@@jheathmusic - the LTF flats are definitely fun to play, it's so cool to be able to bend a flatwound string. The sound is pretty good, too, it definitely has that flatwound flavor. However, my tastes have moved more towards the traditional La Bella Deep Talkin' flats these days. They just sound more like what you expect from a flatwound string, thicker and meatier. The 760-FM (.049-.109) set is my personal favorite, but they are pretty stout (i.e. high string tension). I've dropped back to the 760-FS set (.045-.105) to give my hands a break. The next step down would be the 760-FL set (.043-.104). Those don't work for me because I play a P bass (the Lull P4 used in this video), and I find that the two halves of the P pickup sound different with the FL set. The D/G side is thinner sounding than the E/A side, and I don't like that. That's probably not an issue with a J bass (or any bass with an inline pickup), but the offset nature of a P pickup can sometimes cause problems like that. Anyway, I find the FS and FM sets sound well balanced on my P bass, so that's my preference. BTW - we are a La Bella dealer, so give me a shout if you'd like to grab a set. I've got the LTF's, the FL and the FM in stock. And I've got more FS sets on order, I hope they arrive by the end of the month.
