Thank you for the video and all the details. I looked at the video before and did not understand. Now i know. First thing i did was to replace the gasket and codes appeared. Then I replaced the oil control pressure switch and then the solenoid valve (cheap one). I am still having same issues. Now i know thanks to you what should be done. Thank you.
@@lordedin Gasket alone will very likely let you down at high speed. The assembly replacement with valve adjustment will take of the things for some good time.
P2647 rocker arm actuator system stuck on bank 1 ...2005 honda odyssey van runs great though...will this be the same as yours....anyway thanks for your time and expertise that's some serious reading and classes one has to finish to get certified...
Hello, I replaced the solenoid spool valve and now I have a problem, I have the check engine light on and the codes p0300, p03005, p03006, what went wrong?
Hi, my 2008 honda odyssey has code P3497 in bank 2, the van still drives but it is weak and wants to shut off. Should I change the V-tech assembly solenoid only? or do I have to do other things? it looks like you opened the top of the engine. please advise!
@@theasemechanic no other codes, I changed the oil already but it did not fix the problem. I got 2 codes P3497 one says permanent the other one says temporary. Any chance I get you email or number please
Got a oil change day later engine light on p3497 and p0304 changed spark plug n coil pack and wires p0304 went away was still giving p3497 called honda they said replace spool valve, is that all i have to do?
Sometimes you just need to change the upper part of the v tech solenoid if not you need to replace the whole assembly. I would recommend watch the live data of the pressure switches while drive around. There might be oil restrictions
Accord coupe EX-L 2010 3.5l, had a leak onto the alternator fixed the alternator and installed eBay gaskets on the solenoid and it worked fine although was consuming more gas for a couple days, but today it started shaking and doesn’t speed up when pressing the peddle all way down I got check engine as well code p3497 do I have to change the whole solenoid (15810-R70-A04) and how about the part under that where the dipstick is located what’s the part number for that? Would I need to change that as well?
@@theasemechanic yeah I found that loosening the solenoid and pulling it up to release pressure then putting it back fixes it just can’t go over 60mph, I have both parts coming in tomorrow thank you
@@theasemechanic I had my alternator and camshaft adjuster solenoid replaced by professional mechanic. Few weeks later it got this code P3497. Do you think it’s the O2 sensor that I need to replace or is it something else?
Hi, I/ got 2015 Honda Pilot EX-L with codes P3497, P0300, P0304, P2659, check and changed oil, replaced oil pressure switches, replaced front (bank 2) spool valve assembly, and new coil packs, all genuine honda parts, still have codes. Not sure what to do now, don't know if there is anything else i can do, I even ohm'd circuit for p2659 and everything in spec. Seems like leading me to PCM reflash, or bad pcm? Wondering if there is anything else you know about. I know 2013 3.5L have TSB 13-055 reagarding oil pressure relief spring in oil pan. Anything you can recommend would be greatly appreciated, don't know where to go from here.
Do you have a scan tool that reads live data? If so try read the oil pressure switches for bank 2 which is near to radiator. The misfire code you saw has nothing to do with coils packs, if you ok enough budget to replace coils, it’s fine unless put the old one back
Just so you know sometimes one code triggers others..its like a LED strip you can cut at it one point and itll kill all.the other leds and theres a point where you can cut it and itll still keep glowing ..same thing with diagnostic codes
Had oil leak from spool valve. Decided to replacing gaskets from eBay marked from Honda (15845-R70-A1, 15815-R70-A1) Started with no codes. Fixed leak then days later engine light came on (P3497). Cleared codes now Both (P3497, P0304) come on. Should I Start replacing entire spool assembly first? If not what next?
@@theasemechanic Yes, I started with the eBay gaskets in an attempt to fix oil leak. Afterwards check engine popped up (P3497, P0304). Recently installed front spool valve (15810-R70-A04), still testing but currently 100+ Miles and no new codes.
Hey I’m having the same issue on my 2008 Honda Accord v6. I replaced the cylinder deactivation system sensor on bank 2 but the p3497 code is still on. What should I do next??
@@theasemechanichey do you know the part number to the top part? Not the oil pressure switch but the other plug just above it. I think it’s the vtec solenoid?? I’m not sure and can’t find a part number in it
I replaced the two gaskets on vtec solenoid on 2009 Honda Pilot because I was getting a leak from the solenoid to the alternator and did an oil change. Two days later engine light and vtm4 popped. Bought a new vetch solenoid assembly from amazon. Installed it and cleared the code. Two days later same code p3497 bank 2 stuck open. came back with check engine and vtm4. I notice that if I unplug the battery for 5 mins the light would disappear and the vehicle would run normal again until the check engine and vtm4 comes back in again then the car would go into a limp mode. Help please I’m out of ideas.
I guess my next thing is to take off the throttle body and valve cover and replace the whole solenoid by removing the rocker arms and installing Dorman’s full vtec solenoid assembly.
I have code. P3497. But I have 2008 accord v6 & it say something about oil pressure This is the first v6 accord I have With this code. Please help me And thank you
@@sonny323 it’s just the oil pressure switch man. Is the oil pressure switch closes to you. There’s two oil pressure switches. One in the back and one in front of you! Is the one closes to you. All these people explaining is a different thing but it’s not
