Yes, if you peak around a corner in something around an 60 degree angle, most tier 4 and many tier 5s are not able to penetrate you 😅 I had a situation where i was attacked by a platoon of two Pz III/IV who used auto aim, what should i say: I won the engagement with 30hp left 🤣

I stuck with the middle gun when I marked this one back in the day. Pen difference is only like 10 or so vs the top gun. But it has 2x more HE pen and more base DPM. So you can slap lights and paper TDs like it's nothing.
While a bit off-topic, you can find that a certain RTS game from 2003 has buffed the P.43 to the point of capable of fighting against M1Abrams and win! But then again, this's the game where the best tank in USA arsenal is Humvee with rocket troop, (As in the player that build M1 instead of Humvee and rocket troop will lose against the latter two.) so some wackiness is to be expected. Also, you should be using the 75/46 gun (the "second best" gun) instead of the "best gun" 75 skoda, as that gun has 70 mm. HE pen and a better gun handling, at the cost of 10 mm penetration which is practically a negligible tradeoff.
The tier 4 in this line is a guilty pleasure for me. It has a rare quality of all 3 shell types being useful because the HE has 70mm pen. Getting a 200 dmg roll on a hellcat in a tier 4 medium is 👌🏻

when you play the crusader 5.5 in, use the stock gun, its better that the Lefh even considering the +2 reload time and less pen, because the gun arc you pen all day the roofs of the tier7-9 tanks
True @Skill4Ltu, the tier5 P.43 is nothing special other than the bad gun handling. after enjoying the P26/40 in tier4 with the nice gun utilizing great HE-penetration and expecting the P.43bis with 240 alpha gun in tier6, the tier5 in the line was kind of a disappointment. one of the few tech tree tanks above tier5 i sold after the grind. my results had been ok - at least for level - but as you say too, it has nothing special to offer. just the step in between tier4 and tier6.
The thing is you have to use the second gun (75/46) instead of the final gun (skoda) to gain access to 70 mm. pen HE and better gun handling. The tradeoff is that you have 10 mm less pen on standard AP, but Panzer IV H of the same tier has the same AP pen on its best non-derp gun and still doing fine, that lower pen is negligible I'd say.
great HE only with tier4's gun to start with. the skoda gun just has usual HE but i used it for the better penetration. i only played it after HE rework, so HE from tier4 lost some of its devastating power. still the tier4 i play once in a while just for the HE. on the tier4, i am not aware i used any premium ammo just the HE is so powerfull

Oh man, that is the tank on my account with the highest wn8 😅 Marked it in 77 Battles with slightly over 4k wn8 and 67% win ratio 😊 That no bad result for me as an average player 😊 Only thing holding this tank back in my opinion is the quite inaccurate gun combined with camparably low top speed for a medium... But the trollish armor is fun 🤣
