Polynesia is a subregion of Oceania, made up of more than a thousand islands scattered over the central and southern Pacific Ocean. The indigenous people who inhabit the islands of Polynesia are termed Polynesians, and share many similar traits including language family, culture, and beliefs. Historically, they had a strong tradition of sailing and using stars to navigate at night.
Internationally, Polynesian music is mostly associated with twinkling guitars, grass skirts and beautiful relaxing sounds, Hawaiian hula and other tourist-friendly forms of music. While these elements are justifiably a part of Polynesian history and Polynesian culture, there is actually a wide variety of music made in the far-flung reaches of Polynesia.
Traditional Music Channel is for everyone who has a passion for music.
Music is an expression of human creativity. UNESCO reports that among all the performing arts, music is the most universal and is found in every society, most often as an integral part of other performing art forms and other domains of intangible cultural heritage.
Traditional forms of music are considered carriers of cultural heritage because they represent expressions and traditions transferred through generations of a community.
With recordings from more than hundred nations our productions of traditional music offers a staggering diversity of our humanity.

Hi Vozie, to get rid of prejudices from western movies : Do the voices of the young women of your tribe sound similar to those of the polynesian vahinés? Are the women of your tribe also dancing not only with their legs but with their hips too? Do you understand what they sing like you would understand the languages of tribes surrounding your own tribe? (Like Algonkins and Iroquois understand each other if speaking slowly or Germans and Swiss guys...)

Kia orana! My recipe would be to mix maracujajuice with mangojuice and pineapplejuice, fill it into an empty half coconut from yesterday, add some vanillagrains from Madagascar (you may as well skip the vanilla, it became exorbitantly expensive nowadays) and fill it up to a thumb below the rim with coconutmilk, then put some debris of the ice rim from your fridge in it and fill up the rest with 10 or 12 year old rum (the white one from Martinique is preferable, if your grocer has it). Mix it all up very slowly, say "Vive la France ! " and drink it slowly while watching the sun sinking behind the horizon... Oh dear, that description made me thirsty now. Today we got 33 degrees C...😅 That day is definitely too hot for harvesting, better apt for a siesta with a smooth vahiné... ❤.😊 P.S.: 33 C the other day was nothing, we got 39 C yesterday and I'm still sweating 🥵... ah, un bon planteur agricole bien gardé au frigo loin de la chatte et des moustiques et richement assaisonné, rien de tel pour finir son dîner... 😅

Hi Kiwi, aren't the Maoris themselves polynesians? 😊 I may be wrong, but there's a relationship between Rarotongan, Tahitian and Maori. Like Dutch is related to English and German, isn't it?
@fennecabumukallalabdulmasi3867
@fennecabumukallalabdulmasi3867 10 месяцев назад
P.S.: Aren't there old sagas telling that the Maoris once upon a time came from Tahiti to invade NZ? If these old stories are more than fairytales, the Maori language and the Tahitian one should be related to each other like Icelandic and Norwegian or so. How about to show this video to a Maori neighbor and ask him, if he could translate it for you. In case he's able to translate it, the old pacific saga tells the truth... 😮
@johnsimpson3419
@johnsimpson3419 10 месяцев назад
Yes, Māori people are Polynesian.
@fennecabumukallalabdulmasi3867
@fennecabumukallalabdulmasi3867 10 месяцев назад
Did your Maori neighbours pass the translation test or did they fail? Sorry 4 being so curious, but I really would like to know the results... 😊 Another possible test is to compare common greetings, I mean when Maoris meet, do their greetings sound like Aroha oe!, Alofa oe!, Aloha oe! or similar? Or like ia ora na!, ia orana oe!, kia orana oe!, Kia ora oe! or something similar? Then it's for sure so related that they are able to understand each other if speaking slowly enough... 😊

One really cool experience I had with people from the Pacific Ocean was with a group of Marshallese teenagers they all listen to hip Hop and wore baggy clothes and I thought that since they grew up on the mainland they had forgotten their culture but the girl took out a ukulele and started playing a song and every one of them sorry to singing the song and they told me that the song is a prayer that they get to see their Homeland someday again. I was using a microphone to tell you this.

Probably due to same roots. I wouldn't be astonished if the Hawaiians too have old legends telling that their ancestors once upon a time came from the east or southeast or even more precisely from Chile or Peru. If that's the case, their languages have the same roots and in the last 1000 years the changes were not as big that they couldn't understand each other and as traditional music has a conservative effect on people also the old musical styles are related to one another. 😊

@jzjzjzj 11 месяцев назад
@@fennecabumukallalabdulmasi3867 yeah no, the maori are polynesians who came from rarotonga/tahiti, all polynesians originally come from taiwan(this is proven by genetic studies, they're related to the atayal/formosans) , though some polynesians in rapa nui(easter island) sailed to colombia and had genes from there at a low percent, from trading/mixing with native americans, and our word KUMARA comes from quechuan incan KUMAR, the kumara(sweet potato) also comes from the native americans through trade, yet it was in newzealand before the europeans came.
