Here I take apart the back of the combination area to see how it works. You can also change the combination just by moving that one key to a different hole or move the dial around.
My brother bought an old western electric phone box with a locked PO BOX door in it and asked me to figure out how to get it open. Thank you for your excellent video.
Great video. Thank you. Now my big problem is getting the door open. It is currently installed in a nice oak box, but is locked. We do not have the combination.😢
Thank You SOOOOOO much you are my HERO! Great video very informative you touched on all the points that were going through my mind as I played with the doors. The cylinders or whatever its called do not have numbers but they are they same. I have to turn them around line the slots correctly. Phewwww...I was so sad thinking I would have to toss them because I ruined the combinations. Now Ill have nice clean doors with working combinations! I have a simple recipe for cleaning the doors if your interested. Thanks
Oh no numbers on the last dial? How strange. JK. millions of these doors were made and different companies too. Think back in the past it was someone's job to do the combinations on all of these doors. Glad this helped out.
I have a single dial bank, but the inner workings are more complicated. If I sent/enailed a photo, would you know of a resource that could help me reset the combination. I took it apart to oil it and the combination no longer works. Thanks!
If you box is not homemade, which that plate up top to put the coins in. That plate can come off giving you more room to get the bar that keeps the door shut.. If you can reach it with something to move that bar over it will open the door. Then you can find out what the Cambo was. 😀
Thanks for the video. I got a bank off eBay that was open and would not close/lock. Well, I got it locked, but hahaha....now I can't unlock it. What to do now ?
Thank you very much for the reply. I was shocked to get one. I have asked many questions over the years and this is my first REPLY EVER. Unfortunately, no holes to see the bar. When it DIDN'T lock and close I had loosened the screw and the bar moved just a bit, I guess I should have made sure it was working smoothly before shutting it. Oh well, it's a GR8 item whether it functions properly or not but it will drive me nuts till I FIX IT. Thanks for your input.
if you have it all put together in the right order and the door is open/ off (off being off of the coin box) you can move the dial and see those open spaces line up in the combination (turn the nob to where the open spot is and see what letter/ number it lands on). Its kind of hard to type out to understand. I would need to see what your working with, what the door looks like. I only have a few different ones I can play with. send me a PM and a email address if you can send pictures of the door in question. Ill see if I can help you out.
@@michaelnelson5163 try this, use the combo with the letters as it is. But do a before the letter then turn to the next combo but after the letter then the next before.. So doing the combo it would be before after before. Or it maybe a after before then after.. Understand! 😅
