This setup is perfect for those in bands or DJ's at events, parties or the gig at the pub.
I highly recommend an active system, as it is less outboard gear.
2 x 12" Speakers and either 2 x 15" or 2 x 18" subs will work really well together.

this one has helped me with Active vs passive. I love active systems, I don't have to worry about all the jargon that comes with passive speaker systems.

You might not want to test with your subwoofers right in the cancellation zone. They are probably close enough to the side wall but not the back wall.

I've found my subwoofers work better when they're right by the walls so that's why I use separate tripods. Well other than that my subwoofers weigh 35 lbs each being only a 12" so the top would probably fall over easily.

I found it better to run 2 different lines from mixer or controller to powered speaker reason being when i plug in the tops into the subs the entire volume u drops its better u u jump the sub to sup n let the tops feed freely from da mixer

true.. I had a debate last night with a sound engineer. He rather use 8 subs each with a single line in.. I produced a deeper sound with 4 subs running the XLRs all parallel dual in and out.. The helpers heard the difference, but he didnt want to admit it..

Hi there using a PA system with subs added would it be loud enough for larger venues?
@wadesharp11
@wadesharp11 3 года назад
Subs are essential for larger venues, especially when lots of people are there. I find the Fatter sound does make it louder and you dont have to turn up the volume as loud
@amplifythis200productions4
@amplifythis200productions4 3 года назад
Hey Kyle, Thanks for your comment. For "Large Venues" subs are very much standard for a larger setup. In saying this, Subs are always good to have for any size venue. They free up your top/mid boxes to tackle the higher frequencies and the subs handle the lower frequencies (usually below 120hz but depends on your subs). Hope this helps

is there a reason you wouldn't wanna couple the subwoofers?
@amplifythis200productions4
@amplifythis200productions4 7 лет назад
I tend to keep them linked with the top boxes. I can't see why you would want to couple the subs unless you had 2 a side
@VJCarlosAcosta
@VJCarlosAcosta 6 лет назад
hey mate, once you pair two subs together you gain the coupling effect, you gain 3dbs by doubling the power. 3 dbs for twice the surface area. 6 dbs in total when you double your subs in this maner. i guess Join the synergy was asking because of that. i prefer myself coupling the subs in the center and placing the tops in their own speaker stands, that works better for me. greeting from Valparaiso, Chile. and Good video mate!!

Hello! How would I daisy chain two powered speakers using a basic mixer? Any help is appreciated! Thank you
@sweliam1
@sweliam1 7 лет назад
DJ Kel Are you sure you want to daisy-chain them? Typically, you'd run a stereo setup with the L main output on your mixer going to your left speaker, and the R main output going to your right speaker.
@Bionic9
@Bionic9 7 лет назад
Thank you for the response. I'll definitely take that into consideration.
@amplifythis200productions4
@amplifythis200productions4 7 лет назад
As per what sweliam1 just mentioned, L main out to the left speaker and R main out to your Right. Especially with the powered setup, connecting Subs than tops is probably the easiest way and neatest way to do this. Sweliam1, why would you not daisy-chain them together?
@sweliam1
@sweliam1 7 лет назад
DJ Kel You're very welcome.
@sweliam1
@sweliam1 7 лет назад
Amplify This 200 Productions Doing so would most likely convert the rig into dual mono (since he would use only L main out or only R main out), which may not be particularly desirable if he's running a DJ setup. Fine for speech and smaller acoustic bands, as there is little to no stereo information, but prerecorded tracks have quiet a lot of stereo sounds, some even hard-panned.

We r a rock band and play in small venues with 2 LEM D-400 active tops, we'd like to add one sub to our system to get some more bass power, what would you suggest?
@amplifythis200productions4
@amplifythis200productions4 7 лет назад
Hi mate. Cool no worries at all. I am not familiar with the LEM lineup of speakers but with some research I have come up with a few solutions for you which are over a few different price brackets. Upper end of the market - Db Technologies Sub 18H - Stacks of bottom end, after hearing your bass frequencies through these you will definitely want to upgrade you tops. You will not regret the purchase on this sub. www.dbtechnologies.com/en/products/sub-series/sub-18h-p1847.aspx Mid-range - Look at your db Technologies Sub 05 D or the TurboSound Milan (which are being used in this video), Or Yamaha DXS series subs. Any of these subs will do wonders for your FOH with the band. They kick! Entry Level - Behringer Eurolive B1800X, - This is a great sub, seriously got some punch and will work great with the speakers you have. This gear always surprises me, and it is cheap perfect for working musicians. If you are located in Australia, let me know as we can assist with getting you a sub that works for you.

Depends what your bluetooth device is. If you are bluetoothing using inbuilt bluetooth with the speaker, than no, if you are using a bluetooth device like the Logitech receiver or something similar, than yes. But depends on your setup too.

Hey really cool video, what I wanted to know is what do u plug into the dj controller to connect with the sub and the speaker
@amplifythis200productions4
@amplifythis200productions4 7 лет назад
keiren T-R, Hi. It depends on what connector comes out of your controller and what connectors you have to your sub. Typically DJ controllers have RCA out, than to plug into your speakers will need to go XLR or Jack. I always recommend XLR if that's what your speakers have, as you can easily extend it to reach your speakers or you can plug direct into a multicore for bigger stage gig. Hope that helps.

Would this be ideal also for a live sound event with live band, vocals, instruments and things like that? Going from the mixer L/R straight to the subs L/R than thru to the "top speakers" ? Because currently I have the xlr from the mixer going straight to the "top speakers L/R" than going "thru" to the subs....
@amplifythis200productions4
@amplifythis200productions4 6 лет назад
Yes this is a great way to go. Most of the time Subs tend to have a built in cross-over so it takes the lower frequencies and than you can use the thru to your top box. Depending on your setup will depend if you can do it as I did in the video. Feel free to comment with more details of your setup and I am happy to check it out for you.

Would you say it is worth having subs with a band? Could I just use the top boxes and receive similar results? Or does the sub help boost the sound etc?
@amplifythis200productions4
@amplifythis200productions4 4 года назад
Hi Tobi. I would normally always recommend subs as that takes care of the lower frequencies and frees up your top boxes to handle all the Mid/High frequencies. My question to you is how big is the venue? How large is your audience? What is your lineup.... If it is only 50people and in a small room you can probably get away with no subs. Just depends on what you are trying to achieve.

Hey, i see you run the Thru out from the Sub and into the top speaker. I normally do this the other way round. Does it make any difference ?
@amplifythis200productions4
@amplifythis200productions4 8 лет назад
+Gavin Larsen, Thanks for the comment. Depends on your sub and speaker setup. Some active subs have a built in cross-over in them, so going Sub first than Top box is the way to go in that situation. The Subs input also just controls input that Sub takes, leaving the signal to the top speaker un-altered. Most top boxes, have a Mix Out on the back of them, so that can effect the signal going to the sub. (If your top box have a Thru not Mix Out that you will be ok) in saying that I would recommend going Sub than Top Box because that means only 1 signal cable is going up to the top box, looks neater and more professional. Hope this helps.

@amplifythis200productions4
@amplifythis200productions4 7 лет назад
What brand and model are your speakers? both Tops and Subs? If they are the same brand (and model range - for example Turbosound Milan Series), the built in crossover in the speakers have been designed to work together so selecting "sub" mode or frequency role off is the correct thing to do. If they are not part of the same range, find out what frequency your sub begins to work at, than crossover your top box from there.

Hi mate. Awesome questions. Where are you located too (city/town), and I can assist in directing you to the right place. What is the main use for your system? On average how many people will you be playing music too? If you get Powered Speakers you will not need an amplifier as the amplifier is built into the speaker. This is perfect for DJ like yourself using NS6 and other DJ desks. Most mid range powered speakers have built in DSP to protect the speaker and to assist in getting that sound you want.

A great advantage about having the NS6 is that you have XLR Outputs, meaning that you can plug directly into the back of any powered speaker using XLR cables, eliminating the use of adaptors from RCA to XLR

@amplifythis200productions4
@amplifythis200productions4 8 лет назад
Hi mate. Cool no worries. By looking at the specs for the Rockville speaker, to connect to a sub, you will require to take the signal from the Line Out, from the photos online it was a jack out. Now when connecting your phone, ensure they sync via bluetooth to the main speaker, You will need to link any additional speaker from the line out. If you are only linking 2 speakers together that is fine. But if you want a reliable sound source I would get yourself a nice little mixing desk, connect L&R to your speakers via a cable and plug your phone directly in via the headphone jack. easy, simple, reliable audio. Hope this helps
