Clearly, O'Rourke is far more impressed with his words than with consideration of accuracy and impact of his speech. Am not a GOP fan, nor a supporter in trans-bashing - both represent in current politics as being far-right conservative intolerance of any/all outside the limited box in which they view the world. And - clearly - that includes the current presumed president of the United States.

Jeb was boring and weak. I remember Trump insulting Jeb to his face at the first debate and Jeb just threw his arms out to each side, like he was surrendering. If I was a Republican I wouldn't have voted for Jeb. On a separate matter, how can O'Rourke; who hasn't been living anything close to working class level since he went to college, possibly understand the anger of the people who supported Trump? (I'm not defending Trump, I'm just trying to make a point about the speaker.) By any standard P.J. O'Rourke is an elite. Yes, the Republican rank and file now fawns on a conman and wouldbe dictator as their leader. We should all be appalled, but O'Rourke is upset the rank and file Republicans are no longer drinking the standard Republican Kool Aid. I'm at the 20 minute mark of this video and I'm done watching this has been. (I'm guessing that once upon a time he may have been funny or insightful, he sure isn't now.)

I can listen to Republicans like P.J. for a while until I realize that I am a frog being boiled and have to exit the pot. For example: He mentions the fact that William Jennings Bryan was an Abolitionist but dismisses the importance of such Abolitionists because Mr. Bryan's views on racism were not enlightened enough for him. I suppose P.J. would rather have seen the institution of slavery maintained until Abolitionists evolved to the point that they insisted on the Civil Rights Act being passed alongside freeing the slaves. P.J. might want to ask a slave about that. P.J. , always the Republican who must distance himself from the Progressives which split from his own traditional big money Republican Party, states that Bryan's solution to the shortage of money in the system was to print more money. This is another Republican Anti-Progressive Alternate Fact. Bryan wanted to use silver to back the currency rather than just gold, allowing more money to flow into the farm lands and not just to big city fat cats on Wall Street. P.J. should try and watch The Wizard of Oz in proper context where Dorothy walked across the country following the "yellow brick road" of gold only to find a Wall Street stooge behind the curtain. P.J. even gives FDR a fake handshake, saying in essence that the New Deal policies were better than Hitler's or Charlie Lindbergh's Fascism. Thanks P.J. I suppose we must accept such praise gracefully and resist the urge to throw a shoe in response to such a left handed compliment. But I did enjoy National Lampoon in my youth and I thought the cover with the dog with a gun to its head was cute, that is until I understood P.J. a bit better. Now I get it. That poor dog is a symbol for the American public being held hostage until we go along with Wall Street's demands that we buy the magazine, but P.J. seems to think that We The People who are the government don't have the power and privilege to demand that the gun be removed from the dog's head, that somehow if we don't or are not allowed to compel the Invisible Hand to stop threatening the dog that the Invisible Hand will put the gun down of its own accord. We are still waiting, P.J. But some of us don't feel that way, P.J. Keep that Invisible Gun Hand pointed at our dog long enough and someone will whack off the hand with an axe and hand it to that Liddle Man from Vermont on our behalf.

Hilary blew it. Unfortunately. I voted for her, but I live in California so it did not matter. She won California by 3 Million votes, she won popular vote by 3 million votes, but she lost electoral college by 74,000 votes in three states that traditionally voted democratic - Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. She did not even bother to go to Wisconsin. Her strategy for swing states was inadequate. Also Wiener with the photos of his crotch sent to under-aged girls did not help.
