After you yank a bunch of shit out of it you are done at that point. That is the cap on how fast you can go. There is no experience or knowledge to be gained from modifying an electric car. You don't earn every tenth like you do perfecting a gasoline powered car over years and years. The experience goes no further than just putting your foot down and letting the car do the rest. There are no visceral feelings like an exhaust so loud you can feel it in your chest. Parts moving and brutally clashing together making raw power, electric cars are just dead.

actually there is VTEC equivalent(well almost) of electric motor. it called Burst Current. ESC , Electronic Speed Controller , responsible to control and deliver power to the motor can give extra punch for short ammount of time

A roadster goes for 250K right? A GTR will cost you about 60-70K right? can you imagine what you can do to a GTR with the rest of the budget from the 250K? It will litterly shit on the tesla without even blinking, you gonna be looking at 2000BHP and a 7-8 second car.

@@sideways6087 If someone wants a passion project that will consume every ounce of their spare time then spending $150,000 turning a used GTR into a fire breathing drag monster would be a fine project, but the reality is I think most people with that kind of money are going to buy a purpose built supercar that's designed for those speeds and won't brick itself every year and require constant preventative maintenance like a 2000hp GTR would need.

Nah, doubt he will be. Years ago some guys already did a far better job on modifying Tesla's: they optimized aerodynamics, gave 'em a more aggressive final drive ratio AND made 'em lighter by using carbon fiber bodyparts. They even improved the looks and quality of the interior.

also one simple question; what happens when one tiny chip fails? its all electric right? I can still drive 60, 70's (heck even 80 and some of 90's) with total busted electric system, cant say the same for tesla or any other highly CPU dependable car. Tesla's are great, but its not point in acc but in "green energy" and thus conserving electric energy stored in batts. anything else, they're wasting energy just like ICE one does.

1. Redundancy(multiple CPUs and backups) 2. I don't think I've ever seen a CPU just flat out die under normal conditions. We've got 40 year old satellites still chugging along with their CPUs eating space radiation 24/7. 3. Using energy stored in a battery is much more efficient than using energy stored in gasoline. 4. Power plants are more efficient than your typical engine. 5. Even if the power generation came from a coal plant, having a single point of pollution is much easier to capture and process than hundreds of millions of individual points of pollution.

Remember, they're playing 10 second index, and the tesla has hit 9's before. So chances are he let off a little too much thinking he'd be closer. The cadillac actually almost lost. Another .3 seconds, and he'd have been under 10 seconds, and would have lost. Remember, the point of the race is to get as close to 10 seconds as possible, without going under.

Tops speed isn't important in a race... acceleration is... top speed for a Model S is 155mph and the new roadster is said to have a top speed of 250mph+ no ICE will ever achieve that level of acceleration because of transmissions and lack of torque, unless they come up with some other way to achieve it... like brushless electric motors... ohh wait... that's a Tesla :P

Single Gear, car was not designed for top speed. Lucid Air which has Orbital Gear CVT achieved 235.44mph around a Bowl.
