Ugh I stupidly assumed it would be 60fps because it's a “PS5” game and the graphics are kind of low. Didn't do my research (didn’t think I had to). Like it or not I'm spoiled by 60 fps and cannot go less. I like the concept of the game and even though the controls are wonky, really the entire UI feels like a PC afterthought, I want to like this game. If I could easily refund this game I would. I hope they update it. Edit/update: I played and freaking loved this game. It was pretty shady of the devs to make us think it was a 60fps game, I won't deny. But I still played it and loved every minute.
You should definitely be able to get a refund if you speak to a rep. I heard others were able to by arguing that the devs did not specify before people pre-ordered that it wasn't going to be 60fps, and it doesn't even run at a stable 30fps either. The performance is not up to par. Honestly it's suspect that the devs didn't clarify the frame rate when people expect 60fps for a ps5 title. It's probably why they only had a demo for the PC version as well.
@@morganmariex thanks for the reply. To go off on a tangent: we should be able to return digital video games just as easily as we can buy them. The entire situation is whack, we shouldn’t have to call and plead. Frankly it should be a legal issue. Obviously there should be some boundaries, like only for 72 hours or something. I've bought too many games and found out inside of 2 or 3 hours of gameplay it's not for me. /rant
@Bidness Oh I absolutely agree. I despise that Playstation's refund policy is that you can only get one if your game hasn't been downloaded, which NEVER happens. It should at least be somewhat similar to steam. A 2 hour play limit and a 7-14 day refund request period. I've had the same thing happen where sometimes it's the full $60-$70 and 2 hours in I can already tell it's not going to hold my interest. Or there's too many technical problems with the game. It all comes down to corporate greed on their end.
@@morganmariex 3 days later update: I freaking love this game lol. I got past the low FPS and just played it and, even though it feels sludgy compared to the 60fps games I'm spoiled by, this is a fantastic game and I can't get enough! 😂
@@Nunya.Bidness I might give it a try then! I just know when I switch to 30fps mode on FF7 Rebirth recently, there looked to be some screen tearing. I don't know if that's because my TV is kind of big at 75". So maybe it exaggerates the lower frame rate issue with such a large screen. I might take the chance though and still try the game!
Does it make the VRR threshold or is this 30fps? I haven’t played it yet but I can say that on PS5 and XSX any game that hits the VRR threshold is gravy (so long as you have VRR!) (though the threshold for VRR is higher on PS5 is a bit higher than XSX for some reason) That or games with a 40fps/120hz mode are buttery. In those 2 scenarios you will not get the framey effect when you pan left and right that I’m seeing in this video and in a “blind” test most will believe it’s 60fps. Also if you have a fancy HDMI 2.1 TV then you’ll have a fancy 30fps game smoothing mode but that requires nice, even frame pacing. ACG played it on a 4090 equipped PC and it was surprisingly only just good when I might have expected over 200fps from such a monster rig especially when the game has an art style with such low detail textures.
It does not hit the VRR requirement on PS5 often, VRR drops out on anything below 47 fps and this is often in the 45fps mark (feels like). It does hit it sometimes and it's very nice when it does, hopefully a patch bumps it closer to a consistent 50. I think the crux of the issue lies with the mirrors in car / the way they render the game in general.
I thought waiting a month would give the team time to stabilize this. Sadly, it still does NOT hit VRR threshold. Dragons Dogma 2 and this were at the top of my list for must play games. And BOTH have terrible performance on ps5 and PC. Shame
At 4k, 45fps (bounce) when the game is at its' MOST demanding (with 60fps lock target) is the acceptable medium. 30 FPS anything even as a low frame trigger, is unnacpetable in 2024 (at least for most current consoles).
Agreed, no one asked for 4k must experience, most people will be fine with lower resolution but it’s definitely unacceptable to have 1 locked option with poor performance
all that matters in my opinion is frame pacing. if it has issues with that, then there is micro stutters and that just throws everything off - even at 60 fps. Thats why some 30 fps games can look so much better then some 50 or 60+. Hopefully they will iron out the performance in future patches
This is a small dev teams first game release but they seem to be on it with updates, at least on PC so far (4 patches already). hopefully they can iron out or at least improve PS5 performance, I've been having a blast with PC version.
Performance is one thing, but there's a game breaking bug 18 hours in where an exit gate won't open after a mission (red meadows research facility). This happened to me on ps5. How could you launch a game without playtesting it first? I was gonna overlook the performance and say the game was awesome, but having an 18 hour run killed because of such a simple bug is unacceptable. Last time when I buy a game on launch.
@@Philminator it's poorly optimized, that much is true. I now had a second gamebreaking bug, where a bugged car quirk keeps opening and closing doors without stopping, and the diagnosis won't register even though it's 100% right. Thankfully I haven't had any crashes yet, but the game is very unstable (which is ironical given the game's themes)
I also broke my game, it was after the first mission when you have to install the handbrake, it disappered. I picked it up from the locker left it on the ground next to car and afer a while it vanished. It's not on my inventory, not in the locker, not where i left it... I'll have to start the game all over again
@@virtajo1 always make multiple backup saves, before and after any trip or mission, it's a great game but you'll have to be prepared to dodge gamebreaking bugs every now and then. Another one I had was with a quirk that wouldn't register and was unfixable (it was a bugged quirk that made the doors open at close without stopping no matter what).... so yeah, make lots of saves
Cheers mate, won´t buy this unoptimized mess. I was so hyped for this game and even wanted to buy It day one but I´m glad they released a demo for the pc. My pc can run metro exodus / rdr2 etc. with 120frames but this game I get barely +30 fps its unplayable.
Feels more like 19fps for me on ps5 i really cant play it, gives me a head ache. And Probably even more noticeable on bigger tv's. I also feel like i got shafted with this game, i didnt even expect this at all.
it doesn't matter if its playable to some 30 fps isn't okay for next gen consoles and they were very hush hush about it giving people mostly review copies on pc and a demo on pc only? they knew what they were doing I feel duped honestly its funny because all the reviews on ps5 said it was 50-60 fps maybe ironwood told them it would be fixed and not to mention it or something thus is just very disappointing because I am very sensitive to fps, im praying for a 60 fps patch but I don't think it will happen so I guess money down the drain for me
I'm not saying its ok to release the game in this state. Just saying for some who don't mind you may still want to pick this up. I just wanted to be clear that it's not a smooth 60 fps game on the PS5, nor the PC with my current setup, which far exceeds the recommended hardware.
@@Philminatoryeah its disappointing we have to deal with games being broken on release nowadays sadly the devs said they aren’t working for any kind of performance mode which the game desperately needs the ps5 is more then capable at running this game at a solid 60 just poor optimization I guess anyways I hope you enjoy the game I will be waiting for any kind of performance update before I play
