Kleveland is on another level! And I reckon Dusty's 1800 japan should have been scored a little better but dang what a awesome night. Women and men were killing it!
Yeah, dusty got taken for his money on that 23 and then the 15. Think about it, his first if we were scoring a test would have been a 46% and the second would be a 30%....neither of those were even passing scores? The first is a solid low end of the F scale, and the second was an F--? There's no way. The scoring on these tricks is all over the place.
Holy moly Kleveland. This is some insane talent. He not only came back to xgames, he even came back stronger than ever before. He is the epitome of a beast! Not even a handdrag on the nollie 1980 and the Shikane.... absolutely insane!!!
X Games judges sometimes have a tendency to pick favorites, but Marcus 100% deserved that result. Every single man on the roster has the chops to win on their night, but consistency is key, and Kleveland has that on lock.
clear display of the progress made year after year in snowboarding. this was a pure masterclass by marcus kleveland but this big air was definitely one for the history books..
He basically added a new rotation to big air snowboarding... Before that it was either flat or corked, but rodeo-style tricks have been really rare in Big air events... Seems totally justified to me as well
I'll be happy when a little bit of steez comes back into these comps. Exciting big tricks, but it starts to feel same same. Loving what Kleveland brings, style and technicality!
These athletes are doing some tricks these days that we never could’ve imagined when I was younger. Like a 1080 seemed near impossible back then. Now they’re stomping quad cork 1980’s. Kleveland is a monster on these big air jumps. Such a clean style and perfect techniques. Amazing runs. Such a boss. Exactly what I was hoping to see outta this event.
19:39 I love the shout out to Henrik! The day Tanner hyped him up to do the first nose butter triple cork and he stomped it for a perfect score… it’ll almost bring a tear to your eye 🥲
You try to score on the first two runs, then the additional runs will replace the lower of the two scores... EG: 1st run: 30 2nd: 31 3rd: 35 (this replaces your lower score, which is 30) 4th: 32 (this now replaces the now lower score, which is 31) and so forth...
@Xgames I do greatly appreciate the free streams, but is 1080p (1080/60) not possible in 2023?! 720 looks great on a phone, but on a 1440p monitor it looks pretty bad… Thank you for all that you do though, I’ll obviously take 720/60 over nothing 😅
Idk how much longer I can support allowing myself to watch x games, Young gravy has absolutely no business having a face during beautiful winter x games.
Why does it seem like there's a lack on variety in snowboard tricks these days? Just seems like everyone grabs indy or melon and tries to spin as much as possible.
I, too, smashed my knee just like that. Except for mine was a bicycling accident. I know what my knee bone looks like cause I could see it sticking out. The doctor said we're gunna do some surgery and rehab. Because I like cycling so much, I had to do the rehab. That was 5 years ago. I bicycle now more than I ever did before. 😊 It's like that song lyric. "I get knocked down, but I get up again." Yada yada yada.
Marks front triple 14 with the weddle to tail should be getting 40 minimum imo… he even tweaked both grabs and landed soooo clean. A bunch of these 18s were lowkey compression hand drags which isn’t a fall but definitely not as great style.
Su's 1980 was super sick, but it outscored Marcus's with that hand drag? With a score that high, it's almost like there was no penalty at all. Either way, Su deserved his position, but that just seems really over scored.
It's insane what they do but its more or less just a spin to win contest by now. Doesn't matter if you do a japan versus an melon, getting more air than anybody els or just passing the knuckle. Fiévan figure skating has more style points.
I feel like there aren't enough attempts now that the tricks required to get a decent score are so difficult. Basically if you fail 3 times you have likely lost, Otsuka got lucky
i am a bmxer and a snowboarder. i worked at a world class ski snowboard resort for 15 years as a mgr. i made over 200 snowboarding videos. snowboarding down volcanoes in ninja suit and doing weapons as i went down the volcano. videos snowboarding dressed as KISS or bigfoot. etc. i love to shred. but. when i watch bmx or snow xgames. because you are hooked to the board. you got spins. flips. off axis and grabs. which makes every trick look the same. compare this to a big air on bmx. the amount of tricks that can be done on a bmx that look completely different are mind blowing. this is impressive. but when one spins this many times. to the average person. it looks all the same. unlike bmx. still cool. but i think a slow 360 with a long held grab still looks better than spinning fast as one can with no style. just my opinion.
I've been wondering for a couple years, why did he go from introducing himself as "Sal" to his full name of "Salema"? It flowed so much better before, imo. It's up to him, of course. Nothing wrong with it, but it feels like there's more to it Even Victoria let slip and called him Sal, then corrected to Salema. I've never understood the change.
