@@yannahvale99, actually I take that back about Joey and Pacey. You know it’s probably a tie between Kevin and Winnie and Cory and Topanga. And best TV adult couple is Dwayne and Whitley of A Different World. In the 90s, nobody had better chemistry than them.
They never really hated each other from the second they met he clearly thought she was beautiful and very clever, sweet and kind he always wanted her I think.
@lisashakesby i like to see it that way also.. i like to see it that way also, that he was attracted for a long time (consciously since this episode).)not from the second they met- becos it seems they knew each other since childhood-- but that, like any folks who grow up in a small town, knowing each other through school, other friends, geography and parents... feelings grow and evolve as the kids themselves grow and evolve. i think right around when these two started hitting puberty and their teens, that banter and teasing probably began growing between them and attractions were forming unbeknown to them~!😁😍
@@hellund2874 i like this explanation. i have had that kinda thing with a couple guys in my life... now i look back on it😄 If the show direction did this on purpose thru those early seasons, then it is a really good subtle move
How did "My two best friends kissing, what could be better than that?" turn into "you can't have him as your boyfriend and me as your consolation prize, you're going to have to choose"
I've been shipping Joey and Pacey since season 1, especially after they became lab partners. I thought that loveline would develop especially since Pacey became smitten with Joey by the end of that ep. But I'm glad the writers came to their senses and realized there was something gold in putting Pacey and Joey together. It was the right decision and the development of their relationship was oh so beautifully written in s3.
I've watched a lot of Joey and Pacey videos and this one is GREAT! Everyone always posts the same clips. It's nice seeing the buildup up to all of it for once!
hey to each their own but i would say that you're missing out :) and unfortunately aside from the severe lack of chemistry, dawson and joey treated each other too horribly (and i mean dawson) -- my two cents
I never thought Dawson and Joey made sense. Pacey and Joey had that sexual tension between them. That’s what that bickering was all about. Now Dawson and Jen made perfect sense. He was into her the moment he saw her.
they always had a connection it was very obvious I refuse to believe that Dawson and Joey ever had a single ounce of chemistry compared to Pacey and Joey. It was always very clear, even in season 1! Keep doing these compilations please :)
I just knew from the first episode they would be perfect together. It's happened on shows before but the connection is there, always has been always will be
@@Choni4life923 like I remember when Pacey first kissed Joey in season 1, I knew that the creators of the shows weren’t just going to leave it there and they would bring back P+J in the future. It made me want start rooting for them throughout the whole show
@@Choni4life923 omg I know ! I kid you not, I’ve never watched a show where the characters could make me blush lol. All of the little moments between Pacey and joey would make me smile like a total idiot ! I swear, their chemistry radiated through my screen
The fact that in season one he found her attractive drenched in swamp water, and Dawson didn’t think she was pretty until she was all dolled up for the pageant- it speaks VOLUMES!
ooooh yes, never thought about that difference before! that does speak a whole lot, right there. i love what the creator's and writers gave pacey's character, and how they wrote him. i am so stoked they did!
Yes exactly! Dawson only became attracted to Joey when she was fully dolled up in hair and makeup. Pacey fell for her that day at the creek when she’s dirty, wet and wrapped in an oversized blanket. He even asks Dawson’s permission to ask her out later. That’s how serious he was about dating her, but they were both too immature at 15. Joey eventually outgrew her Dawson crush, even if she tried to cling to it at times for emotional security, and Pacey’s relationship with Andie felt almost like a trial run before what he had with Joey. He needed to go through that relationship to grow as a person and realize what was in front of him.
Knowing that Kevin Williamson had Dawson and Joey as endgame from the beginning (creator and writer of the first two seasons) but gave us all these moments is so baffling to me. The sexual tension is clearly there. The new direction the show took in season three by using Joey and Pacey's banter and sweet moments as a slow burn to more was brilliant. Season 3 is the best season.
right it confused me too… so he wanted people to root for joey and dawson but made dawson entirely obnoxious and an insanely bad partner/friend… then he presented us with this kind of dynamic for pacey and joey from the beginning and they also have incredible chemistry on top of that?? like of course people would ship paceyjoey 😭 agree with u on s3 i love it too!
He couldn't have foreseen that Katie and Joshua would fall in love IRL. Auditions were only so long. Perhaps their chemistry grew rapidly after they were cast.
yess but i still never got why dawson’s lines were so cringy, misogynistic, pretentious etc etc like literally from the pilot 😭 like kevin do you want people to like your main character? i guess not lmao
@@claricesilva2700yeah I think she knew the minute he kissed her by the side of the road. Honestly her feelings for him were so strong, she nearly gave up her friendship with Dawson over it. That’s saying something!
Like he was tryna gatekeep Joey but he was allowed to go and get with other girls? Not to mention he was in love with a certain vision he had of joey, rather than what their literal relationship would be like.
1:02 haha. I can't believe you did this. I was expecting that someone would put the two scenes together cause i find her words hilarious, especially when she says he is unkiss-worthy. I just love her words choice in both seasons cause it makes them a much better fit, idk,it feels well-written,besides the fact that it's a proof of how her feelings towards him changed...a lot lol.
ahahah yeah that scene where joey said he's so unkissworthy is so funny knowing what happens... their change from being frenemies to being in love always gets me everytime
@@lindleiy But thank God the writers did that. The show would be horrible if they had continued with her love for Dawson. I could barely take their friendship😄
@@lindleiy When i watched the show i already knew Joey and Pacey would end up together cause i fell in love with them first, way before i watched the show,so the only reason i could watch Dawson and Joey moments was because i knew they weren't gonna be endgame,i knew the best was coming,so i took everything in the best way i could cause i knew it was gonna be worth it,but man, most of Dawson's plots were annoying, especially when it came to Joey.
my mom was so obsessed with dawson's creek when it was airing that i remember she wanted to name me after joey lol (and i was born the year the show started), it took me YEARS to finally watch it and god i totally get what she saw in pacey and joey AND THEIR DYNAMIC AND ARC bc god they are just sooo good together and dawson never stood a chance lol
Yep, they both have kids now! Katie Holmes married Tom Cruise a few short years after Dawson's wrapped up; they've since split, but they have a 15 year old daughter together. And Joshua Jackson married the GORGEOUS actress Jodie Turner-Smith and they have a young little girl too, she's a year or two old. :)
Pretty sure Katie Holmes and Joshua Jackson were dating IRL during season 1 which would explain a lot of the natural chemistry. Always loved Joey and Pacey together. ❤️
I just finished watching the whole show again about a month ago, and I already miss these two. RU-vid always recommends these compilations at the best times! Thanks for posting. 💙
Oh I'm getting so nostalgic, from a simpler time. I should really do a rewatch of this. I haven't seen this since I was 15. EDIT: I has completely forgotten the humour in this.
depends on your region, some countries’ netflix still has it but it’s not available anymore in the US i think. i’ve heard people say they have it on hulu or hbo max!
