Well done. I’ve seen a lot of simmers fight to recover from spins. But you correctly removed power since it is actually helping drive the spin.

He did reduce the power to show you the spin . I think you should reduce the power soon as spin starts.

Nice! During my RL flight training, I was doing that exact training by my third flight (172). The sim view here berry berry close 😉. Btw… hope all is good w/you! Cheers

There was some controversy regarding FAA approval of doing spins in the PA-38 due to higher percentage of stall/spin accidents. They did appear to have released an airworthiness directive for adding stall strips to the inboard leading edge. I was taking my flight lessons in the PA-38 around that time and the flight-instructor was disallowed by his company to demonstrate a spin in the Tomahawk

I trained in a PA-38 over 30 years ago, and it could be nasty in stalls. I remember going up with the CFI and he showed me how to do a wing drop stall, lower power and pitch up at stall speed and it will drop a wing....then pitch forward with opposite rudder to recover. I did a few and then dropped the CFI back at the airstrip and went up to practice them solo. Very 1st stall, I pull back and the plane shudders but didn't want to drop a wing, then all of a sudden it rolled inverted into a nose down spin....all I could think to do was opposite rudder and hope the speed increased enough to roll back to wings level, which luckily it did but that was enough for me that day.
