Very well said architect..Malungkot nga lang dito sa atin ay dahil ang tingin ng client natin ay puro deawing lang ang ginagawa natin..Kaya tuloy ay hindi tayo nacocompensate ng mga maayos.Dahil may mga non RLA student engineers ay naniningil ng PF na may mababa kaysa sa dapat nating matanggap ay may mababa o minsan nagiging TY pa lang..

Sa doctor na registered and licensed o sa hindi? 😁 Let us push the non-licensed ones to take the board exam and pass it like all the rest. Ang board exam ang parang last chapter o ang ikukumpleto ng pagiging isang legit na Architect... Papayag ka ba na hindi tapusin ang pelikulang nagustuhan mo kung yun ang dahilan bakit mo sya pinanood in the 1st place. Let us all uplift this profession similar to how other countries do it. Hello Mhel Caraig, Sa buhay naman talaga ay walang madali. Pero kung ito ay passion mo, sundin mo lang. Kasi lahat naman ay masarap kapag alam mong bunga ito ng iyong paghihirap... Bata pa ako, gusto ko na talaga maging arkitekto dahil sa aking Tito (na parang parating may pera) at sa aking tatay na frustrated architect (Civil Engineer nga pala siya). Bata pa lang ako, mahusay na ako mag-drawing at sabi nila, kaya pinush ko ang BS Architecture kasi feeling ko ito talaga ang tadhana ko.
Ito pala yung sagot sa tanong ko last time sir na phase by phase sa pagtayo ng bahay. Sasabihin ko may provision na for 2nd and 3rd flrs. Yun ata yung abang, provision. Hehehe!
Me and my wife learned a lot from your vlogs. We're hoping you can answer my question or maybe this can be one of your content in the future. "Price-wise, what's the difference between a bungalow 3BR and 2 1/2 toilet/bath versus a 2 level house with the same 3BR and 2 1/2 toilet/bath?" We have a hard time deciding because our big consideration is the budget. So we're leaning towards building a bungalow type for budget reasons. Our dream home is to have a bigger living space, bigger kitchen, 1 room on the first floor and the rest of the 2 rooms on the 2nd floor and I'm afraid that it will be a big difference in the cost when building a 2 storey house. One dilemma is our lot is narrow too (8 meters wide and 14 meters in length). It might be too much for the question but I'll give it a try anyway. This could be a great help before we decide on the pre-design phase and look for an architect here in Iloilo City. I hope you can notice my comment. Keep it up, Arch. Karlo!
Hello Silru Machir. The difference between a bungalow and a 2-level or any multi-level structure would always be its structural components. Bungalows take less structural members to build and fabricate which generally takes less budget and material costs. But, bungalows given the space requirements you prefer will take up most of the lot. So you will have less open spaces which is also vital in ventilation. In my opinion, if you plan on expanding your bungalow vertically in the future, this would mean that you would have to beef up the structural supports to hold a 2nd floor. So might as well, build a 2nd storey house already. It would always be up to you to decide. Budget will be earned back. But the structure of the house is also important. 🙂

Set small goals that would one day lead you to your main goal... life is this field will be filled with challenges, but I'm telling you now that nothing in life is easy (whichever course you take) although if you make everyday a day worth living where you learn new things... it would be exciting and you would ignore the hardships.

Hello. There is no specific gauge or timeline in one person's ability to create or in this case, finish a design. Every person has his/her own style and way of approaching a design problem and how he/she will complete it. An architect's design skill will also depend on his collective experience in designing. 😊

Pwede ba kyo gumuwa ng video if meron 168 sqm n property tapos ang bahay 100 sqm flr area 2 storey house ano mas ok na position ang bahay sa gitna ng 168 sqm or sa gilid? Ano ang advantage at disAdvantage po. In your own personal opinion ano mas recommend ninyo po Salamat
Advantage ng nasa gitna ng property ang bahay at hindi nakadikit sa edge ng property line is shempre ang safety and security sa sunog and other elements na pwedeng maka-damage ng bahay.
Ok lang naman ang southwest window. Depende din po kasi yan sa location or orientation ng bahay nyo sa lupang kinatatayuan nito. Ideally po talaga, east facing windows ang maganda para naka-harap ito sa unang sikat ng araw. Either way, windows espcially if they are tall windows gives that advantage of natural light giving your house... good vibes. 😊

Hello Atty. Bong, I am ok with using new technologies like these. Its a good thing that the Philippines has been upgrading to newer construction materials and systems. EPS panels are good for sound and thermal insulation, eco-friendly, easier to install than the usual CHB, fire resistant, etc. I have a client who prefers this kind of system as well.
Since I followed and listened to Arch. Karlo, I am learning a lot! Although I already have houses, it would have been better if I've known him earlier.

Hello John Philip, Sad to say na may mga kababayan tayo na hindi aware sa ganyang patakaran ng gobyerno. Lalo sa mga liblib na prosbinsya. Pero sa mga nakikita ko ngayon, madaming municipalities na ang gumagawa nito for strict compliance. Building permits are not just permits to build. It is submitted to the office of the building official in your municipality or cityhall to check/validate if the design of your house is compliant o sumusunod sa National Building Code. Ang National Building Code ay batas na ginawa upang magkaroon ng standard practice sa pagdedesign ng bahay. Parang protection nyo na din ito na ang bahay nyo ay maaliwalas nyong matitirahan, protektado sa sunog, matibay ang structural supports at madami pang ibang kino-consider para masiguradong ligtas at maayos ang inyong magiging bahay

Hello Mam Janeth, Wala naman po mashadong significant cost appreciation sa split-level design. Kasi it is relatively computed per scope of work and/or per square meter. So for example, if the split level will increase your floor area then it will add cost sa construction mo pero hindi dahil sa mag-split level ka. Pero structurally speaking and for drafting purposes, it will be easier to draw and design both Architecturally and Structurally if it were the usual multi-level, stacked storey type of design. 😁 Pero if you want the split level type... I'm ok with it. 😊 When it comes to the utilization of spaces. An architect can carefully plan your house according to your current and future requirements. You just need to inform your space requirements to the architect so that he can plan it accordingly. Pero personally, thinking about proper space utilization... it is not with the size of the house but more on the user. Especially we Filipinos we have a mindset of the more the merrier so kapag may space pa na nakikita... sasalpakan pa ng gamit. Hanggat may space na bakante... pupunuin at pupunuin ng gamit. You may consider that as maximizing the space pero if not properly organized... it can also be considered as NOT utilizing the space properly. In short (sorry mahaba talaga ako mag explain minsan); plan your house with your architect, according to your desired spaces or room requirements. Follow the architect's plan, layout and advice on how to properly utilize the space (kasi shempre si Architect pag nag visualize yan hindi naman makalat at magulo ang nasa utak nya na perspective). Stick to the plan para utilized ng maayos ang bahay. 😊
Can an architect determine if the house is amenable to add floor.. We have some bakal in the ceiling..Hopefully the house is design with provision sa second floor plan kasi namin
Yung magpapagawa po kasi sila po ang gustong magkabahay hindi si Architect. 😁 May mga pipirmahan lang po sina Design Architect at ang mga Design Engineers sa ilang dokumento ng building permit forms para ma-process ito. Kung kayo po ay kukuha ng contractor, madalas ang building permit application ay kasama na sa kanila service. Linawin lang ito sa kanila. Iba naman po ang Architect sa Contractor. Ang Architect po ay ang taga-design. Ang Contractor po ay magtatayo ng dinesign nila Architect. Meron pong Architect na ang negosyo nya ay maging construction din.

Hello Marites, Depende yan sa Architect nyo at sa laki o liit ng project nyo. Masmainam na alamin nyo yan sa kukuhanin nyong Architect pag nagkataon. All projects / consultants and contractors have different execution preparations and procedures. That's why the production period may vary per project.
Kung ang renovation works mo ay considered major. Like expanding your house pahaba or pataas... kelangan itong iapply ng Building Permit sa Office of the Building Official. Kung interior renovation lang siya with minor works like painting and carpentry works. No need. Pero you still need to check with your subdivision kung kelangan mag-apply ng renovation permit. Some subdivisions require permits even for minor renovation works due to the dust and smell of paint.

😄 Ok lang yun, JR. Matagal din akong nagstay sa Singapore, British Standards din sila. Normally ginagawa nila yung ganun kapag multi-storey yung structure para pwede nila tanggalin ang 13th floor or sa mga Chinese naman 4th floor ang wala. Dito sa Pinas, lalo sa mga bahay. Ok lang na Ground Floor tapos 2nd Floor na ang next. 😊 Usually 2 Storeys lang din kasi ang mga bahay. So dun sa question mo... ok lang talaga kung gamun ang flow ng bahay nyo kung yun talaga ang request nyo. May mga bahay nga na banyo ang isa sa mga nasa harapan. So more on your preference talaga as the clieny and the user. 😊
Yes. Same standards apply. Basta kumpleto at malinaw. Very seldom na lang din siguro ang nagsa-submit ng manually drafted drawings for building permit. Time consuming din siya sa production.
Hello Allreyan, May magagawa na yang budget na yan. Limitado ka lang sa pwede mong ilagay sa bahay mo kabilang na ang size ng magiging bahay. Kaya plahuhin niyo ito ng mabuti ni Architect mo at hindi pwede ang padalos-dalos o pa-chamba-chamba kasi yun ang masmagastos. Mahalaga na may sinusundang design. Parang sa pagmamaneho yan... Kung di mo alam ang pupuntahan mo at wala kang mapa... Maliligaw ka. At sa bawat maling daan, gagastos ka sa gasolina. Pero kung may mapang sinusundan, kahit na sa limitadong budget magagawan ng paraan para makarating sa patutunguhan. 👍
In this pandemic, either you send your architect the topographic map/plan kasi he will also need this if the lot is not flat. And also some pictures of the lot will do. 😊

Hi Ms. Grace, The topographic map is where you can see the waves of the land from the top view. Those waves represent the curves of the lot and its elevation and shape. The vicinity map naman po is just the general map and yes it goes together with the land title. Usually the topographic map is done and produced by a Geodetic Engineer whenever they survey the land. But if there are not much elevation changes in your lot... and if you think that it's generally flat (your lot) then photos of the lot will do. Anyway, your architect gets to assess the lot based on the photos you send him/her. And he/she will be the one to request it if needed. So you may just send the photos first. :)
