Grapevine Vintage Railroad’s 2024 Season Opener was an amazing experience! My opinion on the railroad definitely changed for the better after this adventure. Thanks to R.K. and A.B. For helping record most of the clips in this video!
Sounds about right, I wouldn’t imagine it any higher. It is 55-60 I believe for TexRail (which the GVRR shares and plays hopscotch with for most of the journey) in theory they could go that fast, but given how leisure oriented the train is, the age/design of the passenger cars, and how the general public will always be the general public and stick their bodies, arms, legs etc out the side of the open air cars during the warmer months (the open air cars have glass inserts during the winter as seen in the video) it’s very unlikely.
HAHAHA so true. We got to the Stockyards a couple years ago before the FL9s, but didn't have time to ride. Hope to get back. Thanks for the reply. Scott.
I'm guessing they did not use the "U turn" that was added. looks like they passed it SB and just switch tracks and returned NB to the Stockyards Station. Maybe the FL's are too long to make it on the horseshoe loop? Do you know of another reason like maybe track repairs?
Yes, they did not use the wye while going to the stockyards. However they used half of it for the return trip to grapevine and 2014 lead again as a result. I saw them go through Tower 60/Ash Grove but only took pictures.
