Rare to see a professional classical performer comment on his own videos. This performance was magical, especially the solos. I aspire to become a violinist and musician of your caliber, sir, although in truth, I really do not have the talent ingrained in my person like you. I resort instead to living it vicariously listening to the most excellent musicians like you play. Truly must be living the dream to be the leader of one of the most respectable orchestras in the world.

Have to thank you personally for this excellent performance! I listen to this at least once a week, always as good as the first time I heard it and just watching you use the violin as if it is en extension of yourself brings joy to my heart.

The cellist need more credits right? Dude that last bit when the cello and violin sing together, that’s probably one of the most romantic melody and interpretation I have heard in my life

Violin is just perfect.... then when you see the melody combined with the ballet performance... turns a unique wonderful piece of art.

3:20 is probably my favorite part in all of Swan Lake. (here he's playing it a bit faster than I'm used to hearing, because typically the orchestra slows things down for the ballerina) but i could listen to this over and over again. never get sick of it. bravo!

would you have the amiability of telling me what is the context of the story here?? I have to play this and I would like to have a picture in my mind of the scene :) Thanks!!
@SaltySugarPlum
@SaltySugarPlum 7 лет назад
this music is played during the pas de deux between the white swan (Odette) and the Prince. Odette is very vulnerable (and kind of whiney lol) character. The high pitched violin is lamenting about how she is trapped in a swans body. she is describing her plight to the Prince as they dance together. (She is a Princess of high birth who fell under the spell of an evil sorcerer, she is swan by day, and human by night. she is condemned for eternity, unless a virgin youth swears eternal fidelity to her and marries her, only then can the spell be broken. if he should forswear her, then she must remain a swan forever.) it's mostly sad. Her arms do very fluid movements to look like struggling, quivering swan wings. he lifts her in the air (to resemble flying) but she shies away, small movements with her arms shield her face for protection. Very delicate. She comes from a place of loneliness and despair. Dancing with the Prince may be a sign of hope, but she is reluctant to be with him. (foreshadowing of the 3rd act, because he betrays her and falls in love with Odile "black swan" the sorcerer's daughter) Spoiler Alert: Odette and the Prince die in the end. if you search youtube videos of "Swan Lake pas de deux white swan" you should find it

This is one of the most in tune and beautiful White Swan I have ever heard before because most of the White Swan were out of tune on the higher register (especially on the slur off-off part). Not only you have a beautiful tone, but your interpretation and highest artistic performance touched my heart. Congratulations!
