Fun fact. The huntsman center was host to the 1979 national championship game. Larry Bird and Indiana state university against Magic Johnson and Michigan state. To this day it's one of the most watched college basketball games ever. And it been called the game that saved college basketball.
It's impossible for me to see the Ducks' court design without associating it with camping in Oregon. Very pleasant memories of looking up at the stars on Mt. Hood. And that artwork is exactly what the local forest looks like.
The Huntsman Center at University of Utah was the site of the first ever matchup between Magic Johnson and Larry Bird - the 1979 NCAA championship game.
Selfish question: Would you ever consider doing videos on the college hockey arenas? Smaller sport, much smaller, but there's some absolute gems in there, especially in the ECAC. Go look up Ingalls Rink at Yale if you're unfamiliar.
Even as an Arizona State fan I have to say Desert Financial Arena lags behind those of the LA schools, Oregon, Washington, and even our hated rival in Tucson. Badly in need of a facelift and upgrades
I go to WSU and drive by Beasley every day. The top has Go Cougs because it’s on the flight path into Pullman. Also, simply painting the tops of the exterior Crimson would look so much better than the brown that currently is there
While there isn't a PAC12 hockey league, the Arizona Wildcats and Arizona State Sun Devils both are part of the ACHA. The Wildcats used to be the IceCats back in the day and were a club team.
Besides the court, the Matthew Knight Arena has an awesome seating tier layout. Pretty sure it's a strong influence on the LA Clippers tier layout for their new arena. Its intimate and intimidating.
Wow, that Oregon court is one of the ugliest things I've ever seen at a sporting event. It should've just been the sideline between each three point line. It looks like a giant threw up in the middle the way it currently is.
Curiousity led me to look up the flooring @ Maples Pavilion. Like most top-level basketball arenas, maple wood is indeed used for the court. Very fitting.
Love your videos. Have you considered making a video of all the NCAA tournament arenas this year? The tournament starts next week and might make for some interesting content.
Very good video, man. I hope you can make a video of the stadiums of the Mexican Baseball League teams where they will play in this year 2022, please. 🙏🏽😇
With the NCAA men’s basketball tournament coming up, you could do a video on all the arenas/stadiums that are going to be hosting games. Could do them for the women’s tournament too
To clarify, basketball will remain at the Desert Financial Center. Wrestling and gymnastics will share the hockey arena with the Sun Devils hockey team and for a couple of years (at least) the NHL Coyotes.
It’s really a trip about how symmetrical it appears… but it’s not. This is all for historical reasons. Yet I still think we’ve lost something in Eugene by replacing MacArthur Court. That was one of a kind.
2:55 Not to spread negativity, but the roof design on Colorado's arena looks a lot like a certain symbol.... Great video, great timing ahead of March Madness
Huntsman the last name of a super rich philanthropist in Utah, and he donated a bunch of money to the university which is why the arena is named after him.
@@chipperw Thanks for the info . I only wanted to say about the word hunter and the possible meaning with huntsman the word and not with the last name I apologize if there was a misunderstanding
