The effects of Covid 19 and the actions we are taking to rid us of this virus, are having an almighty impact on the human world. It is nothing but very serious, however any Wodehouse enthusiast and hopefully those that are as yet unaware they are, will surely be smiling at some of his best lines and his capturing of scenes with such colour and humour which PGW gave us in this story written in 1925. It is of course for everyone to enjoy but in so far as it is possible to dedicate a RU-vid post, I would like to do just that. To all those people who are still hard at work getting on with doing all the stuff that for so long we have taken for granted and provide us with everything we have come to see as essential for living and comfort. Yes, everyone involved in healthcare, hospitals and the like but also those that ensure our electricity, water, oil and gas quietly keep on coming. For farmers and growers harvesting and preparing for the next crop. For all those in factories, offices, in supply chains, transport and retail that are carrying on, to make it possible for the rest of us to carry on. Thank you all.

Not at all related to PGW, but I have recently dug out my copy of Nella Last's "War" diary - for re-reading and thinking that then, as now, so many were scared that they would not survive the next week, let alone the duration of the war for however long that would take. And we won't have the equivalent of a V-E or a V-J Day - there certainly will not be a sailor kissing a nurse in Times Square. Your voice, Nick Martin, is coming via my laptop instead of a radio, but it is to the same purpose: SOS [Saving Our Sanity]. Many thanks.

Idk how I missed this 2 wks ago but am so glad I didnt miss out all together! Tysm for your dedication to all the heroes serving the public & putting themselves in harms way. It is a shame that it takes something like this for us to finally pull together & also for us to recognise those who have been protecting & serving before & beyond this crisis. God Bless one & all!

In these times that try men’s (and women’s) souls, there is a beacon,,,, a ray of sunshine beaming through the grey heaviness of uncertainties that avail us all at this juncture of our existence. Trickynicky Marts , I’m compensating for a couple of stories I have enjoyed but may not have expressed my appreciation. Besides, you’re worth it old chap and it really doesn’t take that much to pen a few kind words. I listened to one of your narrow boat narrations, the Tunnel, but I can’t seem to find it or the other one now. Could you guide me. I love inland waterways and believe if I lived over there I would be drawn to narrow boat life.

The word “honor” has a silent “h”, so why does the reader pronounce Honoria with a hard “h”? And when she is criticizing Bertie Wooster, she says her aunt says he was an “invertebrate waster”, which is a misreading. Wodehouse wrote “an inveterate waster”. Some ought to have acted as a Director for this production to catch such errors.

When Bertie surprises Miss Sippoli in the shrubbery, she is said to execute a leap like a dancer who steps on a tin tack halfway through The Vision of Salome. And instead of pronouncing it correctly (Sal oh may), he calls her Salome to rhyme with Stallone. Dreadful nonsense. Probably he doesn’t even know who Salome was!

I have a degree in Linguistics and spot every single one of Nick's errors. The difference is, you think self aggrandising mudslinging will sort it out. I also have a PhD in Pedagogy, and the way to encourage accuracy is to leave it to the professionals who understand how people learn. You clearly are NOT one of those. Instead you promote embarrassment and come across as arrogant. Nick reads these in his beautiful soothing voice, out of sheer pleasure and you choose to insult, criticise and troll. Far better all round if you give him a miss.
