Pác Bó Cave where Ho Chi Minh Lived | Vietnam War | Destiny Of Modern Vietnam | China Border
About this video -
After having some thrilling time at Me Pia Pass, we continued our journey to Pac Bo Village through one of the finest limestone karst mountains scenery in the cao Bang region, next to the China border.
Soon enough, we reached our homestay for a much awaited lunch of noodles with local fried fish. This property was surprisingly beautiful, situated right in the midst of the valley with a mix of Vietnam and Chinese oriental feel.
We settled into our cosy room and proceeded to visit the most famous attraction of this region called Pac Bo Cave. This was where Ho Chi Minh stayed after coming out of Guangxi province of china for the first time in thirty years.
At the entrance there is a kiosk where you can buy entrance tickets 20,000 VND and from here it takes 10 minutes walking or a short 5 minute ride by electric buggy (included), to the beginning of the path around Pac Bo cave.
The first place we visited was a temple dedicated to Ho Chi Minh for all that he has done for the country.
Back in the buggy, we were taken to the beginning of a pathway, which loops around the Pac Bo Cave area. At the start of the pathway, there are stalls selling Uncle Ho memorabilia, refreshments, and trinkets. The gorgeous pool of turquoise water opposite the stalls is Lenin Creek, and the limestone hill behind it is Karl Marx Peak, both named, in the revolutionary spirit of the time, by Ho during his stay here.
Once you start on the stone pathway around the area (going anti-clockwise) you’ll see information plaques amongst the foliage and by the stream. There are spots where Ho would fish, swim, pick fruit, or write poetry during his time here in 1941.
Halfway along the path way there is a crossing that takes you to a border crossing milestone between Vietnam and China. Be aware that its a steep 1 km trek that gets very tiring and not many people opt to do this but the sheer pleasure of standing one foot in China and one foot in Vietnam kept us going and it was well worth the effort. It's a highly secured facility with lots of cameras and an actual locked gate overlooking some chinese buildings on the other side. We spent a good amount of time resting and playing in China and out of the China game before starting our decent back to the Pac Bo Cave.
Next was visit to the actual cave which was small and so well-hidden that one wonders how anyone could have found out Ho was sheltering here. Shafts of light enter the cave through small holes in the limestone. A couple of soft light-bulbs help to illuminate Ho’s wooden bed, a kettle over a campfire and the strange, Dali-esque formations in the limestone, that Ho named Karl Marx.
The stone path continues on the loop, passing under creepers and vines before reaching the starting point. Here, we met many military officers who were on some government sponsored tour to visit this historical place.
Eventually, another buggy ride took us back to the starting point, and we met our driver for a short drive back to the homestay.

--------------
We are Mayur, Gayatri, and Om residing in sunny Singapore. Amongst us we have an Indian who grew up in India, a Singaporean ceylonese who spent decade of her life in Australia and lastly our son, a true born citizen of the mixes, half Indian, half ceylonese and very Singaporean.
Our videos mainly consist of mountain climbing trips and some solo journeys but mostly of our family of 3. We thrive with each others company on our road less travelled in our own unique style. We really love off the beaten kind of adventures, eating local food, meeting ethnic tribes, going back in time with some historical sites, and simply getting lost. Being in corporate jobs for daily survival, our dream here is to inspire people to explore this beautiful world and realise that there is more in life than just 9 to 5.
