Hi Paul. Dunno if you've heard this tip before, but I have noticed that a common ingredient in shaving soaps / creams is often extra virgin coconut oil. You can get this stuff quite cheaply (I paid less than 2 quid for a 276 gm jar). Warmed up a bit (till it melts) it serves as a surprisingly effective preshave oil & skin conditioner.

Great video and beautiful bouquet. Thanks. I had some difficulty lathering the PL croap, so I looked up their web site to see if they had any usage tutorials. They do and have a specfic one addressing how best to lather their soaps. In essence it is suggested to moisten the puck and load the brush directly from the tin. Certainly helps improve lather's creamier build up.

I have the same soap and it's quite a dense lather doesn't dissipate at all... Nice shave Paul 👍

We could hear her purring :) Incidentally for my Wednesday SOTD I used the PAA Bakelite Open Comb Slant (ox blood color). Great razor, efficient no doubt about that. I believe I have seen you using a black version one some years ago.

i have two kina bathe soaps also for shaving slick BUT no good lather so only using them for shower lol they also dissipates fast. Great video and shave , cheers....Peter

When I was young my Grand mother would always have this nice smelling bar soap called Cashmere Bouquet. It would be nice to have a shaving soap that smelled like that.

Hi Paul. I’ve got the “traditionnel” and the “l’aînesse miel” versions of that soap. Those soaps usually perform really well and are very creamy/thick (they are the best I have in my “collection” :p). However, you’ve got to be very careful with the amount of water you use (start with a brush with nearly no water and build up the lather adding water bit by bit) :) Also, you can load up the brush directly on the soap’s tub. Hoping you will give it another try and you will enjoy it more. (Sorry for my English, I’m not a native speaker). Have a great day :D

Good afternoon Paul! Those orange-yellow roses (High Magic rose?) are gorgeous; thank you Mrs. H!! Hello Mili...so cute. I like the smell of the fougere soap I have; Castle Forbes 1445. That smells like a Don River Valley forest full of fern. Those Gillette Nacet blades are very sharp and long-lasting. Wow, that Phantom Blue slant razor just mowed down your whiskers easily. Only the end of the first pass and you have a work ready shave. I can see you are disappointed in the shave soap's lather. Frankly, I find my boar brushes produce this thinnish lather. The only two solutions to this is to either add more soap product (sometimes a lot more) or get a synthetic brush and give it a go. SOTD: all brass Karve CB razor (C-Plate) loaded with a 1960's Scottish Perma-Sharp Supreme blade (2nd use). Fine American Blend shaving soap lathered with a That Darn Rob 26 mm Tuxedo synthetic brush. Finished with Thayer's AF SF skin toner and PAA CaD aftershave. I had a superiorly smooth shave and smell of Barbasol...true barbershop scent. Your shave was very envious as well. Please stay safe and healthy. Take care.

SOTD (not technically today, was yesterday): Muhle R41 (first time use, very exciting), Gilette Minora Blade, Bundubeard "14" glycerine based soap, Simpson's Trafalgar T3 brush. Beautiful display of color this morning as usual from Mrs H, thanks. LPL is great soap, I have the "Oud Santal" version which I think is discontinued. I think you used too much water to start, just add a little soap and continue lathering. This razor looks like a gimmick to me, but it seems to work good. SOTD: PAA Cube, Mr Fine "Santal Absolute" soap/splash, Elite Razor custom badger, Rockwell 6C w/Nacet blade, alum, Thayers witch hazel and AV 5 in 1 balm...outstanding👍 Great video as always, take care, stay well. Morning Paul. I have the El Fantazma, which is the white glow in the dark slant just like the Phantom Blue, from PAA. I like the razor but you have to keep in mind it is a slant and very light when using it. We are fortunate here in Phoenix not experiencing to snow and cold weather like most of the US is. You do a very good job with the slant razor. Do you have any other of the slant razors offered by other companies? Have a nice day and try and stay warm while doing your Royal Mail duties.

Most often, light, travel razors are quite aggressive. But effective too. So I always thought this razor was also very aggressive. If it feels mild-mid, it might be because of the blade. Many thanks.

Hi Paul. Another good shave for sure. Usually when a soap or cream disappoints me I`ll sometimes marry it with another soap or cream and sometimes it turns out fairly well. One example is Kiss My Face shave cream with Williams mug soap. Turned out pretty good. Cheers pal.🍺😀

Great shave. I have a black cat that’s barely been in my house for less than a month now. She’s getting big as she likes to ear enormous amounts of food every time she’s hungry. The weather here in Chicago, IL is treacherous as with many US states, but I’m doing alright and everything is working in order

Good shave today. Funny at the end with the mentholated tears. A simple and fast SOTD for me today. Williams soap used as a stick, Omega S brush. Lord L6 razor with a Polsilver blade. Some locally produced aftershave lotion called Eliot Green Aspect (smells a lot like Palmolive shave stick) and some Balea aftershave balm.

It’s crazy you have not used shaving cream in a can. It’s what my father used so when I first started shaving I used the same. It wasn’t until my grandmother gave me a present of an Old Spice mug and puck with a brush that I stopped using the foam in a can. Come a long way since then.

Conrats on the 17k subs! Sometimes a soap need some extra attention, recently I discovered this with some quite hard to lather soaps like the Eucris and a dutch soap from Pappa’s, they didn’t work out at all for me at first. My ‘fix’ was to really start out with a brush that’s well hydrated but without any excess water else it gets very bubbly and airy, it’s pretty hard to recover from that. So slowly add water when you go. But it takes patience, not something I always have and want to spend time on having quite a few soaps that lather a lot easier.

Great shave Paul. l have the glow in the dark version of that razor. l find it 'mild' and have to buff alot more than l like with it to get a what l call a "good shave". My Mom passed Dec 27th. lt has been up & down... barely shaved. Once every 2 weeks whether l needed it or not. Lol. Been getting out walking in the sunshine here last few days and am keeping busy. Still... there is a big hole in my life.

If the performance of their [LPL] vegan formula left something to be desire, might I suggest you look into their tallow base? I have the apricot in that and it is wonderful.
