I'm SO GLAD she's reprising her role as Abuela in the movie!

I’m gonna flat out say this and I don’t care what anyone thinks: Olga Merediz should’ve won the fucking Tony! She brought the damn house down with her performance as Abuela Claudia and kept it 100 with every show

The story of Abuela, from her winning the lottery ticket to her death, always sticks with me, because her story is the story of my Grandparents who also came over from Cuba. This whole musical makes me smile cause i relate with a lot of the characters!

This musical is so important.

That was the greatest most authentic performance I've ever watched.

I just had to come back and watch this after seeing the movie tonight, because dear GOD, this performance, this song, the lyrics, it all holds so much power. I was bawling in the theater and here watching this video.

THE FACT THAT I AM PLAYING ABUELA IN A HIGH SCHOOL PRODUCTION MAKES ME HAPPY

And she’s the only original cast to be in the movie in the heights , no once can replace that voice

She's amazing, and my favorite thing is when she sings "What do I do with this winning ticket?" and the audience GASPS. The exact same thing happened at the production of this show that I saw in Chicago!

If you’ve seen the movie, this song appears at a different time and makes every word Abuela sings so much more heart wrenching. And it was done so beautifully too in how she transports us between the subway and arriving from Cuba.

“Ay mamá, what do you do when you’re dreams come true?” That line gets me everytime I hear it, I just cry when I hear it, and I swear, the day of my graduation I will say that.

Came back to say she still destroys this song almost 13 years later. Her performance in the movie was stunning, she’s still got it!!

Everytime she pulls out the lottery tickets and says “what do I do with this winning ticket?” I cry every time I have no idea why but I think it reminds me of my grandma when she would always play the lottery am I the only one who gets ready eyed?

What I love most about this performance is her mannerisms and how they truly reflect her character.

She needs an Oscar for her role and this song is so powerful in the heights. I felt that pain when she walked. The pain in the feet.

This is my favorite song in ITH. I just love how we see how hard her mom worked for her and her following her footsteps. It's just so touching and it moves me to tears. Also in 2:20, she so sounds like Eliza in "Burn".

This sort of slaps way harder than the movie sound wise. I loved the movie, but man her singing here is made such much better by the acoustics.

It’s crazy how “In the heights” and “Hamilton” both have gasps that pulls at your heartstrings. In “Hamilton” the gasp comes from Eliza at the very end. But I’m “In The Heights” the gasp comes from the audience.

I loved her on stage and in the film. We Latinos know these wise, older women who are the core of strength for our families.

My Favourite In The Heights song and possibly my favourite song written by Lin Manuel Miranda, Olga Merediz is honestly one of the most talented women!

I've been listening tp this song a lot recently after discovering Lin Manuel Miranda and his broadway work...the line "And now I'm wide awake, a million years too late" really hits hard. Only now, before she passes away, does she see everything. And the fact her mom's dreams became hers, and she "inherited" the dreams, phrasing it like that made it sound so poetic. Abuela Claudia will forever be my favorite In The Heights character for this song alone.

After watching the movie, Olga Merediz was THE PERFECT CHOICE. She IS Abuela Claudia.

On the Movie Trailer, when she is walking through a tunel and there's a row of fine vintage dressed people. I will cry the second Usnavy says Pathience and Faith. Have survived AIDS 4 times and inmigrated myself 10 years to look after a dream... a dream I accomplished having dance for over 3000 persons publics and gotten standing ovations. I shared this video ober 10 years ago, and everytime I missed home I set this tune loud and cried and danced to it in my apartment... I flied back successful and accomplished to my very own Vibora. Abuela Claudia is the view of those who don't. Same struggle, different result. So grateful it's not been torndown due to you know who. Here after watching the #InTheHeights movie trailer, and happy to see that the actress (Olga Merediz) who played abuela in the stage musical is doing it in the movie.

I'm predicting it now. She will be nominated for Best Supporting Actress in 2022 Oscars and she will win!

Honestly this is my favorite song from the whole musical, it is so filled with emotion and Olga Merediz is just incredible, I'm so glad she reprised her role in the movie! (haven't seen it yet, but I'm so hyped for it!)

Out of all the Broadway shows I've seen, this number ranks as one of the most chilling and brilliant shop stoppers I've ever seen. This woman deserves some kind of life time achievement for how she performed this.

I first saw this video about three years ago and I fell in love with Abuela Claudia. Three days ago I was told I'm actually playing her in my University's production of In The Heights and I'm so thrilled and honored. I just hope to do it at least half as well as Olga Merediz does it.

It was this song that made me really miss my grandparents that are based in the US that came from the Philippines.
