Good day, Thank you for the good tutorial . I have a 2006 Nissan x-trail (T30) with 305 000 km 4 cyl 2.5 l. Good reliable car overall. I replace the downstream 02 sensor with an NGK 24407 (new) only to see p0420 code turn on. Hence I put the old sensor back and erased the codes. I find it strange that a new O2 sensor would crate this problem. Since my vehicle has high mileage i thought putting new sensors would improve the idle. They are original to the vehicle.
Yes, that's definitely an option. With a wide-open thermostat, the engine will not reach running temperatures, nor will the cat-converter. This is especially true if the error pops up only during longer drives.
2014 Chevrolet Volt has no engine light on anymore but show P0420 as a permanent code. Put cat cleaner through it but permanent code stays but does not trigger engine light. 💡 still fails smog
