Alhaji Pa Makang, the renowned Gambian comedian, has delivered a powerful message: merely changing presidents will not alleviate poverty in The Gambia if we do not first address our attitudes.
In a recent discussion on VM La Kacha Dula, addressing farmers, Alhaji Pa Makang stated, “Many Gambians are complacent, preferring to beg and criticize rather than contribute positively. It’s time for us to return to our roots and culture, rather than blaming leaders for our problems.”
Pa Makang stressed that voting for new leaders is insufficient without a collective effort to change the attitudes and behaviors that perpetuate inequality and stagnation.
