In this clip, Gen Rigpa instructs us on how to do the meditation, The Nine Exhalations. We can use this meditation to balance our energy and clear our mind of negativity - both for its own sake and as a method to clear away mental debris before engaging in other meditations.
These instructions are found in the Tantric Buddhist Masterpiece Clear Light of Bliss, from the chapter Inner Fire, or Tumo and are a warm-up meditation from a series of Tantric meditations in Clear Light of Bliss written by meditation master Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche.
These Tantric breathing meditations are designed to lead us to Enlightenment by teaching us how to realize and manifest our very subtle mind, our mind of clear light. This first meditation is called The Nine Exhalations and is designed to help us balance our energy and dispel negativity.
