young and enjoy this type of metal live that I still love, thanks for posting!!
Got to see him in 84 in the collesium in Seattle quite riot and mostly crue opened the show my senior year in high school my friends and I were tripping balls, what a great show that was.
Saw him too with Motley Crue, a few months later the Crue came back as front liners with Ratt and Great White! Ozzy launched many of the L.A. bands back then.
@louisscoppetto6147 , I believe the original poster was referring to a high-quality recording of live concert footage of Randy Rhoads with Ozzy Osbourne.
Wow!! This is a special performance!! Jake E Lee has always tried to pay respect to Randy Rhoads , but this performance seems xtra focused! That Crazy Train solo is freaking awesome!! Jake E Lee : the only guy that could step into that position, after the huge void Randy left
I love me some Jake and Ultimate Sin is a desert island frontrunner, but if another dude had been older Jake may have never gotten the gig. Marq Torien (Lead singer for Bullet Boys) was actually jamming with them for about a month but Sharon thought he was too young at the time. This was confirmed later by Rudy Sarzo. Eddie Van Halen gave Marq a guitar when he heard he might get the gig. Marq was cool with the VH guys.
@@gtdrummer6429 Ah no. Not the full gig but I'm pretty sure it's the same as what was shown on TV back in the day. It's a long time since I saw it on VHS!
This was my first concert. Ozzy/Motley Crüe in Portland, Oregon. I was 14, and this show blew my mind. I fell in love with live shows and have seen over 500 bands since then.
This a fantastic video considering its from 1984,it almost looks hi def, what a Fucking Gem! God Bless whoever shared, uploaded or whatever to this video ,you rock!
What a great time to be alive. Saw my first concert in 1979 which was KISS in Providence. Look at everyone having a total blast. Not yapping at each other. Probably loud as hell like it should be. I miss those days. I can't even go to concerts anymore. They are more like social gatherings and the crowds are so lame. It's good to see that mosh pits are still around for the heavier bands though. I got into professional sound reinforcement in 1990 and it was the best 10 years of my life. Got to work with the best of the best. i am older now but all of it is stored in my memory, there will never be a time like this again. If you were there consider yourself very lucky.
Well, no one can flll Randy's shoes but Jake is far better than he has ever been credited for. He stepped in after the passing of a legend. He was able to replay Randy's guitar lines with fhe same accuracy and spirit. At the same time, he wenr on to write platinum songs.
I only wished for Ozzy to reunite with Jake for the last several Albums he's done But Never did. I hope he has Jake even as a special guest for his final shows he is playing this year.
It is so crazy to me (pun intended) that Bob Daisley kept coming back to play with Ozzy after how badly he was treated by Sharon. He must be a bigger man than most, and definitely a better musician than most!
Exceptional footage and sound. Jake is such a stellar guitarist. I saw Ozzy in February 1982 with Randy Rhoads. Randy remains my favorite guitarist to this day. But Jake is just amazing. Good to see Daisley in action here. He and Rhoads were the architects of those first two albums and the band's sound. Very cool video.
,./ Thank you for sharing this. Man, The memories I have. . . Saw Sabbath with Ozzy and Dio and Ozzy solo probably 6 times. The chics were hot and the music rocked
Saw this tour with Motley Crue opening up in Dallas Tx, Reunion Arena. First metal/indoor arena concert ever at 15 years old. Man what a great show! Ozzy at his best.
@j.reveille6815 not sure what concerts you are going to but technology is a lot better now and they sound much better and tighter if it's a good live band. Not talking about backing tracks at all.
I remember watching the full concert. I recorded it. It was a much music saturday special. Jake did a wicked guitar solo in it.I remember just blown away first time seeing this guy.😬🤘
He wrote all the basslines you are hearing, co-wrote the music and played on Ozzy's first three albums and wrote the lyrics to all Ozzy albums up to "No More Tears" (except the Lemmy-penned ones). His name is Bob Daisley.-
@@erikhansen7754really? That is very cool. This was a sensational show for sure. I was more of a Maiden fan (“scream for me Long Beach!!’), but this was killer metal too
Was That in 1984 too? Cuz a couple concerts in that year at Long Beach Arena(Maiden and then Ozzy) the guys of Metallica and Armored Saint were both out there💣👊👊
I was at that concert back then. A very shortened version of it anyway, by the time they got around to that show. Too bad Sharon ensured a legacy of lies. We all love Oz. But we also know he didn't write a scrap of music, while she lives on Bob's and Jake's and Randy's royalties. Did I leave anyone out?
No we do not love Ozz, he is a lowlife, he ripped off Lee, Bob and Jake, He tried to kill his wife, punched Randy and Rudy broke Don Costa's nose, has lied about it being a band called Blizzard of ozz, overstated his contributions to songwriting. No chance someone with standards loves that bag. He and his wife give fans the middle finger, no holy grail tapes, no soundboard recordings of Rhoads and the band, no video. F him.
Don’t forget that a few years ago she sued Tony Iommi because he owned Black Sabbath. Ozzy signed his rights away in 1979 as well as Geezer, and Bill had signed their rights away to Black Sabbath. Tony literally owned the name. She sued Tony for 50% ownership since they argued that Sabbath was four guys. Shouldn’t that be 25% and not 50%?
Great googly moogly!! Jake E. Lee was like the David Lee Roth of guitar. Like the godamned Energizer bunny. I saw Randy Rhodes (w/ Rudy Sarzo & Tommy Aldridge) perform with Ozzy but still wish I had got to see Jake with Bob Daisley. Then there was Brad Gillis. Three unique guitar icons in a row.
