Haha just in case someone is wondering, that line is straight from vanilla. The way I read this is that you can hug a lion you helped raise (we've all seen the YT videos), but one day the lion might give in to his instincts and decide you're food, not a friend, and instead of paws and a hug you'll find claws at your neck. Who can say why or what goes on in the head of the animal at that moment. Is it the Lion's fault for _betraying_ you, or is it the human's fault for forgetting that friendly or not, you're hugging one of the most dangerous predators to exist, a literal killing machine specialised and programmed to hunt and eat smaller mammals like yourself. You might take the risk yourself, but when we're talking about the fate of humanity...
@@JaySerpa This line is what made me trust in Paarthurnax. He doesn't shy away from his nature. It's something he battles with and makes sure you know it too.
@@JaySerpa : True, but percentage-wise, how often does a human do that to another human too? I wonder if there is even a big difference. It's not something I've ever thought to fact check.
@@JaySerpayeah humans have a problem with projecting their own humanity on to anything outside of them. So in context of this the dragons could well easilu give in to their instincts but this reality could be overlooked by the dovakhin
@@JaySerpa but like, doesn't it say something more like "You foolish mortal, i'm the dragonborn" at least from the translations i've tried to do i didn't find what balnur means but mey means fool, joor means mortal, zu'u means I, and Dovahkiin obviously kin of the dragons or dragonborn

Esbern and Karen need to calm tf down. Since before the Oblivion Crisis the Blades were simply the protectors of the Septim Emperors. They haven't fought dragons in millenia. I am Dragonborn, you make the sandwiches.
Sandwich blades .. it all makes sense now! I actually found the original quest so funny usually ignore it. The unskilled Ulfric shouted the high king to death and then the Blades want to storm a mountain with monks that practice shouting every day.
Well... Paarthurnax *does* warn you when you first meet him that the Blades only serve themselves and are using you as a pawn. You can choose not to believe him, but he does so much for you (and Skyrim as a whole) that it doesn't feel right to turn on him.
Always hated that you had to kill him or not, should've Always been a hard speech check to convince her, Paarthurnax changed sides to help humanity and betrayed all the other dragons. He's been loyal to humans ever since.
Fuck them there's no point in killing Paarthrunax. If you do you get a stupid radiant quest where you hunt down random dragon BFD. Paarthrunax is a good boi.
"In thousands of years parthurnax could turn evil and you would be dead from old age". THAT is the point where I turn around and say "Serana could turn me into an immortal vampire, if you're certain of what you just said then guess where I'm headed next you idiots"
There was similar mod to this (I think) where Dragonborn could just intimidate Karen-Delphine and asbestos-Esbern by using similar shouts like other Greybards do that makes mountains tremble.
I love the way you made it so he sounds like he is enjoying the fight with you kinda going back to his nature as he fights you and also taunts you a little bit really cool definitely gonna download the mod to keep my boi alive

I only tried killing Brother P once to do the Blades questline. It felt so wrong. But here, his last words break my heart. Wonderful mod! Rinik Pruzah, Fahdon. Very good, friend. You are Hun, Hero!
You know, after watching a bunch of videos about how to get around killing Paarthurnax, it occurs to me: I don't WANT these assholes on my side, even if there were any benefits to doing what they ask, and there really aren't any. Only course that makes sense is killing them off and restarting the Blades with people who will ACTUALLY serve the will of the Dragonborn. Screw these people. If there's a mod that does that, I'll install it TODAY.

Delphine: "He commited atrocities so infamous they are still remebered, thousands of years later." DB: remembered by who you xenophobic swine, I have traveled the entirety of skyrim and I've never heard anyone utter his name in spite.
See the difference between the Blades and the Dragons when you chose to side against them is the reason I would favor the Dragons. The dragons do not seem to hold the decision against you, nor argue it. They respect it and choose to ENJOY one final battle against you before you kill them. Meanwhile the Blades who aren't even the ones with death looming over their heads seem defiant up until you pull rank on them. They do not respect your decision, only their oath to serve keeps them in line. Stubbornness right up to the end.
Every blade dulls and every shield breaks eventually. It's not a matter of if Paarthurnax one day gives into his evil nature, but of WHEN. Esbern is right, there is no choice here.
How did you get the voice lines so smooth? Very impressive, especially Paarthurnax. Were all of these lines already available in some form or were you splicing sounds to make words?
This is so well made. The way you patched vanilla lines seamlessly is amazing. I know a lot of players talk about Paarthurnax like he's a harmless cuddly bear but you really make us know how dangerous he is and bring out the moral dilemma in the choice in a way I wish Bethesda had originally done. It couldn't have been done better without new lines from the OG actors!

So satisfying to see Delfine put in her place lol she wanted to be a blade and tried taking leadership even if she didn’t realize it like the video said she serves Dragonborn way I saw it was f her she can quit anytime doesn’t have to serve haha
Hi new skyrim player here. I thought after beating Alduin the blades would see that parthanax was chill, and also one huge part of how we were able to beat Alduin, but no. If they want him dead, they gotta throw hands themselves
The fact that he says that paarthunax may turn on us in a thousand years and no one can stop him cause we are dead but I think he forgets we can become a vampire which is immortal
Well but if you are realistic Esbern actually made good points indeed. You can't know if he betrays you or not and if he does the World is done for. It would definitely rationally speaking be better for the World to kill him but well, we are players. What do we care about the World in millenials? It's not playable anyways 😆
Also, who's to say that Akatosh won't create another dragonborn for if that time came, unless there's something in the lore about us being the very last one.

This is the curse of the Dragonborn, being sent off by sycophants to do their dirty work, no respect or admiration for this walking legend. This is arguably why so many good men turn bad, and bad men turn good. With a world such as elders scrolls, it’s clear that nobody can handle real power, and those who wield it, are shunned. Poor Paarthurnaax, every day is spent watching his life fade away, to be forgotten and unremembered by Tamerelic history. What does the world do? Hate him, despise him, simply because he is a natural destroyer, but that’s where the people of Tamerial have it all wrong. When someone has the capability and mindset for violence, yet chooses transcendence; that’s a HERO🐉!
Paarthurnax speaks to you as an equal. The blades talk to you like you're a disposable tool. I wish they'd have made the vanilla game give you these options since delphine and esbern up to this point non stop about SERVING the dragonborn.
According to the lore Paarthurnax is a monster and only changed sides to save his ass. He wasn't the only dragon to leave Alduin but he was the only one commanded to by a god. While the blades are a relic of the past and a shadow of their former power Delphine being annoying isn't a reason to kill her while Paarthurnax has many good reason to kill him and no real good ones to keep him alive.
Esbern makes a good point that after thousands of years, while the dragonborn would have died long ago paarthurnax and his allies could potentially change their ways. The flaw in this logic is that only a few dragons wouldn't have any significant power and would be able to be killed by men. Sure they wouldn't have the ability to consume the soul of a dragon but without alduin dragons wouldn't be able to be resurrected.
Honestly this is the whole plothole with the blades. They serve you as the dragon born and not just some kingdom or the people. If they swore to protect people from dragons and not serve anyone in particular, it would be one thing. xD
One mod idea I think people would like: The Blades Reborn - Delphine & Esbern tell you no like they do in normal game, however they lose their essential tags and now you can tell them "then you leave me no choice. You have disgraced yourselves! The Blades SERVE the Septims who were Dragonborn, making me the one you serve and you have betrayed your oaths. I will restart the Blades myself, without either of you." They both respond "What are you saying? We are the last of the Blades!" You: "You are not the last, cause you never were Blades, you are oath breakers, disgraced, and now it falls to me to exercise my judgment; Your executions!" They die, now you get a new quest, "The Blades Reborn" which involves you recruiting new members. After you have recruited at least 5 members, you will then tell them to recruit more likeminded members. Then a new quest "The Blades Reborn Part 2" which involves you going to the Greybeards, telling them that the old Blades are no more, and in its place is new Blades Order, and you have a request for the Greybeards: "Join with me. Together we can ensure that people like Delphine will never threaten our good friend Paarthurnax ever again." Now they are no longer rivals or enemies due to differing views, but united and stronger together. Quest complete and eventually some Blades members will be at the Greybeard's place, protecting them while also learning of the real history and the importance of the Way of the Thu'um. Why this route? It feels way more satisfying, Esbern was possibly the only "likeable" character whereas Delphine was understandably the most hated. However they are the remnants of the old Blades and they betrayed their oaths and didn't seem to care. If the Blades were at full power, their disgrace and execution would have been carried out by their own. Plus with this, the Blades are reborn into a better organization with greater understanding without the poison of the disgraced polluting the new generations. Sure, shutting them down is cool, but honestly, whose to say that Delphine an Esbern wont try to find another way to take down Paarthurnax and the Greybeards? This imo is the better outcome for both organizations.
Delphine: YOU MUST KILL HIM!!!! Dragonborn: But not until he's dead, right?? Delphine: ... ... ... Dragonborn: I mean, just kill him a little, but not 'til he's dead - that would be rude!
Delphine makes a good point. Paarthurnaax IS a war criminal, he even admits to as much. But, frankly speaking, so is the Dragonborn. So is Delphine and Esbern. So are the Blades in general. Do they all deserve death? Is there truly no room for forgiveness and faith? Or is it bigotry against dragons? Is it, perhaps, Delphine and Esbern's point of view are skewed because it's their group who were victimized so long ago? They are justified in their hatred, but so are all of the groups they have hurt in turn. We can either choose to continue the cycle of hatred, or we can say enough and try and build something better.
I think I will be downloading this - nice job on the dialogue. (I try to get outside near the edge of a cliff before Dur-phine give me the ultimatum, so I can Fus Roh Dah her ass off the mountain. Then I pretend she died and never go back to the Blades Sanctuary. I've long since looted it by then anyways.)
You know if Bethesda wanted to end Paarthurnax they could of just created where he dies by his brother Alduin, because of him sacrificing himself for the Dragonborn. Instead of the dragonborn being made to kill him. It would have made a sad story, and at the same time would have been better than the blades telling Dragonborn to kill him. At least it would have given him a better ending for Paarthurnax. Not only would he have died for his crimes, but he would have died saving the Dragonborn, and when the Dragonborn goes to face Alduin in the final fight. They could of had Paathurnax appear at the end with the warriors before he gets cast back into his own world and given a shout to call the warriors and Paarthurnax in his time of need.
this mod seems amazing. its always irritated me that the Dragonborn, the supposed central figure of the Blades aside from the Emperor, cant simply say "yeah no he lives"
Nicely done, fixed the stupid quest (i think there are no skyrim players that would not be irritated about Karen the Demanding). I would really die of a surprise if i saw one main quest from Bethesda not ending like cut-down story for a 3year old (i bet i won't since they're improving their level of a "suck" skill).
I wish this wasn’t a Mod because i seriously hate being forced to kill him and not being able to convince Delphine and Esbern to spare him. Whoever made this mission needs to be fired from Bethesda.
When I do main quest I simply walk through the embassy and kill everything in under a minute, ignoring everything. having to babysit delphine while walking to the dragon burial mound and going there are the only times you really need to deal with that brainlet, you can ignore everything else she mumbles about in the background. After doing a playthrough recently I saw her and esbern walk into the council held by greybeards and I was honestly wondering who the f told them about it since it sure as hell wasn't me with me 2 lines of dialogue for them in order to progress the quest beyond their boring drivel
